The camera faded into Randy Orton lacing up his wrestling boots in the locker room of the Target Center. Randy looked up and peered into the lens.
Randy Orton: The Royal Rumble is more than the chance at a main event payday. It's more than an opportunity to become the EBWF World Champion on the largest stage in wrestling today. The Royal Rumble is a chance to become immortalized. Eleven men have won the Royal Rumble before this year. That's an exclusive club, one that I intend on joining very soon. My match on Warfare is the chance to make it just that much easier to do.
Randy's textbook sneer was on full display.
Randy Orton: Wounded. Fallen. Not a threat. Lots of words are being used to describe me after Christmas Eve of Destruction. People think that because I lost to Trent Barretta, that I'm suddenly a broken, beaten man. The Miz said that. The Miz, of all people. The guy that took mediocrity and made it an art form said that me losing to Trent question mark made me lose my steam.
Randy smirked.
Randy Orton: Well, for starters, I'd like to see any one of you go into the Cage of Death, full of light tubes, broken glass, exploding turnbuckles, barbed wire, and still come out looking this good. But that's neither here nor there. Guys like ... um...
Randy snapped his fingers a couple times. He looked at the camera for a moment, but in a sudden moment of inspiration, he pointed at the camera, a look of sudden satisfaction on his features.
Randy Orton: Lex Luger. Nah, that ain't it. Lex Luthor.
He cursed under his breath.
Randy Orton: It's guys like Leo... Kruger... that have been in this business for what? A year? Two years? Stalking divas and securing his place as one of the most dominant Breakout champions in in the EBWF today that irritate me most. I'm a two time EBWF World Champion. I'm holding onto the EBWF tag team championship because there's not a guy in the back that has the talent or the social skills to pick up a partner and beat Rated RKO. So if you want to talk about what you're going to do to this wounded snake, you had best talk about how I did more in my first two years in this company than you'll ever amount to in your career.
He stiffly pulled up on his boot laces, tightening them up.
Randy Orton: And I could go on all day about the Miz. Have you ever beaten me? Have you ever pinned my shoulders to the mat, even once? Even by a roll-up? What makes you think that even at the coveted number 30 spot, that you have a chance of going to Wrestlemania and being in the main event? Let's say by some miracle that you don't trip on your own shoelaces and manage to survive and become the number one contender. You think that suddenly makes you better? To take a page from one of my favorite new additions to the EBWF roster, I'm afraid I've got some bad news, Miz. They could put you in the main event of Wrestlemania, up against Wes Ikeda, with the second coming of Jesus Christ as the special guest referee. The crowd would still be sitting on their hands. There was a time in 2012 when I looked at you and saw a hungry up and comer who was a serious contender to look out for. That seems like an eternity ago. So don't try to confuse these people, and make it sound like I've lost my edge, no pun intended. Trent dug down deep and got the win fair and square. I'm man enough to admit that. Now my focus is going to be winning the Royal Rumble, and main eventing Wrestlemania in a match that people will actually buy tickets for. But at least you have the baby oil jokes. Because they haven't gotten old.
He rolled his eyes, then finished the knot in his other boot, and stood up.
Randy Orton: You don't have to use words like wounded and not a threat in order to describe me. They're lies. There's plenty of accurate words to use. Arrogant. Self-absorbed. Selfish. Egotistical. Check, check, check, and check. You can also add violent, disturbed, destructive, and vicious to that list. Here's the three most important ones to remember, though.
His icy stare intensified.
Randy Orton: Royal. Rumble. Winner.
Randy turned and walked off the camera as the scene went to black.
Use your words.
