Respect me, you need me

Post by Dotty »

OOC - Hi all, good luck to everyone this week!
---------
The lights in the Banker’s Life Fieldhouse arena went dark and suddenly the familiar open guitar riff to Fight by CFO$ was heard over the sound system. The fans in attendance errupted into cheers as Kevin Owens came out dressed in his wrestling gear and a leather jacket. He strode to the ring purposefully and snatched a microphone from a nearby helper and smiled at the positive reaction he received.

Kevin Owens - Well it appears absence clearly does make the heart grow fonder.

The crowd continued to cheer as Owens held the microphone to his side as he soaked up the crowds adulation.

Kevin Owens - It’s not been that long since you last saw me, but hey I can’t blame any of you. You see when I left before, when I walked out of the EBWF offices the last thing I was told was ‘Kevin, we respect you, any time you want to come back you’re welcome.’ And you know what I planned on walking out of that door and never stepping foot in a wrestling ring again that day.

The fans booed at the mention of Kevin Owens not wrestling again. He continued to walk around the ring, shrugging his shoulders.

Kevin Owens - You see at home I’ve got myself a smoking hot wife and two beautiful kids. If I’m on the road I barely get to see them, and thats no life to live. But since leaving the EBWF every day has been the same. I’d see people in the street and they’d want photos with me, they’d tell me how great it will be to see me in the ring again and I’d politely laugh and tell them it won’t happen any time soon. But you know what, every conversation I had with you fans ended in the same way. As they walked away they shout one thing.

Owens paused for a moment, looking around the crowd. Then barely audible, he whispered into the mic.

Kevin Owens - Fight Owens fight.

Immediately the entire arena began chanting FIGHT OWENS FIGHT over and over. Owens looked around with a smirk on his face listening to the crowd. Leaving the chant to carry on for well over a minute before lifting the microphone to his lips again, causing the wall of sound to subside.

Kevin Owens - But thats not what I wanted. I didn’t want to fight any more. As a greater man than me once said, I’d lost my smile. And no number of different people telling me to fight again could change my mind.

The fans booed again, before starting up a fight Owens fight chant once more.

Kevin Owens - ‘We respect you Kevin and you’re welcome back whenever you want.’ Thats what I was told and when I sat down with my family to watch the Royal Rumble those words echoed through my mind. I’m sat watching a Diva’s Rumble. The most elite women in the world and what do I see. There’s some chick coming down to the ring smiling, high fiving and hugging everyone she can.

Realising who Owens was talking about the fans starting cheering for Bayley.

Kevin Owens - Bayley? Is that her name? Well I see her get thrown out the ring and she’s still all smiles, high fives and hugs. Whats up with that? I tell you what sister the last thing I want to do when I’ve lost a match is hug anyone! See back when I started out wrestling it took more than just a whole load of plastic surgery and some red hair dye to make it, it actual took talent! I’m looking at you Eva! Then you’ve got another bunch of idiots saying bye Felicia all the time. Firstly who is Felicia and secondly why on earth do you keep saying by to her? Thirdly……. oh wait this just in, no one actually cares you bunch of talentless hacks.

The crowd cheered at Owens rant as he pulled a mock annoyed face before turning to the camera.

Kevin Owens - And you can bank on that.

He paused once again for a monet, still pacing the ring, running his hand over his face.

Kevin Owens - Then I had to sit through a Chris Jericho match.

There was huge pop for a mention of the current Champion. But Owens just pulled an annoyed face.

Kevin Owens - The man of 1,004 holds. Who, interesting face here people, is so short if he was an inch shorted he’d officially be a midget. Billed as 6 feet tall, was you on stilts for that measurement Chris? He comes out strutting around for the past god knows how many years and he’s still winning titles. It makes my blood boil…

At this point the crowd boo Owens bashing of the fan favourite. Then he changes his face completely to a big smile while unzipping his leather jacket he was wearing to reveal a Fozzy t-shirt under it, immediately causing the crowds reaction to change once again.

Kevin Owens - Only kidding Chris, you know I love you, Canada for life bro! But the Miz, don’t get me started on him. Anyone who starts off by telling you how awesome he is every day tends to be an asshat in my experience. Still after enduring those matches we got to the Royal Rumble, 30 of the very best competing for a shot at the gold. You had AJ Styles there, still looking like he’s stolen his hair from a late 90’s boyband. Brock Lesnar, a knuckle dragging neanderthal who is so stupid he can’t even speak for himself. Mankind doing the same deranged nonsense he was doing when I was a kid and watching him. Tyler Breeze. Who on earth is Tyler Breeze, he comes down looking like cross between the kid in Home Alone and a wooly mammoth. Sheamus….

At the mention of his name the crowd started a ‘you look stupid chant.’

Kevin Owens - Right, thank you. Least I’m not the only one that thinks it. Plus a bunch of other no hopers who I can’t even remember, as we’d settled in out came Bret the Hitman Hart. The excellence of execution. The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. And the first thing my boy says when he see him is, ‘who's that Daddy? He looks like Grampa.’ One of the of the biggest pay per views you guys have and thats the best you can do? ‘We respect you Kevin and you’re welcome back whenever you want.’ Now you see the EBWF may respect me, but you know what the EBWF NEEDS me. All of you deserve better. The best 30 wrestlers this company can put in one event and no Kevin Owens. It’s criminal. I’m sat at home watching those guys go at it knowing that on their best day they are barely good enough to lace up my boots, let alone headline Wrestlemania. That’s why that night I put my kids to bed, tucked them in extra tight and gave them each a kiss before telling my wife I was getting back in the ring. To have been blessed with these gifts and letting them go to waste is pointless. So I’ll be stepping in the ring tonight in a triple threat match with Matt Sydal and Shinsuke Nakamura.

As Owens becomes more animated pacing around the ring the crowd wildly cheers at the prospect of seeing him wrestle tonight.

Kevin Owens - Quite frankly I didn’t care who I got put in a match with because you know what. That night after deciding to come back I found my smile again, because I realised it’s what I am on this earth to do. You see Matt, Shinsuke if you were quarter of the wrestler that I am you’d be twice the wrestlers that you are. And that still makes you an eighth of a very impressive wrestler, that’s not my opinion, that’s fractions. And once you step foot in the ring with me you’ll realise what a mistake you made by coming to the EBWF. Shinsuke you can sit around playing with Renee Young’s microphone and talk about respect. Well you’re not in Japan any more son, this is the USA and respect isn’t something you earn here, its something you grab with both hands and take. Sydal you might be one of the best high flying athletes to have graced the squared circle but you are also one of the most boring I’ve had the misfortune of watching. It doesn’t help that you face really, really annoys me as well. You know, it’s got that look about it that I just want to hit it! It’ll be an absolute pleasure to step back in this ring and show all of these fans here exactly what they’ve been missing. You see the fire has just been lit inside me again and you’ll be the first to realise what a mistake it is to go toe to toe with me now I’m ready to fight again.

With that Kevin threw the microphone down and began to orchestrate the crowd into another deafening fight Owens fight chant.

Good stuff, made all the more entertaining when read with KO's distinctively French-Canadian accent. Best of luck, I do not think this is the last time we'll be up against each other!
