Velvet Sky in a brand new, revealing photoshoot. Scroll down to see more!
It may come as a surprise that former EBWF Sky High champion and Diva Velvet Sky, is a far cry from her portrayed Barbie Doll gimmick on television. Velvet Sky managed to get her first big break in wrestling during her tenure in TNA back in 2007. She was most known for her role as one half of the Beautiful People, along side her close friend Angelina Love. The Beautiful People were an elite group of arrogant blondes who believed they were of superior status, threatening to "cleanse" the TNA roster of "one ugly person at a time."
The gimmicks were inspired by the notorious Hollywood mean girls, Paris Hilton and her best friend Nicole Richie. Sky, however, claims that she bears little resemblance to the girly girl she portrays on TV.
"I'm definitely not a fashionista by any means. Velvet Sky is more girly girl, I've always been more of a tomboy myself. I wear what's most comfortable to me," Velvet Sky states, who's real name is Jamie Szantyr.
"I care less about the latest trends in fashion and more about comics, movies and videogames. What girl doesn't like to dress up from time to time? But for the most part, I am nothing like Velvet Sky. When I'm not performing, I rarely do my hair and makeup, I can't even tell you what the new "it" thing in fashion is. I wear what I wear and that's that."
Velvet Sky saw a face turn shortly after signing with the EBWF, and the split of the Beautiful People. Her partner, Angelina Love, went on to become EBWF Women's Champion after turning on Sky. Angelina was injured during an EBWF PPV and had to be sidelined, only to later be released from the company without any further explanation.
"I do miss playing a mean girl on TV, since I'm definitely nothing like that in person. Sometimes it's fun to explore an alter ego. I really miss working along side Angelina, we had some amazing times together in the Beautiful People."
Although this beauty from Connecticut hasn't been seen on any EBWF broadcastings since the turn of the New Year, she is thought to still be with the company. When asked about her missing ring action for so long, she replied, "I was granted some time away for personal reasons. I was actually training to make a return at one point and ended up suffering a pretty brutal shoulder injury. I was advised to allow plenty of time for recovery. So I've just been keeping busy with media, small appearances and wrestling conventions here and there."
When asked about a possible return to EBWF television soon, Sky smiled and said, "I am doing my best. It won't be this month or the next, but I may get the green light from my doctor to start competing again. I'm pretty excited, I really miss being a part of the show. But everyone within EBWF is amazing in their own way. They'll continue to put out an amazing product for the fans and keep you all intrigued on what's going to happen next. Then I will be back before you know it!"
