I Don't Need A Partner

Ted DiBiase lost in Scotland to the Miz. He didn't get that chance to face Cena again. He was in the O2 Arena backstage, not scheduled to appear but after the recent announcement of the Strange Bedfellows Tag Team Invitational match, Ted had been thinking. He could have the opportunity to become a champion again, the only problem being that he had to have a partner to do it. Ted had been reasonably successful in Tag Teams, becoming champion on three occasions. While he was walking backstage in the O2 Arena, Ted was approached by Michael Cole and a camera man.

Michael Cole: Ted, do you mind if I get a couple of words from you?

Ted didn't really want an interview, especially not from Michael Cole.

Ted Jr: Fine.

Ted sighed while Cole smiled proudly.

Michael Cole: You were unsuccessful last week in becoming number one contender to the Path to Glory Championship, what are your thoughts on that?

Ted Jr: I've held that title for a year. Miz won last week, there's nothing more to say.

Michael Cole: Tonight is the Strange Bedfellows Tag Team Invitational to determine a number one contender for the Tag Team Championships held by Rated RKO. Will you be entering tonight?

Ted Jr: "Held" is used very loosely when we talk about the Tag Team Championships. You've got Edge who has wrestled twice in the last year and lost the damn championship and Orton who wrestles a little bit more but he's still arrogant enough to believe that he doesn't even have to defend his championship. I don't need a partner to defeat them. All I know is the partner that I'm stuck with will bring me down just like every partner before me. Ezekiel Jackson, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes were never good partners. I was the one that did the hard work, I was the one busting my ass to actually remain a successful team.

Michael Cole: So it's confirmed that you will be appearing in the match later tonight?

Ted Jr: Yes Cole, you idiot. To win I have to eliminate everyone in the match until there is just me and one other person left. It doesn't bother me if there are 5 people in the match or 15. It's going to be time to release some anger tonight. I'm going to pin and submit everyone.

Michael Cole: Who would you like to be your partner if you could choose someone on the roster?

Ted Jr: I've had enough partners to know that eventually they just become dead weight. So it doesn't matter to me if it's Zack Ryder, Daniel Bryan or even CM Punk. Whoever it is, they'll be getting a free ride to the Tag Team Championships.

Michael Cole: I don't think you should be underestimating Rated RKO, they have been quite formidable.

Ted Jr: Can you remember the last time they actually defended their titles? They don't care about the titles at all. Edge should just retire instead of doing these one off matches that mean nothing. The Edge that won the Royal Rumble and World Championship is gone, he's a shell of himself. The Edge now thinks getting in the ring is a chore. He hasn't done anything memorable for 3 years. Orton is slowly turning into that as well. His last World Title run was the only worthwhile thing he's done since 2010. So I will be taking them lightly, they aren't anywhere near the level that they once were. They're tame, domesticated has beens. So whoever my partner is, they better not get in my way, because I'll be defeating Rated RKO by myself and winning the Tag Team Championships.
