10 possible replacements for Wes Ikeda.
The events of Wednesday evening were probably the most tragic in the history of Pro Wrestling. bleacherreport.com would like to express condolences for those deceased and injury during the shooting at EBWF HQ. Resiliency is imprinted in EBWF's genetic code, over and over again they have faced adversity and come on top. However, this time the circumstances this time seems much more adverse than ever before.
Despite not knowing the CEO's condition and no official medical statement made yet, it was confirmed on the official EBWF Twitter account that Fanniversary will go on as planned, with Wes Ikeda being pulled out of the match he had with Chris Jericho. Here are ten possible replacements for him. EBWF is probably going all out with a huge star to fill in for Ikeda. Superstars under contract with other promotions weren't considered, picks are arranged from least to most likely:
10. The Rock
Having just finished shooting FAST SIX, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been talking about a part time role in wrestling. He was with EBWF between 2009 and 2010, he was No Limits champion and even competed for the World Title at some point. Despite the infamous appearance of Wes Ikeda's bitter rival Vince McMahon at a house show which was reportedly what caused The Rock's push to last mere weeks, Johnson is on good terms wih EBWF. He and Jericho also go back from when he and Lance Storm had a brief feud with the Rock and Sock connection. Could the Great One Electrify Fanniversary, even while not under an EBWF contract?
9. Brian Kendrick
Brian Kendrick's status with the EBWF is currently unknown. That doesn't mean he couldn't make an appearance at Fanniversary to fill in for the chairman. We shouldn't get our hopes up, because Kenrick has fallen under the radar for quite some time now.
8. A new superstar?
It would seem like the perfect time for a new superstar to make his EBWF in a PPV. Anything could happen!
7. Triple H
Hunter has barely been seen in public since he retired from EBWF, his contractual status with EBWF is unknown but he would make a triumphant return if needed, specially during rough times like these.
6. Sting
Reports have emerged throughout the year about the Icon wanting to have "One more run" at EBWF, no official statements have been issued, however.
5. Edge
EBWF's ultimate opportunist just vanished from EBWF TV some months ago. His contractual situation with EBWF is unknown despite being apparently on good terms with the board of directors. Edge and Jericho could tear the house down... Given they have some history from when Jericho led FedEx and Edge was part of Rated RKO. It would be a major shock to see someone like Edge just pop from behind the curtain!
4. Randy Orton
Like his former tag team partner, Randy has opted to lay low from EBWF Television for a while, the last time he was seen was at Wrestlemania, in a brutal match with Kendrick. Orton is still under contract with EBWF and could fill in for his brother in law.
3. Lance Storm
The Phil Collins hating, Jonathan Coachman super kicking machine is currently under EBWF contract and he has worked a couple of matches in the past couple of months. He is unlikely to match up against Jericho, so if he were to be involved in the match it would be a Tag match. Would the Thrillseekers reunite at Fanniversary?
2. Jeff Hardy
The Charismatic Enigma has been on and off in EBWF television since his return last year. He has been expecting a moment to shine and what better time than now that EBWF needs all the "Star power" as possible?
1. John Cena
John Cena has been all over the news as of late. Sadly, not because of his wrestling abilities. Much like Jeff Hardy, this could be the chance John Cena needs to get back in the spotlight, to slam all of the rumours about his dismissal from the company once and for all. Will the champ be there at Fanniversary?
Honorable mention: BRADEN WALKER.
Cause he's modatruckin' Braden Walker, isn't it? Would the biggest star ever knock Jericho's brains out at Fanniversary? Or even better... Would he put his arms on his hips?
