Repeating History

Post by Kyle »

Ted DiBiase was fighting for the now vacant Path to Glory Championship that was vacated by The Miz who cashed in the championship for a shot against the World Heavyweight Champion, Sami Zayn. Destiny was being held in Tampa, Florida so Ted was able to spend some time at home, resting and relaxing after a long time on the road. Being able to recharge himself was the best thing for Ted, it made him fresh and ready to go for the Pay Per View. A championship match would always be difficult, and he would be facing two former World Champions along with a previous Path to Glory Champion.

Ted grabbed his iPhone a focused it on himself as he walked around his home. He started recording and was about to give the world a look at how a DiBiase lives.

Ted Jr: Who needs a camera man and a loser like Michael Cole or Todd Grisham when I can do it all myself. This Sunday the Vertex has the chance to wrap up two of the top championships in EBWF. My main man, The Miz is about to wipe the floor with Sami Zayn but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. That's the main event, the end of the show so before that you'll see me, Ted "I'm the greatest of all time" DiBiase taking on CM Punk, Justin Gabriel and Randy Orton. All three of those men have something in common. I've kicked their ass. I don't need to remind everyone of how often I've beaten CM Punk, but I'll do it anyway. I've beaten Punk for that World Championship and I ended his reign as Path to Glory Championship. I've fought him so many times there's nothing he can throw at me that I won't already know. I've choked the life out of Justin Gabriel, didn't even give him the opportunity to tap out. I can do that at any time tonight and that will end the match. But let’s not forget Randy Orton, I'm honestly surprised that he's gracing us with his presence. It must be hard only wrestling twice a year, and in a championship match that you don't even deserve. But I guess that's the perks of screwing the boss’s sister.

Ted mockingly gasped.

Ted Jr: Oops, should I have said that? I mean does anybody not already know. Here's another thing that everybody should know. I've beaten Orton before. I've kicked his ass across the ring and it was for the Path to Glory Championship. That was after he refused to go on before I won the World Championship. I wasn't good enough for the World Title according to Randy. I didn't forget and I still remember to this day. So I'll beat you again as well and we'll see just how good I really am. Let’s remember the last time you were in the ring. Oh that's right, it was when Kyle O'Reilly, Kevin Owens, and Finn Balor took out you and your partner Edge. Do you remember that Randy? When a group of kids younger, stronger, faster, and hungrier took you out. I orchestrated that. I led the grand entrance of the Vertex and I'm the one that's going to lead them alongside The Miz to the top of this company. I've held that title for over 420 days, and after tonight I plan on holding it for a lot longer.

Ted stopped the recording at posted the video onto the EBWF Facebook page.

Destiny was just moments away and Ted was scheduled to have his prematch interview with Renee Young, but before that he was in his locker room preparing for his match tonight. He was in his ring gear and had a pair of Beats headphones on his head, listening to music and drowning all other sounds out. It was a good way for him to get psyched up, being cut off from everything so he could remember his plan. A fatal four way match would be chaotic, with the situation changing constantly. Being in the ring with the former World Champions, he knew that one small mistake could cost him. It was a game of inches and seconds. Ted needed to be on the ball, and ready for anything that could potentially happen. A backstage crew member opened the door to his locker room and signalled to Ted that it was time for his interview. So Ted left his locker room and soon found Renee Young standing by at the interview set. Ted walked onto the set as Renee Young went live.

Renee Young: With me at this time is one of the four wrestlers battling for the Path to Glory Championship, Ted DiBiase. Welcome Ted.

Ted Jr: Always good to be here.

Renee Young: Tonight you're going up against, not one, not two, but three wrestlers. How different is wrestling three other opponents compared to just one in terms of your preparation?

Ted Jr: It's completely different, with three other wrestlers in that ring I have to have eyes in the back of my head and be aware of what all of them are doing because I can lose the match without being pinned or submitting. I also have to know each of their styles and work out how to combat each one individually.

Renee Young: You mentioned styles, all three of your opponents seem to have differing styles which should make for an interesting matchup.

Ted Jr: Justin Gabriel is a high flyer, he does a lot of flips and high risk stuff. CM Punk is more submission based and can get a tap out in seconds, while Randy Orton can lay anyone out with an RKO out of nowhere. Anything can happen tonight and one small mistake is going to make the difference between winning and losing.

Renee Young: You share history with all of your opponents tonight, probably your biggest rival would be CM Punk who said you're the biggest CM Punk wannabe in history and Miz's lackey.

Ted Jr: You want to talk about history, look back to the Royal Rumble in 2012, The Miz became World Championship and I started my record setting Path to Glory Championship reign, history looks like its set to repeat itself. I saw that interview with Corey Graves, did you see the part where he failed to mention that I dethroned him. I took away the title that was MADE FOR HIM. The title that everyone called CM Punk's title. I took it from him and carved a legacy greater than his. Has he come close to beating the record held by me? No. Was he as influential to that title as I was? No. But you can bet that every time he hears the name Path to Glory Championship he thinks of my 330 day reign.

Renee Young: Who do you think is your biggest challenge tonight?

Ted Jr: I've proven that I can beat all of them any time that I want to. Beating all of them at once, that's going to be the challenge. But I'll do it. I'll become the Path to Glory Champion again and I'm going to go on to become World Champion for a second time.

Renee Young: Does that mean you'll cash it in on The Miz, should you both win tonight?

Ted Jr: I'll cash it in on whoever the World Champion is. It doesn't matter if he's my friend or not. In the end, if I do cash it in on The Miz the title will still belong to the Vertex.

Renee Young: Well thank you and good luck in your match tonight.

Ted nodded and left the interview set. Taking on three wrestlers would be a challenge, but becoming Path to Glory Champion was a reward worth the challenge.
