Darkness on The Rocks

Post by Matt »

sidenote: this past week I’ve been super sick, had really bad tonsillitis the penicillin is slowly kicking in but I’ve managed to write this within one of my awake periods before I’ll evidently have to nap again. Good luck to DJ. (Sorry Dan, tell the rock I don’t mean any of it 🤣) well done on a great wrestlemania results as well!! hope everyone has a fantastic week!!

Friday, just before the first weekend after Wrestlemania, which means that the coming Monday is the widely-known, Warfare after Mania, a staple point on EBWF’s fans calendars. At a house show in St Louis, the backstage area was kind of quiet in terms of wrestling personnel, most workers liked to leave early to pack and fly before the show on Monday, the locker room was empty, apart from four men. the Bálor Club. The crowd could be heard through the brick walls of the locker room, cheering for the match which just finished and a production assistant knocked on the door before pushing her head through the door slightly.

PA: Hey, guys. The match has just finished, if you’re still down to do the promo I can get everything sorted for you if you come with me now and that’ll be it for the night.

The guys looked at each other and nodded. They began walking towards the gorilla position as they were crossing paths with the wrestlers that had just finished, the Guerrillas of Destiny patted them on the backs as they walked by before all four of them stood in formation, Finn at the front, followed by Raven with his Breakout Championship around his waist and Guerrillas of Destiny behind. They heard The Bálor Club music play on the speakers and they walked through the curtain, hearing the applause they were excited. The group posed on the ramp a little before heading down to the ring, the three guys went to the respective corners, Tama Tonga, got up onto the turnbuckle and sat down, Tanga Loa leant against the corner and Raven placed his Breakout Championship on full show in between the middle and top ropes before sitting on the floor. Finn picked up a microphone from the PA and smiled at the crowd.

Finn: Good evening St. Louis. Just in case you are of feeble minds, or you happen to not watch television on a regular basis, let me take a moment to introduce ourselves to you. Behind me to my right, in each corner are Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, they are the Number One Contenders for the EBWF Tag Team Championship, to my left we have the unstoppable, the fierce, the dangerous, EBWF Breakout Champion Raven... and for you who don’t know who I am... I am the composer, the architect, the foundation layer of this here Bálor Club, I am the leader of The Bálor Club, Finn Bálor.

The crowd cheered again as Finn wearing his trademarked leather jacket with Bálor Club written on the back of it smiled at the cheers. He looked around at his team smiling brightly, nodding.

Finn: What a ride these past few weeks have been huh, guys? Have you enjoyed it? We had a jam packed Warfare before Mania, then we had the day itself, Wrestlemania, where my friends behind me did what I knew they could. The thing is, I was backstage the whole night, we had been working for weeks figuring out different sets, different scenarios, working super hard and I know how hard they have worked to get to where they are and that’s a credit to them. Raven, The Miz is one of those people that neither of us could beat, for now, I know you’ll want a rematch just as much as I do, but we’ll wait it out, yeah, we’ll see what happens in the next couple of months. O the other hand, my boys The Guerrillas of Destiny beat two different tag teams to become the Number One Contenders for Rated RKO’s tag titles, I mean, that’s more than could be said for their World Championship match, hey. What was up with that, huh? What so all you gotta do is be under the age of 45, cover yourself in a bit of face paint and a mask and then suddenly you’re involved in putting a stop to one of the best matches in EBWF history? At Wrestlemania, I mean I could have done that. I would have taken the Demon out of retirement to get a shot at that but nobody sent me the memo.

The Bálor Club laughed together.

Finn: Before I get to talking about this coming Monday and my match against The Rock, let me just say a few things. You do not understand the amount of respect I have for all of the wrestlers who have been here over the years, the ones who have turned this company from a small indie company into the giant it is today, Randy, Edge, Chris, Nicole, Wes, The Miz, AJ, and all the others who have done so much work, the respect I have for you guys is ten fold but listen, personally I respect you, professionally you’re either my bosses or your my enemies and when I step into the ring, that’s where it should end, the respect should end there, that’s where I went wrong facing The Miz, I’ve gone over the footage with the guys and we’ve pinpointed places were I got ahead of myself, we’re I wasn’t paying attention, where I took the situation for granted, I’ve spent the past week working on it, trying my best to better myself for the next time I face The Miz and I can promise you, respect will no longer be a problem in my head once I step into this ring.

Finn walked over and leant into the one empty corners. The in ring camera man, walked towards him as he leant back against the ropes.

Finn: Rocky, a legend in the sport, a legend in entertainment, like the rest of them, I have so much respect for you buddy, but now, this is where it ends. You see, you’re a part of a family, aren’t you, a tribal family, a family with heritage that goes back generations, I have a family too, except, in my family, we don’t sit down and eat dinner together, or we don’t do things that your family do, no Sir, my family, is standing in this ring, we are not just a team of like minded individuals, we are a family bonded by sweat and blood and hard work. We train each other, we listen to each other, we console each other, we encourage each other. That is our family. It’s safe to say, Rock, but you stand no chance up against The Bálor Club, because facing me, is essentially facing the GOD, and Raven in a four on one because although they won’t be in the ring with me, they won’t be stood there next to me fighting you, they’ll be in my head and in my heart because we as the Bálor Club are one entity.

Finn went around and fist bumped the rest of the team before going back to the camera.

Finn: and... Rock, I know you’re gonna say some stupid outdated catchphrases that get a cheer from the crowd because of some pent up nostalgia, but the reality of the situation is I’m gonna kick your candy ass and you’re gonna smell what the Bálor Club is cooking. So come Monday, let’s put on a good show, take some time in this busy, busy schedule of yours, fill that need to wrestle once a month and then go back home and keep cashing the pay checks EBWF are giving you for being a part timer. I know it’s the same hashed up bullshit from people who face you, but if you showed your face more often than once every two months, and didn’t keep doing the same shit people moan at you about it wouldn’t be so repetitive, but hey, Rock, you’re old enough now to know better, I’m not going to stand here and patronise you. You’ll face me on Monday and go back for another two months and then you’ll be back whatever the result, so it’s not that big of a deal.

Finn smiled at the camera and everyone started to get ready to leave the ring, the camera panned like it was the end of the segment but then all of a sudden, Finn picks the mic back up.

Finn: One last thing, as the leader of this collective, we have all four of us as single competitors, eligible for any of the championships in EBWF, we have a tag team and other avenues which are eligible for the Tag Team Championships, but there is one thing we are missing... None of us are eligible for the EBWF Woman’s Championship... yet. In the coming weeks, maybe months, The Bálor Club are scouring the globe, looking for someone who will fit into the family. We aren’t going to let anybody join us, like I said before, we are a family, we are in each others head, we train hard, we need to find someone strong enough, mentally and physically to be able to join us on this impactful journey in EBWF, heading closer to domination. For the greater good. Quote the Bálor Club Nevermore...

He dropped the microphone as the four of them did the “too sweet” sign in the middle of the ring before they all left.
