Tale of The Tape

Post by Reborn Matt Sydal »

Three veterans, traveled the world earning recognition as the top technicians of their craft.
On May 7th 2000 on his 16th birthday Kevin Owens became pro. He has been known by nicknames The Anti-Christ of Pro Wrestling, Wrestling's Worst Nightmare, The Zoo Enthusiast, the Prize Fighter and K.O.

Kevin Owens stands at six foot tall and weighs in at 266 pounds but he moves in the year with an arsenal of over 95 moves. He hails from Marieville Quebec Canada and has continued the tradition of Canadian Wrestlers being VERY good in pro wrestling.

Kevin's entrance songs have been Unsettling Differences by Blue Nancy, Kill Steen Kill by Six Seconds of Magic and CFO's " Fight". He's been a 14 time world champion, 6 time tag team champion and is currently recognized at #10 out of 500 top wrestlers of the world. Kevin Owens is respected for his talents but he's very disrespectful himself but fans still love him, viewing as a witty great talker on top of his amazing skill between the ropes. Many times do those two mesh, Kevin Owens deliver trash talk and entertaining banter while kicking ass full throttle.

On October 20th 2000 at 17 years old Matt Sydal made pro debut. From 1993-1999 he was a popular backyard wrestler in another wrestling hotbed besides Canada in Saint Louis Missouri. He is still the first and only wrestler in Missouri to get his wrestling license under the age of 18. Standing around five foot eight to five foot nine Matt is the height of an average american male but in pro wrestling he is consider small. Matt weighs in between 165 to 195 pounds and has an arsenal of over 200 moves, he has cited Sabu, Rey Mysterio Jr, Tajiri, RVD, Jushin Thunder Liger, The Hart & Guerrero families, Dean Malenko, Ricky Steamboat, X Pac and Chris Jericho as inspirations and wrestlers such as Bret Hart, John Cena, Chris Jericho have given him much praise as a performer. Although ranked currently at 114 out of 500, Matt is known as respectful but also has struggled with being a humble guy in a world of egotists. Matt is a hippie and after spiritual journey in Peru with nature based ethogenic- psychedelics Matt has cured his overly humble side and is now as confident and superhuman as ever. Matt Sydal inside the ring is a 16 year veteran, he is what would come out if you put the wrestlers listed above into a machine to create a super soldier of junior heavyweight style wrestling, with educated feet, technically sound ground and fearless but never reckless aerial game, Sydal has impressed ever since he was just a 13 year old backyard wrestler. Matt is a 2 time world champion, 3 time tag team champion
but he has yet to win the big one in a top federation like EBWF.

Most impressive is his mastery of the Jushin Thunder Liger created moved known as the shooting star press but he is far from being a one trick pony as stated with 15 + years of experience, Sydal's moveset is made up of:
50 standing attacks. 20 of which are strikes,
9 ground attacks/opponent laying on back
3 ground attacks to opponent laying face down
11 pin variants
20 submissions
18 running strike attacks
13 running grapples
15 opponent rebound/running attacks
4 attacks to opponent against the ring ropes
19 turnbuckle attacks, 5 running attacks
42 aerial moves
7 signature moves
3 finishing moves
2 desperation moves
4 reversal attacks

Matt has been known as " Air Bourne", "Reborn" and even resembling a "Cocky Coverboy". His entrance songs have been Anyone By Sugar Ray, Dope Nose by Weezer, Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins, Clavvicle by Alkaline Trio, My Seventh Rib by The Shins, Axeman by Damian Wes, Lenny Charles and Sparky Buddha( 2008)
Born to Win by Mutiny Within, Born to SOS( by Mutiny Within/Collie Buddz) Boom by Jim Johnston and
Warrior Man by Dr. Dog

Thirdly and Finally we have Shinksuke Nakamura, currently ranked the 5th out of 500 wrestlers in the world, who made his debut at 22 years old on August 29th 2002. a 5 time world champion recognized for his brutal, flashy and solid ability, over 60 moves in his arsenal. He is also 3 and 1 in Mixed Martial Arts.
His nicknames also give you look into how he is viewed by others:

"Child of God"
"The Black Savior"
"Supernova"
"King of Strong Style"

Kevin Owens may have the most experience, Matt Sydal may have the most moves and Nakamura may have the best reputation but only one man will win the triple threat match. Matt Sydal has a background with 3 way matches, he won the Ted Peddy Invitational in 2005 after winning a triple threat against Arik Cannon and Kevin Owens.

Interesting, it's very dry but has the nugget of a good idea, that even though these are three incredibly different men, they are equally skilled and accomplished in their own rights. You've brought a real-sports analysis aspect to the match that could be fleshed out with some more commentary after the data. Best of luck!
