Triple Threat

Post by Raza »

Sami Zayn finally made his in-ring EBWF debut on Monday; where his first task was to defeat The Animal; Batista. Needless to say it was never going to be easy but based on what we saw in the build up to that match, Zayn was determined to make an impact and even took it to a more personal level with Batista. Coming off a loss to The Animal; Sami Zayn must prepare himself for a triple threat match with R-Truth, and The Undertaker.

Sami Zayn is in his apartment just days after his los to Dave Batista in his debut match, obviously tired and angry about the events which took place when he came so close. Nevertheless it is time to move on. Sami walks over to his kitchen area and opens his partially empty fridge, looking over the empty shelves before taking out the milk and drinking it from the gallon itself. He picks up the TV remote and turns it on, realising that Monday’s episode of Warfare is on. He sits down and watches with interest as his music hits on the TV and sits up a little.

Sami Zayn: Okay, time to see what went wrong.

He watches throughout the match and the close calls, before shaking his head in disagreement as he can hear the bell declaring Batista the winner.

Sami Zayn: A spear, I walked into a spear like an amateur, that’s not good enough.

His phone starts to ring and he starts to look around the messy area, until he finally finds it under a pile of papers on the kitchen counter in a rush, before the call ends.

Phone Call: Hello, Is this Mr. Sami Zayn?

Sami Zayn: Speaking.

Phone Call: I’m just calling to remind you that your radio interview is due to begin in 45 minutes and we’re worried you didn’t answer any of our previous phone calls, can you confirm that you’ll be here in time?

Sami Zayn: Uh…yeah sure, don’t worry I will definitely be there perhaps in the next half hour or so, it’s just been a hectic couple of days moving in and stuff, I’ll talk to you soon.

Sami Zayn puts down his phone and quickly jumps over his couch to run into his bedroom and begin to get changed, obviously forgetting about his scheduled interview on the radio. Within ten minutes he is making sure he was his wallet, his phone and his keys before closing the door to his apartment on his way out to his interview.

Radio Host: Welcome back to The Main Event radio where we have been talking about the past episode of Warfare and we’re now looking at the opening match of the night, the exciting match where our guest today, Mr. Zayn himself competed against The Animal Batista in a losing effort, but a great match nonetheless and we are pleased to have you in the studio Sami.

Sami Zayn: It is a pleasure to be here, thank you for having me today.

Radio Host: No problem, what can you tell us about your match earlier in the week; especially after your strong words about your opponent before the match.

Sami Zayn: Ha…yeah…look I mean this is what the wrestling industry is really about at the end of the day, the business revolves around trash talking and getting the audience involved and engaged in everything so all eyes are on you, inside that ring with over ten thousand fans staring and cheering and the reason they do that is because you promote it, whether you do it with your mouth like I and Dave did or whether it’s on social media; I think it worked for sure, people tuned in, they talked about it and we did our job, well Dave did his job I lost as you know but it was a fantastic experience nonetheless.

Radio Host: It was a great match, there’s no denying that; you had some strong words for him, was that just…a spur of the moment thing or was it something you truly believe in?

Sami Zayn: Look I’m not one to say one thing and believe another, as I said I don’t know him personally but I know him enough professionally to create my own image in my mind and what I think of him, I am not a bad person, I tell the truth, I speak the truth and I go out there and compete every week with nothing but winning on my mind, I lost my debut match in the BWF, is it disappointing? Of course, nobody likes losing especially in their first match and now it is up to myself I guess, to come back stronger and faster to overcome whoever my next opponent is.

Radio Host: Well everyone here is still a massive fan, one loss isn’t going to change that for sure, but what drove you to sign for EBWF, knowing full and well you now have more competition than ever to get to the top, where I presume you want to be?

Sami Zayn: Everyone wants to be the number one star, and who wants to be the number one star in a company without competition? It doesn’t prove anything, I had countless offers whether it was to go back on the independent scene and do what I do best or it was to sign the deal which was offered to me by Wes and I think at the end of the day, it was a straightforward decision for me. This might be the best company on the wrestling circuit which means the money is incredible, but I didn’t sign for money, I signed for what I received last week, a match against someone of Dave’s status, someone who has in fact achieved so much is what it is all about. I don’t want to be the number one guy in a business where there is no competition, I want to be the best here, I want to win championships, compete against the best current stars, the legends, and I feel I am in the right place right now for me to go ahead and advance my own career. I hope the company sees that, they see my passion for this, I live and breathe it, hopefully they see my talent and I do hope they give me another match at Warfare next week to show that.

Radio Host: Well as a matter of fact it sounds like you haven’t heard just yet, on the official website if you look here…you are in fact in action on the next episode of Warfare and your opponents are R-Truth AND The Undertaker in a triple threat match! What are your thoughts on this?

Sami Zayn: Well there you go, here’s an exclusive for your show huh? Ha ha, look I don’t know either man a lot, I know they’re both legends in the business and if you’re classed a legend it probably means you’ve done a lot career and that your career is winding down, so I guess this match is probably set up for a future star like me to put an end to one illustrious career and one which had potential until he lost his mind and started talking to an imaginary friend which probably cost him the chance of having even a slightly successful career, so my thoughts? My thoughts are that I expect to win this, this isn’t the 90’s, I am not a nine year old who is going to get scared off by The Undertaker and is antics, I am here to win, I am here to defeat both men and I will show that this time at Warfare.

Radio Host: As fans this is something we want to see, something to report on, create rumours and predictions and things like that – don’t you have respect for these guys? Is there a problem or anything or is it just to throw wood into the fire and create something out of nothing?

Sami Zayn: Again as I said earlier in the interview, I don’t have a problem with anyone in the business, I have no friends but everyone is my enemy, everyone standing inside that ring opposite me is my enemy. I want gold, the only to get gold is by defeating everyone standing in front of me, now whether that be R-Truth or The Undertaker; one Helluva Kick to the both of them and I hope one comes to his senses and the other falls back into his casket and decides never to come out again. His time is over.

Obviously frustrated and passionate during the interview, Sami Zayn takes off his head set to conclude the interview before putting his head in his hands and pumping himself up. He shakes the hands of everyone before walking out after signing an autograph or two.

The EBWF cameras are in the backstage area as the triple threat match between R-Truth, Sami Zayn and The Undertaker edges closer. The cameras see Sami Zayn looking up at a screen, he is in his wrestling gear and is watching the interview between The Undertaker and Todd Grisham; just after watching what R-Truth had to say. He is smiling and warming up with some arm rotations and jumping on the spot, trying to get his blood flowing and adrenaline pumping for his match. Renee Young approaches him.

Renee Young: Ladies and gentlemen my guest at this time, Sami Zayn.

Sami Zayn: Hi Renee, how’re you doing today?

Renee Young: I am very well thank you Sami, now Sami it is almost time for your big triple threat match against R-Truth and The Undertaker, how are you feeling at this time?

Sami Zayn: Excited as always, going through the game plan in my head and how I plan on winning this match. I think the fact that they’re past it, they have aged and toned their manoeuvres down a little, that puts me in the driving seat already so it should be a good match if you’re a Sami Zayn fan.

Renee Young: Now I just noticed you were watching Todd Grisham’s exclusive interview with The Undertaker; what can you tell us about that?

Sami Zayn: Honestly? The only thing I can say that even though the teenager inside me is doing somersaults at the fact that I get to step inside the ring with The Undertaker…I’m upset. I love The Deadman and everything he has done but to see him how he is, it’s difficult as a fan and as a competitor who has been supportive for a long time, it’s a shame I have to be the one along with R-Truth…to put that final nail in his coffin and end this era. It was bound to happen one day, on one side I am privileged I have the chance to do so, on the other hand it won’t be easy as a fan trying to end his era of dominance.

Renee Young: Now he also mentioned that he is, what he called, your Mount Everest; do you think that’s true?

Sami Zayn: There’s no doubt he has achieved a lot, both men for that matter and I guess when you think about it, he is right…I heard what he said and I think I do need him, I need him inside that ring because when the bell rings and people wake up in the next few weeks they’ll realise…Sami Zayn actually defeated The Undertaker, the man with the incredible streak, the countless championships, the incredible matches. But he is wrong too, he doesn’t have the strength or the speed like he once did, to finish off I guess I won’t have the biggest smile on my face when I kick him back in his casket and pin either man, it’s just business at the end of the day and somebody has to do it, tonight I am the man that’s been chosen…

Sami Zayn walks away from Renee Young as she waits for the cameras to fade out. Strong words from Sami Zayn as he gets ready to take on R-Truth, and reluctantly; The Undertaker.
