OOC: Good luck to Miles and to everyone writing for the PPV.
Two hundred and seventy-five. That WAS the record for the longest reign in EBWF history. On October 31 Ted DiBiase had surpassed that day and created his own record. 10 months had gone past and with that came many victories for the third generation star. However one goal had eluded him for far too long. Even though Ted DiBiase had an impressive Path to Glory Championship reign, he had failed in his attempts at becoming the World Champion. In the 10 months that Ted had been champion the landscape of EBWF had slowly begun to change and one person had staked their claim as the face of EBWF. CM Punk had slowly but surely become the face of EBWF, becoming the King of the Ring and going on to become the World Champion. Their match on Sunday had sent Ted back in time to the beginning of 2010. Like now, EBWF had gone through change and CM Punk had become World Champion for the first time, defeating Ted DiBiase in the World Title Tournament finals. In what was the beginning of Ted's first major feud in EBWF, Ted and Punk were not seen as the best in EBWF. Two years on and the two would once again be headlining a Pay Per View and their match would be a definite Match of the Year candidate. They had previously wrestled in standard singles matches but this time it would be different. As chosen by the interim CEO Chris Jericho, Ted DiBiase and CM Punk would compete in a Three Stages of Hell match. 3 matches, the first would be a standard match, followed by a Street Fight and if required, the final fall would be contested in a Steel Cage. Two years ago, Punk and DiBiase weren't considered to be worthy of holding the World Championship but now they were. Ted had experienced a lot in his tenure in EBWF. He had captured the World Championship once, the Tag Team Championship three times- once with CM Punk, and he is the only person to hold the Path to Glory Championship more than once.
Before Ted was set to face CM Punk at Survivor Series there was still one house show that he had to attend only 3 days prior to the Pay Per View. After the current match had ended and the ring was cleared Cult of Personality by Living Color blasted over the PA system and the crowd was ecstatic and cheered loudly for the World Champion. Instead of CM Punk walking out from the backstage area it was Ted DiBiase wearing jeans and his new EBWF shirt which had his name and logo the front and on the back it had the words "The Real Best in the World". Ted copied Punk's entrance, kneeling down and checking his wrist before yelling "It's clobbering time!” The crowd's cheers turned to boos as Ted walked down to the ring. He received a microphone and stood alone in the ring with his Path to Glory Championship proudly displayed around his waist. Ted took the championship from around his waist and placed it on the ground before sitting down and crossing his legs just like CM Punk. He positioned the belt over his right shoulder before speaking.
Ted Jr: Did you expect to see the World Champion, CM Punk?
The crowd cheered after hearing Punk's name.
Ted Jr: After this Sunday CM Punk will become an afterthought and I will become the greatest champion ever. I will become the second person to hold the Path to Glory Championship and World Championship simultaneously; the first man to do so is the current champion. CM Punk has had an impressive year, nobody can deny that. He defeated a very pissed off John Cena; he won the King of the Ring Tournament and then became World Champion. Sounds like a good year. Now let's see what I've done this year. I've returned from a serious leg injury that would normally end someone's career. In my first match back I won the Path to Glory Championship. Since winning this championship I have defeated legends, World Champions, Olympic Gold Medallists and in August I became the longest reigning Path to Glory Champion in history, beating CM Punk's record. But I didn't just stop there. I wasn't content with breaking just one record. I wanted to put my name at the top of the list. I wanted to become the greatest champion of all time and at the end of October I achieved that goal. Take a photo everybody; you're looking at the longest reigning PTG Champion, the only man to ever hold the PTG Championship on more than one occasion and the longest reigning champion in EBWF history. I have held this championship for a grand total of 298 days. On Sunday I will have held the championship for 301 days and mark my first day as the new World Champion. Nobody can deny that the title of "Best in the World" belongs to me.
The crowd booed Ted after he called himself the best in the world. Signs around the arena read "DiBiase sucks" and "CM Punk Best in the World". The crowd was completely on Punk's side and loathed Ted.
Ted Jr: You people fail to recognise the pure talent that appears before you.
Ted got to his feet.
Ted Jr: I am the greatest thing to happen to EBWF. For 3 years I have competed here and constantly outshined everyone in this company. Did I receive the same treatment as some? No. Did people receive title shots that I should have been given? Of course. But I have waited and waited for my time and it is now. 2012 has been the year that I have shown everybody what I can do. I have shown that I can beat former World Champions and defeat EBWF legends. Before people didn't see me as a threat and took me lightly. After 10 months as Path to Glory Champion, nobody should see me as anything less than a serious threat. The title of Best in the World belongs to me, and come this Sunday I will once again have the World Heavyweight Championship in my possession and there's not a damn thing that Punk can do to stop me.
DiBiase dropped the microphone and left the ring as Heroes began to play over the PA system.
Scene 2
Survivor Series was being held in San Antonio at the AT&T Center, and Ted DiBiase was ready to go for his first PPV main event in 2012. In his personal locker room, Ted was sitting in the corner of the room on a bench with his bags placed on the floor and his Path to Glory Championship resting on his lap. Ted had earphones in and was listening to music while staring at his championship. He didn't hear Michael Cole and the camera man enter the locker room and when Cole called out to DiBiase he was ignored. Michael Cole walked up to Ted and tapped him on the shoulder, which made Ted quickly turn to Cole and he gave him a filthy stare before taking out his earphones.
Ted Jr: What?
The tone in DiBiase's voice said it all. He didn't want to talk, he wanted to go out and wrestle. Cole looked nervously at Ted before speaking.
Michael Cole: Umm, you were scheduled to have your interview over 15 minutes ago. I thought I'd see if you were still in your locker room. How about we just have it here?
Ted sighed before nodding as Cole turned to the camera man to get him prepared while Ted stood up. Once everything was set up the interview began straight away.
Michael Cole: Welcome everybody to Survivor Series live at the AT&T Center and at this time I am with Ted DiBiase who is set to take on CM Punk for the World Championship. This whole feud started back at Fanniversary when you attacked Punk after his match, but that failed and Punk hit you with the GTS and then the Coast to Coast. Things didn't start out well for you Ted.
Ted Jr: Like I said on the Warfare after Fanniversary, making my presence felt after the Fanniversary was what I wanted to do. Since AJ Styles lost I put my name to the top of the list. And why not? After successfully defending my PTG Championship that night I became the longest reigning champion in EBWF history. My history with Punk dates back to when I first arrived in EBWF. Punk defeated me to become the World Champion for the first time and then I defeated him for it. Later in the year we won the Tag Team Championships together and last year I ended his 6 month PTG Championship reign when I pinned him in the centre of the ring. Punk may be seen as the top dog in EBWF but when it comes to facing me I have his number. I can take championships from him, and tonight will be no different. I know what he is capable of and I know counters to everything he does.
Michael Cole: On the last Warfare you managed to pin the champion when you faced him and Trent Barreta with your partner Kane. What will that crucial pin over the champion do to you going into this match?
Ted Jr: It gives me the momentum. And it proves that Punk is not invincible. Punk may have beaten AJ Styles and John Cena in high profile matches but I am more of a threat than they are. Everybody writes me off and that will make this victory even sweeter when I can hold the World Championship and Path to Glory Championship proudly to everybody in the AT&T Center.
Ted displayed his PTG Championship so the camera man could see it clearly.
Ted Jr: I have held this for over 300 days. But I'm not content with 300. I will hold this championship for one whole year and I will also hold the World Championship once more.
Michael Cole: Now your match tonight will be a three stages of hell match. The first fall is a regular Singles match, followed by a Street Fight and if it is required, the third fall will be contested in a Steel Cage. How is this different to just a normal match?
Ted Jr: The tactics are totally different. I have to have the endurance to hold out for three falls and as the match wears on both of us will be fatigued. If it gets to that last fall it will take all of my strength to climb over that cage. But what drives me is my desire for that title. I'll take everything that Punk dishes out and return it in kind. I'll suffer and I'll make him suffer and this will be a brutal match there's no doubt about it. In the end it will be down to who wants the championship more.
Michael Cole: At the King of the Ring PPV you faced AJ Styles for the World Championship and you went on to face Styles, Miz and Rhodes in a fatal four way.
Ted Jr: But I haven't managed to main event a PPV yet. Do you know who main evented those PPVs?
Michael Cole: CM Punk?
Ted Jr: CM Punk. The one and only. I am sick of seeing CM Punk main event when I should be the one main eventing every PPV. Could Punk hold the PTG Championship for 300 days? No. Could he hold any championship for 300 days? No. I am breaking records every single day as Path to Glory Champion. People used to refer to this championship as Punk's championship. But who ended that reign of his? That's right I did. This isn't Punk's championship it's mine. And later on tonight the World Championship will be mine as well.
Ted was motivated and pumped up as he left his locker room leaving Cole to wrap up the interview.
Michael Cole: That was Ted DiBiase everybody. Stay tuned to see Punk and DiBiase battle for the World Championship.
Ted walked down the halls of the AT&T Center and his stern expression turned to calmness. Ted knew what was required and a cool head was needed. Just one mistake could cost him a fall and in order to not make mistakes he had to remain calm. He had his eyes on the prize and with a victory tonight it would define his legacy and top off an already great year for the son of the Million Dollar Man.
