Within The Dark

Post by David »

The scene showed Todd Grisham standing in front of the camera, seemingly alone. His facial expression showed clear signs of fear, bearing a nervous behavior. He seemed... On edge as the cameraman gave him indication to begin speaking, but he seemed oblivious to it, as he looked around occasionally wiping his forehead with a handkerchief, finally realizing he had to do the segment, he brought the microphone up and cleared his throat.

Todd Grisham:
Ladies and Gentleman, I'm Todd Grisham, and I'm standing backstage with a man who, without appearing in person on the show, has puzzled the EBWF fan-base. I have none other than “The Ascension” Conor O'Brian!

The camera pans out to reveal Conor was crouching beside Todd Grisham. He slowly looked up at Todd, who took a few steps back. O'Brian got to a vertical base, and his stature and body structure was intimidating, and he knew it. O'Brian growled at Grisham, and stole the microphone.

Conor O'Brian:
Begone.

As instructed, Todd Grisham fled from scene, as the light change was quick. The bright blue and green lights that illuminated the background were replaced by utter darkness, and the monitors showed the iconic blue eye staring into the camera. "The Ascension" stared into the camera, amidst his natural habitat, the darkness.

Conor O'Brian:
Dusk has broken into EBWF, and soon it will be night. However, the dark is already here. It's within the souls of those who fight for their salary every week for EBWF, and within the souls of those who pay to see it. Unlike what one may believe, there is no darkness within my soul. No... For how can there be darkness within something that does not exist. But enough about me, let's discuss EBWF. Once upon a time, many years ago, EBWF lived in a fantasy world of lighthearted banter and harmless humor. No more. Chaos, destruction and darkness has seeped into this company and until I've gained all I want, it will remain here.

A smile is visible on O'Brian as the dark wrestler continues his cryptic speech with a haunting chuckle that could mean just about anything. But coming from "The Ascension", it's probably something wicked and distorted.

Conor O'Brian:
That's right, I'm not here to ruin EBWF, why would I ruin a realm I'm aiming to conquer? In fact, I want to thank EBWF for booking me against... The Rock. This man is the embodiment of what I was talking about, his childish behavior and unrelenting mockery of his foes, even at his advanced age, has proven that this man's mere personality has soiled the world and corrupted society for far too long. This society who still believes in the "kindness of strangers" and "good values in one's soul" has to be shown the reality of the world. That this world is an unending pit of darkness and horror, in which the single purpose is to be the most dark and horrible.

The scene becomes intensely blue as the eyes of "The Ascension" now glow amidst these blue lights, as smoke fills the room.

Conor O'Brian:
For weeks now, you've heard my voice clamoring the arrival of "The Ascension" and announcing my rise. My entire Ascension could depend on this match, I win, and not only do I savor success, I get a message across and I claim my first victim in doing so.But don't worry, there'll be plenty more after I'm finished with making an example out of Rocky. Now, I'm sure my foe will try to fill your brains with idealistic nonsense he regurgitates every day since the 90's, but no matter how many repetitive catchphrases you try, the point will be proven, and the truth will be let out. The darkness will show everyone the truth, and open the eyes to the ones blind from the light!

Smoke has completely filled the room, and Conor O'Brian is now invisible to the viewer, as he chuckles once more.

Conor O'Brian:
Come Monday, on Warfare, Rocky will get a simple glimpse of the truth that lies in the dark... And I... WILL... RISE!

O'Brian allows his chuckle to become a manic laugh as the scene fades to black ending what was supposed to be an interview by Todd Grisham, on "The Ascension."
