My Destiny

Post by Kyle »

OOC: Here's my RP for the Path to Glory Invitational. Hope you all enjoy. I'll have my other RP up before the deadline.

For 12 months Ted DiBiase was without championship gold. 2012 was arguably his greatest year in EBWF, with a record championship reign and many outstanding matches. 2013 hadn't been as successful for Ted DiBiase, having not been able to reach the same heights that he did in 2012. However he had the opportunity to end 2013 on a positive note and leave with championship gold. At Christmas Eve of Destruction he would enter the Path to Glory Invitational, with the winner leaving Indianapolis with the Path to Glory Championship and with that an opportunity to cash it in for a World Championship match. Nobody had officially put their name into the mix for the Path to Glory Championship, but Ted was a definite contender for it. He had held it longer than anyone, he had taken out the man that ended his reign and took everything that he owned. He had more money, more style, more talent and more drive than anyone else stepping into that match. The Path to Glory wasn't just a guaranteed shot at the World Championship, it was the title that he owned in 2012. He defeated World Champions, including the current World Champion during his reign. Indianapolis was where he would get back to form, and where he would make history.

Ted DiBiase was a wealthy man, there was no denying it. From what he was making in WWE and now in EBWF as well as the money he had received from his father, he had more money than many people could imagine. With that money, he could travel in style. He arrived into Indianapolis in his private jet, and quickly entered his limousine which took him to the Bankers Life Fieldhouse, where Christmas Eve of Destruction would be taking place. He was escorted by a crew member to his locker room where his bags were dropped off by the driver. Ted had a sit down interview scheduled with Jim Ross, a legend and arguably one of the greatest announcers in history. It was more than a simple interview with someone like Matt Striker. Ted entered a small room that was out of the way of the commotion going on backstage with every frantically preparing for the event. When he entered the room he found Jim Ross sitting down on a seat with a camera set up and a camera man operating it. Jim Ross stood up and shook hands with Ted before they both sat down in their seats and the interview officially began.

Jim Ross: I'd like to thank you for taking the time to sit down with me before Christmas Eve of Destruction. Now tonight you're not booked in any matches, but you do have the opportunity to enter the Path to Glory Invitational. A Hardcore match where anyone can enter and the winner will leave with the Path to Glory Championship. First and foremost I should ask, will you be entering the Path to Glory Invitational?

Ted Jr: I think it's pretty obvious since I've appeared here instead of staying at home in Tampa.

Jim Ross: At this moment, it is unknown how many people will be involved in the match and who may be involved. How does this effect preparation for a match like this?

Ted Jr: It's a Hardcore match that means there will be weapons, there will be chaos and there will be some sore bodies at the end of it all. It doesn't matter to me if I'm facing one person or 10 people. I have made it known to a lot of people that I want the Path to Glory Championship back around my waist. If that means that I have to go through the whole roster, I'll do that.

Jim Ross: A recent change to the Path to Glory Championship has been implemented by Chris Jericho allowing the holder to vacate the championship in order to receive a World Championship match whenever they choose. If you became Path to Glory Champion tonight, when would you challenge for the World Championship?

Ted Jr: It's a difficult situation, because as champion you have to defend your championship against all opponents. If you plan on waiting for the best time to face the World Championship, you may lose your title in a match before getting the opportunity to cash it in. Having held the championship for 11 months and defeating Randy Orton, who is the current World Champion now, I'd have no hesitations cashing it in straight away. But you never know, I may decide I want to break my own record and hold the title for a full year before cashing in.

Jim Ross: It was at Christmas Eve of Destruction last year when your record reign ended when your were defeated by Alberto Del Rio, and last month at Survivor Series you defeated Alberto Del Rio and cast him out of EBWF. Do you think you've gained your revenge on him now?

Ted Jr: When I lost last year, I never received a rematch that I was guaranteed. I never got the respect that I deserved for being the longest reigning champion of all time. I was still treated like a failure here. They all said I was still living off of my father’s accomplishments even though I've already done more in my 4 years here than he did in his career. I became a World Champion. I broke records. I defeated the best EBWF had to offer and I still get nothing. I still get the cold shoulder from everyone here.

Jim Ross: Since you lost your Path to Glory Championship there has been a large emergence of new talent. What do you think it takes to remain at the top with all of this new young talent entering EBWF?

Ted Jr: To stay in the spotlight I do what has to be done. I kissed babies, took photos with fans all of that because it was what kept me in the spotlight. Now I hurt people. Now I work with Paul Heyman as my associate. I do what needs to be done. Being Champion is what keeps me in the spotlight and winning the World Championship will permanently keep me there.

Jim Ross: You talked about your relationship with Paul Heyman. Why did you decide to partner with him?

Ted Jr: You look at who he has managed over the years. All of them have been successful. He takes the best of the best and makes them better. He's a smart man. That's why I partnered with him.

Jim Ross: At Survivor Series, Paul Heyman was not with you. Is there any strain at all between you and Paul?

Ted Jr: The decision to not have Paul at ringside for my match at Survivor Series was my choice. I needed to go out there and beat Alberto Del Rio without any distractions. When my job and money are on the line, I don't need Heyman out there. There's no strain on our relationship. He does more for me behind the scenes than out in front of the cameras.

Jim Ross: Tonight in the main event, Randy Orton will defend his World Championship against Trent? who is cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. If you won the Path to Glory Championship, who would you prefer to face for the World Championship.

Ted Jr: Randy Orton. Simply because he's the poster boy for EBWF, along with John Cena. He's the one that knows management and gets everything handed to him on a platter. He wrestles when he wants, seemingly never if he doesn't have the World Championship. And even when he has the World Championship he might wrestle one a month. When I was World Champion I wrestled more in my short reign than he did in his 274 day reign. I didn't get days off because I was a champion. I wrestled on every show and every live event. I wasn't the "great" Randy Orton, who can only wrestle once a month. If I defeated Randy Orton for the World Championship it would mean a hell of a lot more than if I defeated Trent?. I've defeated Orton before, and he's defeated me. But this goes back to when I first entered EBWF. Orton and Edge wouldn't let me close the show as World Champion because they had a problem with me. So they bitched and moaned until they got their way. 4 years later, not a lot has changed. When I beat Orton again, I'll make him and Edge and anyone who doubted me realise that I'm every bit as good as I say I am.

Jim Ross: AJ Styles was Path to Glory Champion when the new rule was implemented. He was unsuccessful in winning the World Champion, why do you think you'll be more successful than AJ?

Ted Jr: Because he didn't care about the Path to Glory Championship. It was just an extra thing he had to carry around with him. I made that belt mine and when I let go of it again, I'm trading it in for the World Championship. There will be no doubt in my mind when I cash it in. I won't leave empty handed and I'll hold the World Championship again.

Jim Ross: We've got just enough time for your final remarks regarding tonight’s Path to Glory Invitational. Any words for the other competitors set to enter the match tonight?

Ted Jr: That Path to Glory Championship is mine. I held it for 330 days and defeated former World Champion after former World Champion. I defeated EBWF legends and stopped anything in my path. Anything goes tonight and if it's 10 people against me I'll make sure that I'm the only one left standing when that bell rings. To Orton and Trent?: Beat the living hell out of each other tonight. Do everything in your power to leave with the World Championship. Cherish that belt and hold it close to you, because you won't be holding it for very long. I've held it once before and I'm hungry for it again. I might not be your worst nightmare, but I will be soon. I'll hunt you down and take that belt from you one way or another. When the time comes that I hand in my Path to Glory Championship, your World Championship reign will end.
