Chopping Block

Post by Miles »

A well kept if not gloomy decorum. A pair of wide doors were creaked open as Todd Grisham inched his way inside. He inspected his surroundings, including the black and white checkered floor tile's he stood upon. It looked as though he had stepped onto the set of a Tim Burton movie. Some sort of strange animal skull with large horns was mounted onto one of the walls. Odd stuffed animals sat on a counter but they looked more like taxidermy nightmares. Stitched up, lifeless and some missing eye sockets. Deep purple curtains with spider web designs on them were opened slightly to allow a trickle of sunlight to shine in. A large, king sized bed was positioned in the corner, covered in grey and violet sheets and blankets. The owner of the home sat on a medieval styled chair with a grinning jack 'o lantern foot stool resting underneath of her soles.

Todd Grisham: "Daffney?"

And there she was. Calm. Subdued. Not at all maniacal, laughing or screaming. She wore a black dress with a white collared fabric underneath of it. A small, black top hat rest upon the corner of her scalp. Her legs folded slowly, covered by a pair of black and white colored stockings. A fork carefully made it's way between her lips as she nibbled on the sweet she was eating, the remains resting on a small, white plate.

Daffney: "You've arrived."

She lifted her head. Her face was a pale white color and dark make up was spread underneath of her eyes.

Todd Grisham: "You have a very..ah..interesting home."

Daffney didn't respond. She just took another small bite. She seemed much more in control than the last time she appeared on EBWF programming.

Todd Grisham: "Would you like to get this interview under way?"

Daffney: "Let's."

Todd sat in another of the chairs that evoked thoughts of torture. He wasn't necessarily comfortable with this but the EBWF was filled with characters and he was thankful not be threatened. Yet.

Todd Grisham: "We're on the eve of you challenging long reining champion Jamilia Craft for her Sky High Title. When we last saw you, however, your brief partnership with Kelly Kelly dissolved right before our eyes."

Daffney: "Yes."

Her response was glib and brief.

Todd Grisham: "Your alliance did seem at least somewhat successful at first."

Daffney: "It was unfortunate. But Kelly's lack of dedication was irritating."

Todd Grisham: "She is no longer a part of this company as a result.."

Daffney: "Like I said..it was unfortunate."

Todd Grisham: "The Bella Twins, your opponents on that evening, fared much worse. You assaulted them with a chair. They physically couldn't compete anymore. What drove you to do something like that? As far as we all know, you didn't have any issue with them.."

Daffney took one final bite and placed the fork and saucer aside.

Daffney: "I didn't take my dose of medication that afternoon."

The interviewer looked slightly stunned at the explanation before he leaned forward in his chair.

Todd Grisham: "You..didn't take your..medication?"

Daffney: "Yes. It keeps me calm. That afternoon I didn't feel like I needed it. I suppose I was wrong. But taking it also gives me a sweet tooth. Hence the snack. But it also gives me a much clearer that of mind. Which is why you saw me acting so erratically."

The Zombie Queen gave her shoulders a light shrug.

Daffney: "It isn't as if anyone is going to miss those three any way."

Todd Grisham: "With all that aside, you've been granted a title match as I side earlier. Young Jamilia Craft. The 2011 Female of the Year. And our viewers will probably remember that you two were once members of The Midnight Gang together. There is some history between you two although this is your first time facing one another. Jamilia's been able to successfully keep her gold since December. She is much more assertive and has been flying solo for sometime now. And this will also be your first time completely alone in the EBWF without anyone at your side. How do you think you will fare?"

Daffney: "Let us join in grief, rejoice and despair. And honor the unfortunate dead."

Without giving any explanation for her statement, Daffney stood from her chair and stepped over to the dresser where the stuffed animals were kept. She plucked a feline from the collection and held it close to her chest.

Daffney: "Death. Death to the enemies of the people of the Republic. Hoorah. Justice is served. Bring forth the evil one."

She slipped mask onto the stuffed animal, one that closely resembled Jamilia Craft's. She carried to a corner of her room where a fully functional guillotine was located. Not something a normal person had in their home but for someone like her it wasn't at all out of the question.

Daffney: "You are evil incarnate. How do you plead?"

Daffney held the masked animal up to her face. From the corner of her mouth, she spoke, in a much higher tone. "Guilty!", she mimed

Daffney: "Guilty. You heard it by her own admission. The sentence is death."

Daffney placed the stuffed things head through the wooden hole in the center and onto the chopping block. After giving the rope a tug, the sharp blade fell at an alarming speed. The head of the stuffed feline was cleanly sliced off and it rolled over towards Todd. It stopped at his feet as the neck cavity leaked a gray, powdery substance.

Todd Grisham: "..Uh..that's..very..you..illustrated your point. Best of luck!"

Clearly more than a little freaked out by what he had seen, Todd gave a quick and cordial wave before exiting Daffney's home. The challenger continued her thousand mile stare without any shred of emotion upon her ghoulish features.
