Dealing with a loss

Post by Santino »

(There are many things in this world we deem as impossible. Man walking on the moon for example? Some said it couldn't be done, many still believe it hasn't. But for the majority, we accept that yes, man has infact stepped foot on the face in the sky. There are also some less important but nonetheless puzzling things which happen, such as why is xfactor still on TV? Or why hasn't someone put a bullet in Simon Cowell? And along those same lines, another question could be posed...how in the hell did an overgrown, steroid abusing ogre like Batista, best Mr Santino Marella? That is a question that has been on the minds of many since Monday night Warfare. None more so than Santino himself! Sure the match was tough, and neither Batista or Tensai were push overs. But were they in the same league as Santino? Did they ever truly get the better of him? The only true question that demands answering, is who in the EBWF management wants to see Santino go down? There is not a wrestling fan or pundit alive, who would have given that match to Batista. That is a simple fact of science. He was out smarted, out wrestled and completely out of his depth)

(The scene opens briefly just after Monday Night Warfare has been aired. We are in the backstage area and all the wrestlers who require a small amount of medical attention are being dealt with. We see Santino sat at a medical table clutching at his ribs. He turns to face the camera with a stern scowl)

Santino: Get that thing out of my face!

(Santino doesn't look like a person to be messed with. He seems in visible pain and clearly not impressed with tonight's outcome. Tonight was his debut here in EBWF, he wanted the world to see what he was made of. He wanted to start the year off on a high, and start his career here with a win. But nothing could have prepared him for the reality of what he is now trying to face. The reality that he will begin his career with a loss. A loss to a man who is rarely seen around the walls of EBWF, a man who clearly shows no interest in the place and just turns up when he feels like it. A man who clearly doesn't know the meaning of the words, 'just say no'. But this is all history, the match is finished and whatever the outcome, Santino must move forward. He has to let the pain and anger of this loss pass by and focus on the future. Focus on getting back healthy and then onto his next match)

Santino: I said get that fu...

(Before Santino could finish, an eager and excited Michael Cole enters the area. He strides past all the other wrestlers receiving treatment and aims directly for Santino)

Michael Cole: Santino! Mind if we catch a few words with you about tonight's show?

(The expression on Santinos face was that of pure irritation. He had a few unattended lacerations on his face, as well as what seemed like a few bruised ribs. He had not spoken to anyone since his loss, and now was not the time to change that)

Santino: Does it look like I'd mind? I mean, it's not like I've literally just finished a match and have blood pouring down my face. Not like my chest feels on fire and I can't bend without my ribs feeling like they'll all snap! Oh no, course not'!!! I'm in the perfect mood and shape to be chatting about what a screw job night it was!!!

Michael Cole: Screw job?

Santino: Yeah you heard me, screw job! But the point I was making was, I'm not in the mood for talking!!!

(Unfortunately for Santino, Michael Cole has been doing this job for a very long time. And because of that, he knows exactly how to get what he needs out of people for interviews)

Michael Cole: That's a very serious accusation Mr Santino. Could you elaborate on what you mean by, 'screw job'?

Santino: Isn't it obvious? I'm sure the fans could explain it for you! I was robbed tonight! Robbed of my time to shine! Robbed of my chance to begin my career here with a win! A 100% record! Instead, look where I am!!!

Michael Cole: So you're saying Batista doesn't deserve the win? He cheated? The ref cheated? Tensai was in on it too?

(Although not the brightest spark and with English being his second language, Santino still managed to pick up the sarcasm in Michael Coles voice)

Santino: You make me sounds stupid Cole! That isn't what I'm saying at all! I'm saying I deserved the win, simple as! Yet here I sit, bloody and bruised and with a loss in my career record! You think this was how it was supposed to happen? You think this is what I spent all my time training for? Well let me tell you Michael 'smart ass' Cole! It wasn't!!! I don't care what anyone says! That was my match for the taking! I was the superior wrestler here tonight and for whatever reason, it didn't happen. Whether that be the ref in on it or the management or whatever the hell else, I know what should of happened, AND IT DIDN'T!!!

(Santino's voice begins to raise towards the end of his rant, causing the other wrestlers to look over. It made Cole very anxious and perhaps felt he took the issue a little too far. Santino was clearly not in the mood to talk in depth about his match and perhaps his feelings too fresh on the matter, cannot think with a straight head. Cole begins to make his excuses and backs off from the escalating confrontation)

Michael Cole: Well thank you for your time Mr Marella. Good luck with your recovery.

(Santino let's out a huff)

Santino: Whatever!

(The scene begins to fade out, with the last images being that of Santino getting treatment for his cuts and bruises...the scene reopens a day later inside Santinos home. He is sat reclined in his black leather lazy boy chair. Beside him is a table with a bottle of beer resting on it. It is half empty with 3 other bottles completely empty next to it. The sun is low indicating early morning. Santino is wearing a pair of baggy green shorts an a white vest top, he is unshaven and not looking in the best of shape. The cuts on his face are cleaned up and you can make out a small bandage round his midsection underneath his vest. As he begins to take another large gulp of his beer, his phone rings. He lets a out a grunt and a sigh before hauling himself off his chair, and heading towards the phone)

Santino: What?

(Santinos demeanour has dramatically changed since Monday night. No longer does he seem his normal, happy go lucky self. He seems very disjointed, very on edge. But his mood begins to change slightly with what appears to be more happy news on the other end of the phone)

Santino: Oh really? That quick? Yeah sure, ill be ready. Cheers.

(Santino hangs up the phone. He seems in a more lighter, less stressful mood now. Strange how one phone call can change a person so quick and so much. He heads back to his chair and finishes off his remaining beer. He then leaves his living room and heads towards his bathroom. He stands in front of his sink, facing his mirror and begins dousing himself with handfuls of water, perhaps in an attempt to wake up and get himself out of this 'funk' he is in)

Santino: Come on Santino! This isn't you! I better than this! One loss, so what? He got lucky, and that's it. I'll get my revenge, and I'll get my rematch against Batista! He'll regret everything about Monday night soon enough!

(Santino continues washing his face, pausing every so often to talk to himself)

Santino: Wade Barrett? Another rookie they have sent me to school? Yeah sure, I'm grateful for match I suppose. Getting back on the horse as they say. But surely I deserve better opponents than this? It seems they just use me to test out the new talent! Well no more! I've had enough! No longer will Santino be held down by 'the man'. Come Monday Night Warfare ill batter Barrett so badly, they will never again give me an inferior, rookie opponent! They will see my skill, witness my greatness, and FINALLY listen to what the fans tell them...that I am destined for great things!

(Santino splashes himself one final time, before drying off. The scene fades, leaving Santino staring intently into his bathroom mirror. This time, he will not make the same mistake. He will leave that ring on Monday night as the victor. He will not take Wade Barrett lightly)

Improvement on spelling and punctuation, but you could still use a spell checker.

Also, I kind of got the gist, but it might have been pertinent for Santino to explain to Michael Cole why he's not funny anymore and why he doesn't speak with an accent. Otherwise, I'm like... who is this, and what did he do with Santino. Sunofmagun!

:)

You like it then? Like a little more serious Santino? He's still funny, but with pinch of stern purpose. And I figured in real life Santino wouldn't be in the mood to explain himself to anyone after that loss. He was very pissed :p
