For the Win

Post by Ashlee »

She had wanted to crawl into a hole and die. That’s what the last two weeks had felt like for her. Another break up. Another high profile breakup. She had been embarrassed, again. Granted, it wasn’t as bad as with AJ Styles. She hadn’t been made a complete fool of, but she had trusted someone. She had opened her heart, and yet again, found it stomped on. It felt like a slap in her face, to have been lied to so openly. To have been cut off so swiftly. But then something happened.

Like a gift the card for Warfare in Miami had been FedExed to her, and there it was. Her name. In the main event. On Television. She couldn’t remember the last match she’d had on television. It was probably sometime during the Queen of the Ring tournament. She’d lost that tournament just one step away from the finals, to Summer Rae. But now here was a new opportunity. Not only was Trish in the main event, this was a chance to take on Sasha Banks for the Women’s Championship. All Trish had to do was beat Velvet Sky and Torrie Wilson in a triple threat match.

Over the past couple of weeks she hadn’t felt capable of anything, but seeing her name there in print, it was as if that had opened up a whole new world of possibilities for her. She didn’t need a man to define her. She had learned that long ago, after her divorce from Shane. All she needed in life was the love of her family, her daughter and the status she carried in her career. No one could ever take that away from her.

The weather in Miami was perfect, just a few clouds to block out the heat of the sun. Trish was excited to be there, and to prove it, she walked out into the parking garage area behind the American Airlines Arena and to the barricade area where fans were waiting to catch a glimpse of the EBWF Superstars. The fans standing around grew excited as she approached them, calling her name as she started grabbing things and began to sign them. She made small talk, and took selfies with people who were being adoring. This had been just the thing she needed. A reminder of who she was, one of the most decorated, talented and recognizable figures in female wrestling. One lucky fan had come prepared to meet her, as was obvious by the 8X10 of her own likeness that she was currently scribbling her autograph on. That was when she heard it.

Voice: Sasha is coming up on your record isn’t she?

Trish Stratus: I’m sorry?

It hadn’t registered what he meant by that, and her eyes moved upward to look at him.

Man: You’re record. Sasha’s only got a couple of months before she beats it.

Was that so? She had let time get away from her, but she supposed that was correct.

Trish Stratus: It’s a good thing that I’m going to become the number one contender tonight, then, isn’t it?

Man: I don’t know she seems to be the new flavor of the month.

Trish Stratus: You know though, nothing beats the original.

Man: I know that’s right.

Trish gave a pretty smile, signed something for him, and then took a look at her Cartier watch.

Trish Stratus: Thanks so much guys! I have to get back to film some videos! Have a great time tonight. Thanks for coming!

She tried to give a few more autographs as the fans grew a little more rabid as she started to walk away. Finally, she left the barricade and started back into the arena. When she entered the arena she wasn’t surprised to find Michael Cole waiting for her.

Michael Cole: Trish, can we have a few words with you about your main event match tonight?

She realized she was already being filmed, and she looked toward the camera, then back at Cole.

Trish Stratus: Ah, an ambush, because you were afraid I’d say no? It’s fantastic that women are getting the opportunity to main event the show. That should be a regular thing. Torrie Wilson and Velvet Sky are excellent opponents, but I think the whole world knows it’s up to me to defeat Sasha Banks. Excuse me, Michael. I’m going to go prepare to win and earn that opportunity, tonight.

Trish flipped her hair behind her shoulder and walked off, leaving Michael Cole to summarize their conversation as the camera faded to black.

Sorry so short, time got away from me.
As you all know, Trish was previously dating Dolph Ziggler, but since Dolph has a new handler, I just generically talked about her relationship. Thanks for reading!
