We join Renee Young backstage with a mic in hand, consummate professional that she is. Behind her we see the usual backdrop with interspersed EBWF and Warfare logos as decoration for official interviews. Standing next to her is Maika, red t-shirt over her ring gear and a few spots of her body bearing noticeable athletic tape. The powerhouse's gaze is distant, her mind clearly elsewhere.

RENEE YOUNG: Maika, welcome back to EBWF! You haven't been in action since your loss to Sakisama at Last Survivor; how does it feel knowing you'll be back in an EBWF ring tonight?

Maika pauses, looks off at something just out of view and, finally, shrugs.

MAIKA: Doesn't feel any different. I'm still frustrated at how my tittle shot went, I'm disappointed in myself, and the person I care the most about still laughs in my face. In the end the only thing for sure about tonight is that someone's going to be hurting. Maybe it's me, maybe it's Jamie. Maybe it's both.

RENEE YOUNG: Last year you made it to the quarterfinals of the tournament before falling to Sakisama. What are your thoughts heading into your second Queen of the Ring tournament?

MAIKA: Sakisama's lucky she's not here to fight me again, because I would tear her apart. Tournaments like this are something I always seem to come up short in, so I'd like to make everyone die on my way to the crown. I really hate Oedo Tai too, so Jamie better expect that I'm coming in with extra motivation to put her in the ground.

There's an awkward pause as Renee waits for Maika to add any other comments, but the Red Empress has nothing left to say. Before Renee can ask any further questions Maika nods gruffly and marches off, ready to throw down right then and there.
