Every story needs a beginning..

Post by WadeBarrett »

*Not roleplayed properly for the best part of ten years and the first one in a fed is always the hardest, I know that now for certain! Not very long and not great, just wanted some sort of base for the character and wanted to show for the match. Please contact me if you have any storyline ideas (theramseyledge@hotmail.com) Thanks.*

The Spire in Preston, an old fashioned, shabby, rustic pub that sits on a lonely street in a quiet town that lives in the shadow of neighbouring city Manchester. North west England, a far cry from the bright lights and the glitz and glamour of middle America where fame and power and status is everything. A quiet Tuesday afternoon in the tavern, a few of the regulars stand in their usual spots at the bar sipping ale while a lone individual sits in the corner of the room. Wade Barrett ofcourse, back in his hometown and back to where it all began for him. The Spire was the venue where Barrett made his name as a brutal bare knuckle fighter and he was in a reminiscent mood. Posters hung from the walls depicting Barrett during his most bloody and callous battles. That was all in the past though now.

Barrett rubbed his thick beard as he read a local newspaper and drank his pint of bitter. His hair was slightly longer and in disarray. He wore indigo jeans, dark brown hiker boots and a cream cable knit jumper underneath a thick wax jacket. He did not look out of place what so ever, this was home for the wrestler, he was relaxed. The peacefulness of the room was disturbed when the door swung open and a man walked in, slamming the door behind him like he was in an urgent mood. The man was in his late 50s, overweight and was wearing a suit with glasses. He looked around the bar before seeing Barrett and he headed straight towards him.

"Wade, I've been looking all over for you. What are you doing here? Why are you drinking that shit you're meant to be keeping in shape?"

The man snatched the drink away from Barrett he didn't look too impressed.

"When I want advice on my nutrition and diet Charlie, you will be the last person I will come to. What the hell do you want anyway? I don't want anyone bothering me today."

Charlie, pulled up a seat and sat opposite Barrett on a small wooden table.

"I have news so good big guy that a simple e-mail or fax wasn't good enough, I had to come and see you myself and tell you."

"This better be good otherwise that glass is going straight into your head."

"This is the best possible news Wade. Big guy, you're back in the game."

Charlie reached into his inside suit pocket and pulled out an envelope which had the EBWF logo incrested on the front.

"I've got you a booking. OK, it's not great but you're on TV and they've put you on the card against some chump. It's a great opportunity and I've had to pull a lot of strings to get you back in Wade. All you need to do is sign this contract and you're back on the EBWF roster. So...what do you say?"

Barrett stared blankly at Charlie and then the envelope infront of him. He opened the envelope and read the contract slowly. A smile spread across his face and he reached and shook Charlie's hand.

"Well I have to say Charlie, you have well and truly outdone yourself this time. This is a suprise."

"I'm your agent Wade, I have your best interests at heart. I knew how much you wanted to get back into the sport and here is your chance."

"I appreciate everything you've done for me Charlie including this but you must know that this is it."

Barrett is no longer smiling or being merry. He stares at Charlie who is still sat opposite him.

"This is it?"

"Yes Charlie, this is it. This is the end for you and me. You are no longer my agent. I work alone now, it's easier."

A look of pure disbelief spreads across the face of Charlie. Sweat dripping off his forehead.

"You're joking right Wade? I have just got you a deal to get back into the top professional wrestling federation on the planet, I DID THAT FOR YOU and now you tell me you no longer require my services?!"

Charlie is furious, he bangs his fist on the table before getting to his feet and knocking his chair over.

"Calm down Charlie, it's nothing personal. I think you're a good guy, I've always liked you it's just, this time, I don't need any distractions. Like I said I appreciate all the work you and your company have done for me but thats it now, no more gimmicks no more agents. It's just me Wade Barrett and me only, I look after number one."

Charlie is waving his arms about in pure rage, even to the point where the locals are turning around to look.

"Fuck you Wade and as for the contract, you can kiss that goodbye."

Charlie snatches the contract away from Barrett and starts to tear it to shreds.

"You'll never get anywhere without me Wade, you'll never get back into the EBWF, you're a bum thats why they dropped you the first time..."

Barrett then grabbed hold of Charlie just after he threw the last of the contract around the room.

"That's too bad Charles. Good job I have another contract in my pocket.."

"Another Cont..."

Barrett then headbutted Charlie who collapsed to the floor. He leaned over the fallen body smiling, he reached into his jacket pocket and revealed another contract from the EBWF and whispered in Charlie's ear.

"I was going to be polite Charlie but the truth is, I don't like you and never had. You might need an aspirin for your headache in the morning, take care old friend."

Barrett then stepped over Charlie who lay helpless on the floor. He took another look at the contract in his hand before putting it back into his jacket pocket and leaving the pub.
