The Biggest Event of the Year

Post by Kyle »

OOC: I love Wrestlemania season here in EBWF, there are so many great Rps written by everyone. I've had permission to use AJ in one of the scenes so I'd like to thank Will for that. I'd like to wish Ryan good luck, I can't wait to read yours. Also good luck to everyone else and I look forward to reading every single one. I will try to comment on most of them. So before this OOC message gets any longer, without further ado... I give you my Rp.

Scene 1

Ted had remained at home since his last appearance on Warfare where he and Rhodes had fought all around the arena during the 6 man tag team main event. He wasn't needed for the final Warfare before Wrestlemania and he simply stayed home and rested some small injuries, particularly his ankle which he had slightly sprained brawling with Cody. Ted decided that he would tape a promo for EBWF.net, hyping his Wrestlemania match  He had set up a webcam in his living room placed in front of his chair. He set a delay timer on his computer giving himself enough time to sit in the chair before the camera starting recording. He was dressed in dark blue jeans and he wore his new official EBWF Ted DiBiase shirt which had his money logo with the words 'Everybody has a price' displayed on the front and his logo and name on the back. The timer hit zero and the webcam began to record.

Ted Jr: Wrestlemania is only a few days away and I will be facing Cody Rhodes... again. I'll give him credit; he took on three former World Champions, just not from EBWF. You have two former WWE Champions in Undertaker and The Rock, both who have passed their prime and shouldn't be wrestling anymore. Then you have a former TNA World Champion in Robert Roode, who didn't even have a good title reign in a second class promotion. Those three men couldn't beat me on my worst day and Cody Rhodes won't be able to beat me on my best day, Wrestlemania. I have held onto this title for 3 months and I'm not giving it up anytime soon. In both of my reigns I have defeated former World Champions; Cody Rhodes has only held the Intercontinental and X-Division Championships. In three years he has held five championship reigns. I've had six. I've won the World Championship, he hasn't. I carried this company and was the greatest singles and tag team wrestler in the winter of 2009. Cody's greatest achievement was beating a 46 year old man barely. My greatest achievement is becoming World Champion, something which I vow to become again this year.

Ted adjusted his position in the chair before continuing to speak.

Ted Jr: Since joining The Trilogy, my career has been on the rise again. I will not let this momentum be stopped by a man who is not in my league. Wrestlemania is the biggest stage in professional wrestling and on that night I will expose you to the masses. They will see who deserves to be called the Path to Glory Champion and who the better wrestler really is. Change might be a good thing for some but it's not for me. The Path to Glory Championship will continue to be in my possession after Wrestlemania and you will fade back into obscurity once again. Enjoy your time in the spotlight while it lasts Cody. See you at Wrestlemania.

Ted got up and ended the recording. It was a strong message that he was sending to Rhodes and it was the best thing to advance the story between the two. Their paths had crossed once more, Ted wanted this to be the final time and if all went according to plan it would be.

Scene 2

Wrestlemania was that one time of year where everyone gave their all. People were hurting but that meant nothing once you walked through the curtain. When you stood on that stage and see and hear the screaming fans in the Edward Jones Dome. Every wrestler on the roster wanted to steal the show and secure a big Wrestlemania pay check and Ted DiBiase was no different. Ted had another reason to fight for his life at Wrestlemania, he wanted to retain his Path to Glory Championship and to also retain his Wrestlemania record and boost it to 3 consecutive wins. After recording his video for the EBWF website Ted had flown off to St. Louis. He had taken a red eye flight to avoid crowds of desperate fans and it served him well. He didn't particularly enjoy the red eye flight but by now he was used to it. Walking through the empty airport early in the morning had a calming effect on Ted. He was in no rush and he was not interrupted by fans or media crew. Ted walked slowly through the airport terminal carrying a small bag with him that contained his Path to Glory Championship and a jacket in it. Ted arrived at the metal detector and put his bag through the x-ray and walked through the scanner. The alarms did not go off but the man who was analysing the images was surprised by what he saw in Ted's bag. He stood up from his seat and walked over to the Path to Glory Champion. The man was middle aged; slightly overweight and he wore the standard airport uniform, long pants, hat and a short sleeved shirt.

Man: Do you mind if I look in the bag sir?

Ted was not too thrilled to be stopped; he wanted to head off to The Four Seasons and rest. He didn't want to have a dumb airport official inspect his bags. He simply nodded at the man who then opened up the bag and found the Path to Glory Championship neatly placed inside. The man reached in and took the title out which annoyed Ted further. The man put the title over his shoulder and then turned around and yelled out to one of his colleagues.

Man: Hey John, have a look at what I found!

The man known as John sauntered over and the two inspected the Championship.

John: Man, that's a great find Harry. We've had a few pro wrestlers come through but not many with championships.

John took the title from Harry and posed with it.

John: Hey Harry, take a photo of me.

Harry took out his iPhone and snapped several pictures, with John changing his pose each time. Ted was now beyond annoyed. He had spent enough time standing around while the two men played with the Championship.

Ted Jr: Look, I really don't care how many times a pro wrestler has come through this god forsaken terminal. Just give me my championship belt and let me go to my hotel.

Harry: We haven't finished examining this object sir; you'll have to be patient.

That was the last straw for Ted.

Ted Jr: Bullshit, you know it's a damn Championship belt. You know I'm an EBWF wrestler and that I'm here for Wrestlemania. I don't need this crap in the morning from two imbeciles. You've got a job to do and so do I. I have appointments now and you're preventing me from fulfilling these. I suppose you know who Wes Ikeda is?

The two men nodded.

Ted Jr: Well when Wrestlemania comes around he is very tightly wound and he wants everything to go off without a hitch. Now you don't want me to call him up right now and tell him why I can't do interviews and promote Wrestlemania do you?

Both John and Harry both stopped messing around and gave Ted his title straight away.

Harry: sorry about the delay sir, please enjoy the rest of your day.

Ted put the championship belt in his bag and walked off. His bluff worked and now he could finally go to his hotel room and relax. In a few days there would be the beginning of his Wrestlemania duties with the Breakfast of Champions on the Friday morning followed by a signing at EBWF Access on Friday and Saturday. Ted exited the airport and quickly hailed a cab and set off to find his hotel room.

Scene 3

Ted DiBiase had known who he would face at Wrestlemania for some time now, which helped his training immensely. His former partner turned rival Cody Rhodes was the man that would try to take his Path to Glory Championship from him. Since arriving in EBWF in the fall of 2009, the two wrestler’s paths had crossed many times with each man defeating the other. The score was almost even, if not slightly in favour of Cody Rhodes. Ted knew that their past would influence his future as champion and he was not prepared to give up his title anytime soon. Still having a couple of days before EBWF Access and the Breakfast of Champions, Ted took the time to drive a few hours to Eldon, Missouri to see his trainer, friend and mentor Harley Race.
Ted had never forgotten his roots and frequently visited Harley Race to train and to learn. Harley Race was one of the best in the business and the amount of knowledge he had was astonishing. Arriving at the Harley Race Wrestling Academy, Ted walked up to the place carrying a small bag with his gear in it. He was quickly greeted by the legend himself Harley Race not long after arriving. The two embraced and began catching up. After some small talk Ted decided to cut to the chase.

Ted Jr: So as you probably know, I've got this match Sunday agains Cody Rhodes.

Harley Race: I know, Wrestlemania is a huge event and I was lucky enough to be apart of Wrestlemania 3 where I won. I know how nervous everyone can get but as long as you go out there and do your best that's all that matters.

Ted was pleased to hear those words of encouragement from Harley and gave a small smile.

Ted Jr: So is anyone in the ring training now? I need to get a workout in before I have Access in a couple of days.

Harley Race: Bill Mueller is in right now training. He was Trevor Murdoch back in the WWE.

Ted let out a small 'ahh', finally making the connection to the name. Ted walked on through and entered the ring with Bill. The two talked briefly before sizing each other up. They then did some quick warm ups before getting into a match. Over the course of the next 20 minutes, Ted and Bill battled each other and tested their endurance, dedication and skill. Once the 20 minutes were up the two shook hands and stepped out of the ring. Harley was waiting outside the ring and gave the two feedback. He was impressed with their showing and gave them small tips to improve their matches. Ted found the advice to be very useful and he would definitely make those changes before Sunday night. After the match Ted went to the gym that Harley had and did a workout there to fill in some time. Once he had completed that he was set to leave. Before going to his car he said goodbye to Harley and thanked Bill once again. Harley accompanied him to his car.

Ted Jr: Thank you once again for everything you've done Harley.

Harley Race: It's no problem kid. I'm old now and I have to pass my knowledge onto the next generation of wrestlers to keep it alive.

Ted searched through his bag and took out a ticket.

Ted Jr: I want you to be there on Sunday. It's front row, so you'll catch all of the action. Consider it a small token of my appreciation.

Harley Race: Thanks Ted. I'll definitely be there.

Ted Jr: Great. Well I best be off now, I have to get back to St. Louis for all of the Wrestlemania events.

Ted stepped into his car and reversed back out of the place. He waved goodbye to Harley and Harley did the same. The small words of advice were great to hear from Harley and they gave Tee confidence going into the biggest match of his career.

Scene 4

EBWF Access was a great event that gave the fans a chance to connect with the EBWF wrestlers. Ted had just attended the Breakfast of Champions with The Miz, Curt Hawkins, Wade Barrett, Sheamus, Jamilia Craft, Mr. Kennedy and Torrie Wilson. It was a great chance to give back to the fans and raise money for charity. Ted's signing began at 11am and he was met by a huge amount of wrestling fanatics. Some simply wore their favourite wrestler's t-shirt whereas others tried to look exactly like their favourite wrestler. One particular fan had spray painted his body white and dyed his hair orange to look like Sheamus. Signing wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. You were in contact with a person for all of 10 seconds before telling them to go away and repeating the same process with another person. Ted tried not to say much to people other than the casual 'Hi, how are you?'. Being a bad guy on TV made his line a lot shorter than if he was a fan favourite. Guys like Zack Ryder and Mr. Kennedy had huge lines of fans lining up to get a chance to meet them. Ted still had a lot of fans who actually appreciated his work but not as many as others had. The occasional person asked for a photo, and because he wasn't too busy Ted obliged. He decided that for one day he would be a good guy and give back to the fans. After all, without them there would be no EBWF and he wouldn't be getting a pay check. Ted's line had finally cleared and he had a chance to relax for a moment. Ted took a drink from his water bottle and tried to get some feeling back into his hand after signing for a couple of hours. Signing with Allen was a good way to keep the day going fast. Though their relationship was strained on TV it was the complete opposite outside of the ring. Since the initially working with each other in their brief feud, the two had become friends and when Ted was given the opportunity to work with Allen and Mike it was much easier after previously working with Allen. Ted's line was still empty, though every so often there was one or two people asking for quick autographs, other than that Ted just sat back and relaxed. Allen wasn't so lucky and his line was fairly full, but he powered through and managed to get it all done. Once both lines were completely empty the two sat back and talked something they hadn't been able to do freely.

Ted Jr: Looking forward to Sunday? Big match between you and Mike.

Allen Jones: I'm nervous but I know that Mike and I will make it work, we've gone over what we need to do and we're happy with what we've come up with. How about you, Cody is no slouch in the ring so you'll both be able to put on one hell of a match.

Ted Jr: Yeah, Cody and I have always enjoyed working with each other. After working together when I debuted in the WWE and continuing when we worked with Orton in Legacy, we were really comfortable in the ring. We know each other's styles and hopefully we can steal the show.

Ted smirked after his final comment, trying to get under Allen's skin a bit. Allen gave him a light punch in the arm.

Allen Jones: Sure you will Ted. We'll both be competing to try and outdo each other.

Ted Jr: I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

Ted picked up his bottle of water and began to drink. While Ted was drinking his water a young child, who was only about five years old, and his father walked up to Ted.

Father: Hi Mr. DiBiase, is my son able to get a photo with you? He's a huge fan of you, even though you go around beating up guys like Jeff Hardy and Cody Rhodes.

Ted got up from his seat and picked up his Path to Glory Championship which was spread out across the table before walking around to greet the kid. Ted kneeled down so he was level with the kid before talking to him.

Ted Jr: So you're a big fan are you? Do you always go for the bad guys?

Kid: Yeah!

Ted laughed a little bit.

Ted Jr: Do you want to hold my title while we take the picture?

The kid's face lit up and Ted passed him the title. The kid tried his best to hold it and Ted saw he was having difficulty so he helped him put it over his shoulder. Ted kneeled down with his hand around the kid as the father took the photo for them. Once the photo was taken Ted stood up and the kid passed him back the title.

Kid: I'll be going for you when you fight Cody. I hope you kick his butt!

Ted Jr: You can bet that I will. I'm not the champion for no reason. Enjoy your day kid.

Father: Thanks a lot.

The kid and his father left as Ted went back to his seat. Speaking with the kid, however brief it was, gave Ted a new perspective on his match. Not only did he want to go out there and defend his title and his Wrestlemania streak, but he wanted to go out there and make that kid happy and hundreds of other kids miserable. Sitting back down, Ted grabbed his water and took another sip. While he did this Allen, who had been sitting there the entire time looked at him and simply stared. Ted put his water down.

Allen Jones: So much for being a heel.

Ted put his hands out and shrugged his shoulders.

Ted Jr: What? Can't I be a good guy for one day?

Allen Jones: Whatever bro.

The two laughed and before they could stop they were bombarded by a large group of fans and they were back to signing.

Scene 5

Wrestlemania was only a few hours away and everyone was frantically running around trying to prepare and get everything ready for the big event. Ted still had to do a promo that would be shown before his match. He was already in his ring gear and he sat in his locker room listening to his iPod, getting pumped up for the big event. Everyone was nervous, but that nervous energy was what he needed to push him further and to have a great match. While he was sitting down, the door to his locker room swung open and Michael Cole came walking in with a small handheld camera. Ted saw Michael and sighed heavily.

Michael Cole: Heya Ted, I'm so excited that I get to interview the Path to Glory Champion. All this work with you, AJ and Miz has to make me an unofficial Trilogy member.

As soon as Michael had mentioned himself being a member of The Trilogy, Ted quickly sorted him out.

Ted Jr: Let me get this through your thick skull. You're not in The Trilogy. You're not a member, official or unofficial. You fetch us coffee, you film our promos and you act like a Justin Beiber fan while we're around but that does not make you a member.

Ted's stern words sent Michael crashing down from his high. Michael dropped his head and quietly mumbled.

Michael Cole: Okay.

Ted stood up from his seat and got straight to business.

Ted Jr: Turn that camera on now and start recording. You're going to be interviewing me. So try to act happy. If you do a good job I'll give you an official Trilogy baseball cap.

Michael's face lit up when he heard 'Trilogy' and 'official'.

Michael Cole: Sure thing, boss.

Ted Jr: Call me Mr. DiBiase or Champ. You can refer to me as Ted, but only on camera.

Michael Cole: Yes Mr. DiBiase.

Michael had turned on the camera and began to record. He held it while asking questions from behind the camera so only Ted was on the screen.

Michael Cole: Good evening everyone and welcome to Wrestlemania 11, tonight has a stellar line up with Trilogy members AJ Styles and The Miz colliding in what is sure to be a Wrestlemania classic. Also tonight is a match between two bitter rivals Cody Rhodes and the man standing before you, He is the Path to Glory Champion and Trilogy member, Ted DiBiase!

Ted gave a slight nod after the introduction from Michael Cole.

Michael Cole: So Ted, you have a long history with Cody Rhodes, both of you starting out as tag team partners before forming an alliance with Randy Orton as the Legacy. When you both arrived in EBWF you became partners once more and won the Tag Team Championships. How will your knowledge of your opponent help you here tonight?

Ted Jr: Cody and I have had an intertwined path since we have started wrestling on the highest stage. I've shown to everyone that I am the future and I have proven that Cody is nothing more than a follower. But no matter how hard I try to get rid of him out of my life he always finds a way to come back and get on my nerves. If anyone remembers at Wrestlemania 9 he interfered in my Tag Team Championship match against The Kings of Wrestling. I had taken him out months before but I didn't do a good enough job and he returned. Fast forward two years later and I have the chance to embarrass him on the biggest stage in professional wrestling. I can and will stop him from becoming Path to Glory Champion and make sure he ends up like his no good father and his freak of a half-brother.

Michael Cole: That's some harsh words towards a legend like Dusty Rhodes and the Bizarre One, Goldust.

Ted Jr: Goldust is nothing more than a freak that paints himself gold. Dusty is only remembered for his insane ramblings on every Botchamania episode.

Michael Cole: Speaking about you knowing all about Cody, the same thing can be applied to you. How do you go into a match knowing that your opponent has you scouted?

Ted Jr: I just need to change it up. I know I can pull off any move that can end the match then and there, but at the end of the day it will come down to who wants it more. Do I want to remain champion? Of course I do. Do I want to lose to Cody of all people? Hell no.

Michael Cole: Any final words?

Cole focused the camera more towards Ted's face to see the emotion. It was written on Ted's face. He was focused, determined and ready for this match.

Ted Jr: Tonight Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase go to war. The victor walks away with the Path to Glory Championship, the loser is left lying in that ring with nothing but disappointment and a memory that they will never forget. Every wrestler talks of their Wrestlemania moment, mine is defeating Cody Rhodes, proving that I am better than him and walking out of St. Louis STILL the Path to Glory Champion.

Michael stopped recording and looked at Ted who was still pumped up from his final words.

Michael Cole: That was aw-

Ted quickly interrupted him before he could get started.

Ted Jr: Get out.

Michael was caught off by Ted's blunt statement.

Michael Cole: But... but-

Ted rummaged through his bag and picked out a Trilogy baseball cap.

Ted Jr: There's your stupid baseball cap, now get the hell out.

Ted threw the cap at the door, trying to get Michael out as quickly as possible.

Ted Jr: NOW!!

Michael Cole quickly ran to the door and picked up his cap before exiting quickly. Once he was gone Ted paced around the room, muttering to himself quietly before increasing the volume of his words.

Ted Jr: I can do this. I can do this. I CAN DO THIS! I CAN DO THIS!

Ted hit his hands on his head a couple of times before exiting his locker room. It was time to put up or shut up. The time for talking was over and now he had to put on the best performance of his career to not only satisfy the crowd, EBWF management, but most importantly himself. He was his biggest critic and anything short of the best match of his career would be unacceptable.
