OOC: It feeeels SOOOOO good to be back! I really enjoyed writing this RP, and being part of such a great first match back! Best of luck to Jack, Kyle, and of course our champion, and my pal, William.
3 months, it may not seem like too much time. Your 3 month old child is still very much newborns, relationships that are 3 months old are in the beginning stages with each person continuing to learn new things about the other. As kids we all enjoyed a 3 month Summer Vacation that ALWAYS seemed to be over no sooner than it had started. 3 months often times can feel like nothing, an instant, a blink of an eye, and then it is nothing but a memory. However, what happens when 3 months DOESN'T whip past us like a car in the speed lane of the highway? What happens when 3 months feels like an eternity? When every Tuesday feels like it should be Friday, when every first of the month feels like it should be 2 months later on the calendar. When does this occur? I spoke of seeing your child grow up, new relationships, and summer vacation, all of which live up to the mantra "time flies when you are having fun," but what about when you AREN'T having fun? When you aren't having fun, time drags like an ankle weight on a prisoner, and that is EXACTLY what Mike Mizanin better known as "The Miz" has felt like over HIS last 3 months, a prisoner. 3 months for Mike, may as well have been 3 years. Professional wrestlers, even more so than most, are creatures of routine. They are on the road, every night of the year just about, and there is little chance for downtime. So when the EBWF creative approached Mike about a chance to get some, he gladly accepted. What Mike should have, but failed to realize is that for someone who loves what he does, as much as he does, the novelty of free time lasts, forget 3 months, NOT EVEN 3 minutes! It was not long after Mike's departure from TV, that he was itching to come back, and when it finally was his time to return, the former leader of "The Trilogy" did so in a MAJOR way. Appearing as former Trilogy member, and current EBWF World Heavyweight Champion, AJ Styles' mystery partner. Miz exploded from the back to a thunderous ovation, one that he was certainly not accustomed to, and helped Styles gain the victory over Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. Many were confused as to why Miz would HELP the man that put him out of action in April's EBWF event "Aftermath" but as is often the case, Miz' intentions were not as they first appeared. Miz quickly tried to gain his revenge on his former friend, by attempting to connect on a Skull Crushing Finale. Few people knew Miz, as well as AJ, who escaped the move, and when it appeared as though the two would then come to long awaited blows, out came Nicole Orton. Nicole announced in front of a capacity crowd, that The Miz would be added to the triple threat match for the EBWF World Heavyweight Championship, making the match a fatal four way, with Kevin Nash as the Special Guest Referee. 15 minutes prior Miz was out of the public eye, but then in that instant, in that BLINK OF AN EYE, he was back, and in a match where he could not only get some revenge, but also earn his second reign as the EBWF Champion, I guess time really DOES fly when you're having fun.
The scene opened at a Four Seasons in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the site of EBWF's Sacrifice. The camera faded inside the hotel to one of the many rooms in the large hotel/resort. Lying on the made King Sized bed, with her bare feet by the head board, and Dr. Dre headphones on her ears, was Layla El. She wore a white with pink stripes, short sleeve polo, and blue jean shorts. She had a frown on her face as her eyes peered in at the screen of her Mac Lap Top. Apparently whatever it was that she was watching, did not please her even in the slightest. Another minute or two went by, and her mouth came open, as one's does when someone has just insulted them. Another moment passed by, when the hotel's door opened. Walking into the room, was Mike Mizanin. He was dressed to the nine's which seemed strange for this, otherwise candid scene. He wore an all grey suit with black undershirt and grey tie. He had a cell phone to his ear, and Layla went to speak to him the second his foot stepped foot inside the room. She quickly stopped herself when she saw he was on the phone, and he gave her a quick "one minute" signal with the rising of his index finger. Mike was nodding furiously, and a wry smile came onto his lips, before he finally spoke.
Mike Mizanin: I couldn't agree more, that's actually a really good point. I guess I never thought of it that way, since we're friends, you know? Yeah, I know that. Well thank you, I really appreciate that. Yeah it's definitely good to be back, thanks again. Alright yup, see you then. Bye.
Mike ended the call on his I-Phone and his eyes, met Layla's. She wanted to give him at least a second or two to collect his thoughts, but her curiosity kicked in.
Layla El: Who was that?
Mike shrugged the question off, downplaying what seemed like a conversation that had his undivided attention.
Mike Mizanin: Oh it was nobody, just somebody welcoming me back. Been getting a lot of those, you know how it is.
Layla nodded, he had been. Ever since Mike's return this past Monday on Warfare, people had been tweeting him, and those who had his cell phone number, calling him, welcoming him back to the active roster. It was clear that though Mike was portrayed as a "bad guy" or "heel" that he had many fans and friends who were happy to see him back on TV. Layla looked back down to her computer, and as if that had reminded her of something, her eyes lit up, and she went to say something, only for Mike to start speaking first.
Mike Mizanin: You ever wonder why EBWF asked me to take time off in the first place?
Layla closed her mouth, that had previously been open to speak before Mike beat her to the punch. Mike must have noticed that she had went to say something, but he didn't seem to feel bad, instead he had a very serious look on his face, as he awaited her answer. The question seemed to throw Layla off, and she didn't have much of an initial answer.
Layla El: Hmm?
Told you. Mike put his phone, on a night stand by the bed, and took off his suit jacket. He repeated the question, and elaborated.
Mike Mizanin: Do you ever wonder why EBWF asked me to take time off in the first place? I mean, for a few months I pretty much ran the show. We had Trilogy, the top three titles, we were getting all sorts of TV time. People were responding, fans loved to hate us. Then just like that throwing logic to the wind, Allen wins the rumble, spelling doom for our stable that was really just picking up steam. They make the obvious decision to turn him face to build up the match at Wrestlemania and surprise surprise they ask me to put him over. Which OK I get it, the guys been here awhile he's never gotten a chance to really be the man. It just, even then, seemed like it was a little too soon, ESPECIALLY if they were going to build something between the two of us. It certainly felt like all the pieces were in place, with the Trilogy spurning him, and the whole situation with you and I being brought onto the screen, it could have been a lot bigger than it was. I mean even despite me dropping the belt to him, I still thought that it could have been something big, then 2 weeks later EBWF asks me to take some time off, and that Allen was going to be the one to put me out of commission after our match at Aftermath. Which I mean, I agreed to, but it certainly didn't feel like I was being asked as much it did that I was being told. It didn't make a lot of sense to me at the time, but who was I to argue. It just felt like such a waste to build something up, and then just let it fizzle. With me out, it pretty much squashed a hot story line, before it could start to boil. It just doesn't seem like something EBWF creative would have done, after all the time they invested in us. You don't think..
Layla was listening intently, recalling everything Mike was describing, when Mike began this next sentence Layla cut him off, seemingly figuring out where he was going with it.
Layla El: That it wasn't their idea?
Mike didn't respond he instead made a "mmhm" sound to let Layla know, that that was indeed what he was going to imply. Layla thought to herself for a minute, before she spoke.
Layla El: I mean I've never known the writers to be influenced like that. Usually if they think there is still more to be done, they see it all the way through. I definitely agree with you, in the sense that they could have gotten more out of that whole thing a few months ago, but maybe that's why you're back now. Maybe that's why they added you to this match, to continue what they started. Maybe they really and truly just thought you deserved a couple of months to yourself, to relax.
Mike nodded. He seemed like he was still very deep in thought. He managed a one word answer, spoken very blankly.
Mike Mizanin: Maybe.
Layla furrowed her brow. She could sense that her answer hadn't full convinced him.
Layla El: Where did this all come from? Who was that on the phone?
The question seemed to bring Mike back to earth, and into this moment.
Mike Mizanin: I already told you, it was nobody important, just a fan. I was just thinking about all this on the flight, that's all. Thinking about how glad I am to be back, but also how I never thought I'd be gone for as long as I was. I mean 3 months, doesn't seem like much, but when you think someone means a couple weeks, and it turns out to be 3 months, it can drive you a little insane.
Layla nodded once again, seeming to sympathize with him.
Layla El: I know babe, but like I said I think that despite all of that, everyone has your best interest at heart, as well as the best interest of the company. You're back now, so just be happy about that and you just gotta do the best you can with whatever they come up with.
Mike seemed a little annoyed by the simple analysis his girlfriend had just offered to him.
Mike Mizanin: Yeah, but what if that's putting my career at a disadvantage? What if other people, are constantly in the ear of creative, and not just "doing the best with whatever they come up with?" So that even if they had big plans for me, those plans get derailed, to pander to somebody else?
Layla seemed confused at how out of left field this whole conversation seemed. Mike didn't seem like his normal self, 6 hours ago he was the happiest guy in the world. He almost seemed paranoid in this moment, like there was more he needed to be doing to ensure that he didn't cool down, after his months of vacation.
Layla El: Somebody like who, Allen?
Mike Mizanin: I didn't say that.
Layla El: But you're thinking it.
Mike Mizanin: Think about it Lay. Throughout that whole entire angle, my personality shone through as the leader of that group. I was the guy that thought of it, I put it together, and I executed it best, and made it stick. Allen wins the rumble, meaning he's finally getting the push he'd been wanting forever, but wait there's a problem. The EBWF Champion is in the same faction as the one he was just placed in. So here's a guy now, that has been just aching for a chance to be in the spotlight, aching for a chance to get out of the mid card, and JUST when he finally gets his chance, all signs point to the fact that he was going to have to put over the leader of the group that revitalized his career in the first place, at least initially. You don't think Allen, Allen JONES, would EVER whine about his impending doom? You don't think Allen would piss and moan, about how he "paid his dues" and how he shed "blood, sweat, and tears, everyday for no recognition." No part of you thinks that Allen, may not have wanted any part of a long feud with me, because that would have meant him waiting longer to finally have his moment? No part of you thinks it was his idea to put me on the shelf, because anything seemed better than waiting, when he already felt like he had waited more than long enough.
Layla locked eyes with Mike, this was one of his best friends in the world that he was talking about, and the way he spoke, you could tell he honestly believed in this moment, that Allen was part of a conspiracy against Mike's career.
Layla El: I've known Allen a long time, and though we've been through some rough patches, and he and I don't see eye to eye anymore, I know what you mean to him as a friend.. and with that said, NO I truly don't believe he'd do ANYTHING to try and ruin your career or your livelihood. He's a professional.
Mike looked at Layla as if the answer had betrayed him. He was currently in a state, that unless Layla took his side, he wasn't going to be happy with anything that she had to say. His next words came off very snippy and sarcastic
Mike Mizanin: Yeah OK Lay.
Layla seemed taken aback.
Layla El: What is your problem?
Mike glared at her, and was quick to respond.
Mike Mizanin: My problem, is that this is my life, and my career. I know that what we do is all predetermined yadda yadda yadda, but there is a lot of things that come with being on top of the mountain. It's something that we all work for, something ALL of us strive for, so when I think that the longevity of my moment may have been tampered with, by a FRIEND no less, forgive me if I'm a little annoyed by that, and forgive me if I expect my "GIRLFRIEND" to understand that.
Layla gave Mike a long hard look. This wasn't him talking.
Layla El: Seriously who was that on the phone?
Mike looked at her with a look of disbelief. You could almost see the Miz popping out of him.
Mike Mizanin: REALLY Lay? Are you even listening to a word I'm saying?
Layla El: I'm trying to Mike, I really am, but what you're saying is nonsense.. but hey maybe I just can't understand because I'm not exactly "girlfriend material?"
Mike's look changed from anger to guilt, as he looked as though he had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Mike's tone quickly changed.
Mike Mizanin: So I'm guessing you saw Kimmel?
Layla crossed her arms and nodded.
Layla El: OBVIOUSLY I was going to see it! How could you say that, on National TV?
Mike Mizanin: Lay, I was in character basically the entire interview. I've been Mike Mizanin for the best 3 months OFF TV, Jimmy Kimmel wanted to talk to The Miz, so that's who I gave him. On screen you are with Kaientai, who had an ASSIST in my being injured off 3 months ago. So I obviously couldn't say that you and I were doing great.
Layla El: Whatever Mike, here you go, you can watch your interview. Look out in the crowd to see if there's anybody who looks like they might want to negatively effect how much time you get with Jimmy, conspirators are EVERYWHERE.
Layla wiggled spirit fingers in Mike's face as she stood up off the bed. Mike gave her a smug look that implied "oh ha ha." Layla stormed out of the room and slammed the door. Mike scrolled to the beginning of the video that was titled The Miz on Jimmy Kimmel. He clicked it, and the camera zoomed in, as the current scene faded into the contents of the video. We were in the studio of Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel. The show had aired Friday, July 27th and the studio audience was applauding as the show returned from it's first commercial break.
Jimmy Kimmel: Well folks, this Sunday Night EBWF's Sacrifice hits Pay Per View.
The crowd applauded.
Jimmy Kimmel: And tonight we have a very special.. well I guess I should say AWESOME guest to talk about, please welcome THE MIZ!
"I Came To Play" by Downstait was heard over the PA as a majority of the studio audience applauded, when The Miz hit the stage. Predictably there were a few boos as well from the wrestling fans in attendance. Miz had his hair slicked all the way around, and he wore a black suit, black undershirt, and white tie, not to mention his trademark smug look of arrogance. He went to go shake hands with Jimmy but instead pulled his hand away and combed his hair with it. Jimmy smiled as did Miz.
Jimmy Kimmel: Wow, dissed already, does that mean we have to have a match now?
The Miz sat back in his chair and put his hands behind his head.
The Miz: I don't think you're quite ready for that there Jim Jim.
Miz had a grin on his face as did Kimmel.
Jimmy Kimmel: Perhaps not, perhaps a couple of squats may be in order first.
The Miz nodded as if to say "perhaps, perhaps"
The Miz: Couple thousand maybe, and not the kind you do in the morning with your newspaper and a donut.
Some of the crowd laughed, Jimmy did as well.
Jimmy Kimmel: Yeah, and it's too bad too because I'm very good at those.
The Miz: I don't doubt that at all.
They both smiled. Kimmel sat up in his chair a little bit, and Miz mocked him by following suit.
Jimmy Kimmel: OK so Miz, so welcome to the show, and I guess I should say welcome BACK to TV, you've been away for awhile haven't you?
The Miz answered the split second Kimmel finished the question.
The Miz: Yeah, you know I have been. Recovering from a nice little rib injury I suffered a few months back. Which actually came as a surprise to everyone, because it was WIDELY believed that godlike men such as myself don't suffer injuries, yet here I am, a godlike man, who just recently recovered from an injury.
There was a moment of silence from Kimmel who squinted his eyes with a half smile on his lips. You could almost hear the wheels turning.
Jimmy Kimmel: That's baffling, I was one of those people that believed that. So I mean like you said I was shocked.
The Miz: It was shocking!
Jimmy Kimmel: That's what I'm saying.
The crowd laughed as Jimmy quickly transitioned. That's why he got paid the big bucks.
Jimmy Kimmel: So you make your return.. to the ring.. this Sunday Night at Sacrifice but you actually returned this past Monday Night on Warfare, is that correct?
Miz nodded.
The Miz: Yep that's right. I came back on Warfare to help AJ Styles win a match against Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase. The three of them were supposed to be in a Triple Threat Match this Sunday Night, but with my returning, there was really no way that I wasn't going to be added to the match as well.
Jimmy Kimmel: Seriously, I mean what's a World Title Match without The Miz?
The Miz: A boring one, Jim. A boring one.
Jimmy Kimmel: Well let's take a look at the clip from Warfare.
The end of the match, the attempted assault, the moment where Miz and AJ were in each others face, as well as Nicole Orton's announcement were shown. We faded back into the studio audience who applauded the clips.
Jimmy Kimmel: Pretty intense stuff.
The Miz nodded.
The Miz: It definitely was, I mean any time AJ and I are in the ring these days with each other, there is a lot of animosity. We've been through a lot together, back to the days of our group, The Trilogy, to the falling out, to what happened at Wrestlemania and then Aftermath, I really just don't like the guy and the feelings mutual.
Jimmy Kimmel: Why uh.. why don't you like him? Aside from the fact that he cracked your ribs open and put you out of action for 3 months, that's never a good start, I understand.
The Miz smiled.
The Miz: Right, I mean the biggest thing I don't like about him, is that he's the biggest phony in our entire business. He'll come out here, and ramble on and on about how he's a champion that everyone can be proud of, and that he'll defend the belt with honor..
Jimmy Kimmel: As opposed to you right? Who the fans wouldn't be proud of?
Jimmy was trying to goat him, but instead, Miz just shrugged, as the crowd laughed.
The Miz: I mean I guess, but it's like REALLY AJ? You're a champion that everyone can be proud of? REALLY? So you beat me at Wrestlemania, good for you! The one thing that you've done, that I'll admit you can look in the mirror, and say "Hey self, way to go, I beat the Miz one on one at Wrestlemania." That's quite an accomplishment, but since then what exactly have you done? At Aftermath it took the absolute lunacy of those two little runts Kaientai to help you retain your title against me in our Iron Man Match. You used their distraction, to pick up that final fall, and then used the fact that I was down and out, to crack my ribs, and take me out of commission. Why did you do both of those things? I'll answer for you, you did those things because you KNEW that there was NO WAY that you'd be able to defeat me one on one. You knew that with me around, with no distractions, with no outside forces at work, that your days as EBWF Champion would be LIMITED. So what did you do? You took me out, I bet you wanted it to be forever, but guess what, IT WASN'T. Three months later, here I am, sitting on the couch at Jimmy Kimmel, two days before I get my revenge, and take back what is RIGHTFULLY mine at Sacrifice.
Jimmy Kimmel: So he beat you, but who's he faced since then?
The Miz smirked like his answer was going to be extremely underwhelming.
The Miz: It's been ridiculous Jimmy, following month he faced Chris Jericho, who was one thousand times more focused on ringing Wes Ikeda's neck than he was with facing AJ, and then last month he defeated Ted DiBiase.
The Miz sarcastically clapped for AJ, for earning those victories he alluded to.
The Miz: This is the same Ted DiBiase who was only in the "Trilogy" so that we didn't have to call it the "sequel." Ted's never been good enough to be the EBWF Champion, and the fact that he faced AJ last month, and the fact that he's in the match AGAIN this month is an absolute joke. Ted's nothing but a space filler, someone to stand next to you while you talk and nod. Ted DiBiase is a lackey, incapable of being anything more than what he currently is, and that is the Path To Glory Champion. Unfortunately for Ted, that path is going to be more like a MAIZE to Glory that he's going to just continue to be lost in, because if the glory he's looking for is to become the EBWF Champion, well that quite simply is just never going to happen, as long as I'm breathing. Ted had his chance these past months to make something of himself with me out of action. He had a chance to step into the forefront as a force to be reckoned with, and he tried Jimmy, he really did. But just as he will this Sunday, he failed. He tried to revive the Trilogy, with himself as the leader, but the only person he could convince to join was that short bus reject Bully Ray who follows him around now. Proving once again, that Ted DiBiase is nothing but the son of a legend, who will do nothing but continue to fall short of the potential everyone always says that he has. It's never a good thing, when people are still talking about how much potential you have after you've been in this business for a decade, if you catch my drift. So I guess what I'm getting at Jimmy, is that I don't think they are dusting off the plaque for best EBWF Champion of all time for AJ Styles, just yet.
Jimmy Kimmel: You mention Kaientai, they actually have been running around these days with a young lady who you were actually dating, miss Layla El? What's going on with that? Are you guys still together? Or what's the story?
The Miz smirked.
The Miz: Yeah Layla I guess is their little sidekick, or they are her little sidekick, I don't really know what the situation is there. All I know is those two morons, cost me my chance to regain my EBWF Championship. The reason they were able to distract me, is SOLELY because of Layla, so in turn Layla took part in COSTING ME my EBWF Championship. Now I realize it was more their fault than hers, but for her to turn around and accept them as friends and partners? Really? So no, to answer the question, we are NOT together, Layla isn't exactly girlfriend material, Jim.
Jimmy nodded and smiled.
Jimmy Kimmel: You hear that ladies, he's a free man!
The girls in the audience "woo'ed" as Miz smirked confidently and raised a hand as if to say "Thank You, Thank You."
Jimmy Kimmel: So you spoke a little bit about Ted DiBiase and of course AJ Styles, but there is a fourth competitor in this match too, in Cody Rhodes.
The Miz sat back and looked none to threatened by the former EBWF Intercontinetal Champion, Rhodes.
The Miz: That's right, Cody Rhodes. Another guy that in the 3 months I've been gone, has had a chance to be in the spotlight. You see Jimmy, my injury in a sense was just like when the best player on a team can't make it to a game. It gives OTHER players a chance to take shots, or get passes thrown to them, but in the end Jimmy what usually happens when the best player on a team doesn't play?
Jimmy Kimmel: I would have to say the team loses.
The Miz nodded in appreciation of Jimmy Kimmel being smart enough to connect the dots, as to where he was going with this.
The Miz: That's right, the team loses. Just because other people are getting a shot to do things they don't normally do when the best player is around, doesn't mean that's what's best. If you aren't getting a chance to shoot, it's probably because you suck.
Jimmy Kimmel: I know first hand, that that is DEFINITELY the case.
The crowd laughed, and even Miz cracked a smile.
The Miz: Exactly, so the EBWF as a team has been losing without their best player.
The Miz pointed at himself.
The Miz: Because guys like Cody Rhodes have gotten to take a couple shots these past 3 months in my absence.. But now Jimmy, I'm back to take the ball back, and keep it away from people like him, that don't deserve to even look at it. Cody Rhodes is a guy, that I honestly thought we were all done with before I got hurt, a guy that I didn't think we'd have to listen to anymore.. but from what I understand.. he's back and he's acting really strange.. and he wears a mask now.. because he thinks he thinks he's too hideous to look at. He breathes heavily, pours spiders onto people, and is basically filling in for Brian Kendrick as the resident weirdo in the EBWF. Cody Rhodes isn't a threat to me Jimmy, whether the guy is winking into mirrors or punching them because he can't stand to look at himself, when he steps in the ring, he's still NOWHERE near my level. All the antics in the world outside of it, don't change his shortcomings inside of it.
Jimmy Kimmel: Don't I know it.
The Miz smiled out of the corner of his mouth, and the crowd laughed.
The Miz: What was that Jimmy?
Jimmy Kimmel: Oh did I say that out loud? Continue, sorry!
The crowd laughed, really enjoying this interview.
The Miz: So yes Jimmy, Cody Rhodes is a competitor in the match at Sacrifice, but I'm not worried about him to say the least. I'm not really worried about any of these guys if you haven't gathered that already. The fact of the matter is simple, I've been sitting around for 3 months, waiting until I was ready to come back better than I ever was, which for me is pretty noteworthy, because I was ALREADY so amazing.
Jimmy Kimmel: Of course, of course.
The crowd laughed, Jimmy and Miz both shared a smile.
The Miz: I waited until, I knew that when I came back, I would be a Miz that this company not only had never seen before, but a Miz that they were in NO WAY ready for. AJ Styles, Ted DiBiase, and Cody Rhodes may be 3 different people with 3 different personalities, but on Sunday they may as well all be the same. On Sunday when it's all said and done Cody, AJ, and Ted will all be on their backs looking up, at yours truly, The Miz, the most must-see, the most captivating, the most dominant, superstar in the history of this company ONCE again having his hand raised and being announced as the new EBWF World Heavyweight Champion. Fact.
Jimmy Kimmel: You seem pretty confident.
The Miz: Me being confident about winning a match with these 3 guys, is like you being confident about the fact that if it was up to you, you'd still be doing The Man Show.
The crowd cheered and Kimmel nodded, impressed with the reference.
Jimmy Kimmel: Well there's no denying that, just kidding of course.
Jimmy looked into the camera and mouthed "No I'm not." The crowd laughed.
Jimmy Kimmel: Before I let you go, the one thing that I forgot to mention, and we haven't really touched on with regards to your match this weekend, is Kevin Nash. Yes that's right, for those of you who haven't watched pro wrestling in decades, THAT Kevin Nash, is the special guest referee.
The Miz: Again Jimmy, I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, and no I don't mean I'm literally beating Kevin Nash, I mean it like the expression.
Jimmy Kimmel: Thank you for clarifying that.
The Miz smiled.
The Miz: No problem, but yeah. I mean Kevin Nash is the referee, but that is just another extra detail, that means literally nothing to me in the scheme of this match. As long as he's not too old to remember what number comes after two, we should be fine. As LL Cool J once said, don't call my match on Sunday a COMEBACK, call it what it really is, and that is the removal of three men from the spotlight, who quite simply had NO business being there in the first place, courtesy of the one man who will NEVER leave it again. Trust me Jimmy, it's going to be AWESOME.
The Miz sat back in his chair, looking very pleased with himself. Jimmy nodded, ready to wrap this all up.
Jimmy Kimmel: Well bottom line folks, WATCH EBWF's Sacrifice this Sunday to see not only The Miz compete for the EBWF Title, as we discussed tonight, but also many other great matches including John Cena vs. CM Punk. We'll be right back, Carly Rae Jepsen is here, stay with us.
"Call Me Maybe" played as Jimmy Kimmel, faded to commercial. The scene faded back out, to the Mike Mizanin sitting on the bed. He closed the lap top, when he lifted his eyes Layla was re-entering the room.
Mike Mizanin: Hey, look I'm sorry OK? I just thought based on the feel of the interview it was important for me to kind of stay in character.
Layla nodded.
Layla El: No I'm sorry, I definitely overreacted. It's just, I've been dealing with your antsyness for 3 months too, Mike.
Mike Mizanin: Antsyness?
Layla El: It's a word, if it's not it is now.
Mike smiled and nodded, knowing not to argue with her right now. The longer they were together, Mike was learning how to pick his spots, when he wasn't as preoccupied as he had been earlier, he could even execute this knowledge.
Layla El: It's been tough for me, because I know you wanted to be back, and I missed having you on the road too. So I was sad for you and I was sad for me. So now that you are back, and you should be happy again, you still weren't when you came storming in here earlier, and then the Kimmel thing was just icing on the cake, I just thought the mood would be a lot different just one day away from your return.
Mike nodded, he knew exactly what she was saying, but he still couldn't shake the thought he had expressed earlier.
Mike Mizanin: No I know, you're right and I am happy. It's just the whole break, didn't go like I thought it would, and I'd hate to think there was a reason other than what you said about them really wanting me to rest. Fact of the matter is, regardless of the finish tomorrow or what comes next, I'm back in the ring where I belong, I mean it was getting out of hand, I was asked to do another Real World/Road Rules challenge, because the people at MTV thought I was done with the EBWF. Most of all I'm glad to be back spending time with you every day.
Layla El: You promise?
Mike Mizanin: INDEED!
Mike smiled and motioned for her to come over to him. Layla smiled as well and jumped on Mike kissing him repeatably on the lips. The scene faded out. We faded back in to the EBWF logo, we were in the Target Center a dark match was just wrapping up and the crowd was buzzing with excitement for what was to come later that evening. There were few Pay Per Views that had people talking quite like people had been talking about Sacrifice. Not only were fans excited to see the fate of the EBWF Championship, but the Intercontinental Championship was up for grabs for the first time in awhile, as well as perhaps the most anticipated match-up in recent EBWF History between John Cena and CM Punk. At the matches conclusion Darren Young's hand was raised in victory. His theme music hit, only for it to be cut off. The Titan Tron soon showed the image of The Miz. He wore a Danger: I'm Awesome T Shirt, his wrestling trunks and boots. He stood in front of the camera, and he cleared his throat flashing his signature arrogant smile. The throat clear if it could have spoken would have said "After 3 months, once again I say, listen up." Miz started in a very serious tone.
The Miz: There is an age old expression that NO good deed, goes unpunished. It is an expression that I not only believe in, but that I have lived and experienced first hand. Eight months ago, I was one of the biggest stars in this company gaining more and more momentum each and every day. I was the Path To Glory Champion, and it was a title that fit me to a T because that is EXACTLY what I was on the Path To Glory. Glory that I would have realized alone had that been what I chose to do, but Minnesota that wasn't enough for me. You see not only, am I a talent unlike any other in this companies history, but I am also as caring an individual that this business has seen as well. To say I TRULY care about the success of others, in addition to my own, would be an UNDERSTATEMENT.
The crowd booed not buying what Miz had just said to be true, based on.. well pretty much everything he's ever done.
The Miz: So it wasn't enough for me that my stock was rising by the second, instead I wanted to help a couple of, who I felt at the time deserving superstars, reach the level of success that I knew I, myself would undoubtedly reach. Superstars that were unable to experience any kind of sustained success, because they both just seemed to be missing something. That little extra, that X factor, that little push to help them reach a level that they never thought possible. So Minnesota, I gave them that little extra, I was that X Factor, I gave them that little push that they needed.
The Miz' voice started to grow in intensity.
The Miz: I went to AJ Styles first, and later Ted DiBiase and we formed the Trilogy. Forming this group made both of these men do something that without me, they NEVER could have done on their own. I... MADE... THEM.. MATTER.
The crowd booed, as The Miz smirked arrogantly.
The Miz: Before me, people looked at Ted DiBiase for exactly what he was. A guy who was desperately trying to find his place in a business that his daddy dearest already put a flag down in. Ted DiBiase was EBWF's version of a successful business owner handing over all his hard work and successes to his undeserving offspring. Ted even walked around with the "Million Dollar Championship" reminding us all of his inheritance check, his net worth, and countless other things he had, that he didn't work for. As if him simply BEING in the EBWF wasn't enough to hammer that point home for all of us. I took that Ted DiBiase, the DiBiase that was looked at as a spoiled JOKE that didn't belong in professional wrestling, and I turned him into a man that people feared. I turned him into a man that people respected, I turned him into a winning machine. Ted DiBiase went from a punchline, to the man that was doing the punching, and that transformation was ALL BECAUSE OF ME. So you would think after everything I did for him, that in my moment of need, when another ingrate AJ Styles was set to crack my ribs, that he'd be there to come to my aid, JUST as I did when he was an irrelevant nobody before I brought him into Trilogy. But you weren't there for me, were you Ted? No! You sat idly by and watched as AJ Styles put me out of action for the PAST 3 MONTHS, and you did NOTHING!
The crowd cheered at the mention of AJ injuring Miz.
The Miz: Why did you do nothing? Huh? I'll tell you why. Because instead of being appreciative of everything I had taught you, instead of being appreciative of everything I've ever done for you, you were BLINDED by your OWN ambition. You thought that with me out of the way, that it would create some room at the top for you. You thought that with me on the shelf, that you would have your opportunity to hold the EBWF Title for more than a millisecond. What you failed to realize Ted, was that even though being a part of the Trilogy made you feel like a SOMEBODY, you take us, I'm sorry ME away, and you were still that same snot nosed spoiled NOBODY that you always were.
The crowd continued to boo Miz.
The Miz: You realized that quickly though didn't you Ted? You realized that nobody really cared about a Ted DiBiase that wasn't attached to the name Trilogy. So what did you do? You tried to form your own version. For the first time in your career, you tried to take the lead on something. You tried to earn something, without being handed it, by people more talented than you.. and how'd that work out for you? You earned a lackey in Bully Ray, and you are NO closer to being relevant than you were the day I welcomed you to the only TRUE Trilogy. MY TRILOGY. All you had to do Ted was be grateful, you just needed to be thankful all you had to do Ted was be loyal, and there was no telling what you would have become, but now NOBODY will EVER know.
The Miz stared into the camera, full of intensity.
The Miz: Before I get to AJ Styles, I want to make it CLEAR that I'm fully aware that this match is NOT just between the 3 of us. I am fully aware that there are TWO other variables, that didn't have anything to do with my being sidelined for 3 months that are involved in this match. Cody Rhodes and Kevin Nash, even though it goes against my better judgement, even though it goes against everything I am talking about, I have one more good deed left in me for each of you. I'm going to give you both a piece of advice that I want, no I NEED you to take. STAY. OUT. OF. MY. WAY. I am back for 2 reasons, revenge against my 2 selfish partners, and the EBWF Title. BOTH of which I deserve, BOTH of which I will get.
The crowd booed some more. Miz continued to soak it all in.
The Miz: Cody, what you do on your own time is none of my business. If you want to lick the glass on your ant farm, and put paper bags on your head, be my guest. If you to take a bath pig intestines, that's your prerogative, be as weird as you want to on YOUR TIME. Tonight Cody is not YOUR TIME, tonight is MY TIME. If you try to overachieve on MY TIME, I will make sure that NO MASK IN THE WORLD, will be able to cover up the hideous mess I leave you in.
More Boo's. The Miz seemed so deranged throughout this entire promo. Like he was missing a screw, and that he was completely obsessed with exacting his revenge and regaining the EBWF Championship.
The Miz: And then there was one.
The crowd cheered knowing that the one Miz was referring to, was fan favorite AJ Styles.
The Miz: A man that has betrayed me more than any of the rest. A man that even more than Ted, I pulled out of EBWF obscurity, and I gave him A LIFE. AJ Styles was stuck, night in, night out, match after match, the guy was going nowhere and he was NOT happy about it. Constantly whining, constantly complaining, constantly feeling like he was entitled to something that he JUST wasn't getting. Sure you all LOVED him back then, you cheered him like you cheer trapeze swingers, or tight rope walkers. You were intrigued by all the risks that he took in the ring FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT, but that's as far as it went for you. That's what he FAILED to realize UNTIL he met me. I helped him realize that you people didn't REALLY love him, that you people thought of him as NOTHING more than a circus act. I helped him realize that the second he stopped caring about what you idiots thought, was the second that he would start to be given the opportunities that he so DESPERATELY desired.
The crowd booed, and a "Miz is Awful" Chant was heard. Miz didn't break his flow for even a second to acknowledge the crowd. He was truly locked in.
The Miz:.. And he listened. The BEST MOVE AJ ever made was listening to my advice that day. He joined me in The Trilogy, and what happened? Almost instantly he became the Intercontinental Champion, then he won the Royal Rumble, and then, yes, he even BEAT ME for the EBWF World Heavyweight Championship.
The crowd gave a huge pop.
The Miz: But make NO mistake about it, NONE of that happens if it wasn't for my changing his outlook. None of that happens if he had continued on the path he was on. I SAVED HIM, the day that I invited him to join the Trilogy. I MOTIVATED HIM TO BE BETTER, the day I kicked him out.. and what does he do to say thank you? Does he acknowledge that everything I did was to make him the best version of himself? Does he think to himself "Hey I am the EBWF Champion, maybe what Miz is saying is true, maybe he really did want this for me!" No! Instead he decided to make it his mission to END ME for GOOD. Instead of saying "Hey Miz, thanks for pushing me to be the best I could be." He made it his mission to push me out of the way FOREVER.
The crowd popped once again.
The Miz: As the saying goes though AJ "if you point that gun at me, you better pull the trigger," if you try to END MY CAREER, you had better GET THE JOB DONE... but you didnt did you AJ? You failed..you failed because here I am again, AJ. Here I am, and though you couldn't get rid of me, though you couldn't keep me down, though you couldn't silence this voice that you are hearing right now, though you couldn't GET THE JOB DONE, I promise you AJ.. I CAN. I CAN pull the trigger, I CAN get the job done.. I CAN.. and AJ... I WILL.
BECAUSE I'M THE MIZ AND I'M
The Miz looked dead into the camera. He was almost shaking with intensity as he said his last word.
AWESOME.
The crowd booed as the titan tron cut off in what seemed like an instant. It took 3 months for The Miz to return, but it will only take 3 seconds, counted by one Kevin Nash, for The Miz to gain the revenge that he so desperately seeks.
3 Months
Re: 3 Months
This blew my mind. Great job, bro. I enjoyed reading this from start to finish and I especially enjoyed the first scene and the entire format of the RP. It would be hard to quote all the funny stuff throughout this, but you know where it is, you wrote it! Thanks for the good read and good luck.
