EBWF.net Exclusive

The camera faded in on an EBWF logo backdrop, where Renee Young was smiling. She looked directly into the camera, gripping the microphone with both hands. The camera was zoomed in tight on her.

Renee Young: Hey there, EBWF Universe! I'm Renee Young and I'm backstage here at the BOK Center just a couple of hours away from Warfare going live! We're on the fast track to Wrestlemania, and with me tonight is a man who hopes to earn his spot on the "show of shows"! He's a former member of S.H.I.E.L.D., and he's up against "Reborn" Matt Sydal tonight on Warfare. His name is Roman Reigns!

The camera zoomed out and Roman Reigns stood next to Renee, towering over her in his black flak gear. He looked down at her with a smile.

Roman Reigns: Hey there, babygirl.

Renee Young: Roman, tonight you face Matt Sydal. Sydal has had a couple impressive victories in the EBWF, and he's looking to become a contender for the Breakout Championship. As you know, he started his professional wrestling career at the--

Roman put a hand up, a deadpan expression on his face.

Roman Reigns: Yeah, I know. He's been in the business for 16 years. That's his big claim to fame.

Renee Young: Well, it is an impressive feat for someone of his age.

Roman Reigns: Girl, I may not have been in the pro wrasslin' business for more than 6 years, but I've been in the ass kicking business for all my life. Matt Sydal can come out here and talk about how long he's been dazzling 200 people in a bingo hall, but none of it matters. What I do does not need years and years of experience. I go in there, and I--

Roman stopped and looked off to the left as another figure stepped in to the frame. A shorter, more stout figure.

Paul Heyman: Greetings, Mr. Reigns. I couldn't help but overhear that you have yourself a match against Matt Sydal tonight.

Roman narrowed his eyes at his uninvited guest. He nodded silently in affirmation.

Roman Reigns: It's gonna be a short match. What about it?

Paul Heyman: Well, let me just say this: I will be watching this match with great interest. My client will be watching this match with great interest. You see, I found your victory against PJ Black rather impressive, Roman. You're a warrior, much like my client. You're a powerhouse, much like my client. And, much like my client, I believe you're too good to be in bathroom break matches against people like Matt Sydal.

Roman folded his arms, an unimpressed look on his features as he listened to Heyman's words.

Paul Heyman: I believe that you and my client are both men who thrive on combat, and I believe the two of you could have a FANTASTIC match at...

Heyman gestured in a wide, dramatic arc with his hand.

Paul Heyman: WRESTLEMANIA.

He turned and face Roman, a cocky smirk on his face.

Paul Heyman: But, I could never offer such an opportunity if you lost to a "16 year veteran" of high school gymnasiums like Matt Sydal. So, I will be watching with a lot of interest tonight. Good luck out there, hot shot.

Heyman grinned and walked off, not saying another word. Roman watched him leave with a look of incredulousness. He pondered the words of Lesnar's advocate, and then turned to face Renee.

Roman Reigns: I guess things just got a lot more interesting. Matt Sydal can talk about how he's this seasoned, grizzled veteran of the squared circle. That's not going to mean a thing when I step into the ring, cock back my fist, and slam his teeth straight down his punk ass throat. And you... can believe that.

Roman gave her a subtle wink and left the screen, now filled with a much deeper purpose, and more determination than ever to make Matt Sydal eat his words.
