Kevin got in the ring and climbed a turnbuckle and bowed to the crowd as they cheered for him. He stepped down and was handed a mic. He was raising the microphone to his mouth as a huge “Welcome Back” chant erupted and he laughed to himself and raised the microphone once more.
“Thank you, thank you very much. It’s good to be back but I have some things to get off my chest if that’s okay?”
Kevin took a deep breath and sighed.
“You guys remember King of the Ring right? I’ll give you a run through just in case. Summer Rae and Sasha Banks retained the Women’s Tag Belts, Jimmy Havoc won the Breakout Championship, Sasha finished her night off by winning the Queen of the Ring, Alexa Bliss retained the Womens Championship, Sami Zayn won the King of the Ring…”
The crowd cheered loudly for the mention of Sami Zayn. Kevin smiled at the cheer and continued speaking.
“… and finally Chris Jericho retained his EBWF Championship at the expense of…me. Kevin Owens.”
The crowd booed at that statement as Kevin looked sort of glum.
“There is no need to boo Chris, at the end of the day the better man won. What really pisses me off is that I came out here and called myself a ‘Prizefighter’ and lost at the chance of gaining the biggest prize in the company, IN THE GOD DAMN WORLD!”
Kevin realised he was getting angry at the thought of losing the match and calmed himself down before he blew.
“After that match, I went to the back. I got a round of applause from everyone in the back and pats on the back from the higher ups. All of that didn’t matter to me, I lost. I wanted to just get outta there. I went in the locker room, didn’t even shower, grabbed my shit and left the building. I went home after that, I knew Owen was watching on the TV, I knew he would’ve been upset and that’s what kills me inside. I turned my phone off and just drove to the airport and got the first plane to Quebec. You ever been on a plane and just felt nothing but sadness, anger and just wanted to cuss everyone out?”
Kevin cracked his neck one more time and you could tell he was getting uncomfortable talking about his family
“I eventually got home and walked through that front door with a bouquet of flowers for my wife Karina and just held her. That’s all I wanted since I lost that match, I then went and seen Owen and as soon as I set eyes on my boy I cried. I won’t be afraid to admit that, any dad in this crowd knows you never want to disappoint your kids. I’m Owen’s idol for god sake and I let him down! I hugged him and just said how sorry I was. You wanna know what he said? ‘Don’t worry Dad, I still love you’ and it felt like an absolute dagger right in my heart. I had failed my son and he didn’t care, he knew I did everything I could.”
Kevin’s sadness soon turned to a smile.
“I requested some time off to stay in Maryville with my wife and kids and Wes Ikeda, being the nice guy that he is, don’t let the bad boy persona fool you. He truly is a good man, he understood what I needed and gave me the time off. I stayed and enjoyed the time with Owen and Elodie, I watched every Warfare with Owen that he wanted. Something happened whilst I was there though, myself, Owen and Karina sat down and watched Summerslam together and something happened that made me want to come back to all this. Firstly, he seems to like The Broken though so kudos to you guys but that’s not what I want to talk about. The main event happened and Sami Zayn lost to Chris Jericho and that same feeling fell over me, watching Owen get upset as Chris beat another one of Owen’s idols and realising that someone else had hurt my son and that’s where I draw the line. I told Owen that Uncle Sami will bounce back better than ever because it’s true. Sami Zayn is the best worker I’ve ever worked with and had the privilege to be involved in my life with, all these #BeatUpSamiZayn things I throw about is jokes and it’s only that. I love Sami Zayn like he was my brother.”
The crowd cheered and yet another mention of Sami Zayn.
“Oh and Sami…J'espère que vous me pardonnerez . Je suis désolé pour mes actions . Je t'aime mon frère.”
Kevin smiled directly into the camera and then faced the rampway.
“And now…IM HERE! I’m back! And my first opponent who will soon walk out that curtain will be Roman Reigns. Roman, I have the utmost respect for you and everything you’ve accomplished here and everywhere else you’ve been. Those little fans who say you can’t wrestle are wrong, You are absolutely a great wrestler and I look forward to facing you tonight.”
The crowd mildly boo as Kevin mentioned Roman.
“Sure, he irritates me too but he’s god damn talented. That’s where it ends though, once he steps foot in this ring there will be no niceness from me. I am no longer the Prizefighter I once claimed to be. I will do this for, and only because of, my family. I need to beat you tonight Roman to prove to Karina, to Elodie and to Owen that I deserve to be here. I need to climb this ladder once again and be able to beat Chris Jericho again. Roman, you do this for yourself and only think about yourself. The only thing I have left now is my family so you can back me into a corner all you god damn want but there’s one small thing you’re forgetting, what happens to an animal when it is trapped in the corner? It will scratch, it will claw and it will tear your eyes out to get what it wants and where it needs to go. I’ve got nothing left to lose man because If I fail again in EBWF, I am not coming back to disappoint again. I’ll go to PWG, ROH or wherever to earn my money the way I deserve too. Right now however, I stand in this EBWF ring, in front of the EBWF Universe and with my son watching at home telling you, Roman, I’ve got nothing left to lose in this company. What do you have to lose?”
Kevin looked to the crowd and riled them up by flailing his arms.
“And lastly, If I have to rebuild my career by scratch then so be it. The Broken, you need challengers, I’m right god damn here. I will take that Breakout Championship from Jimmy Havoc, Intercontinental from Seth, Tag, PTG and the god damn EBWF Championship. You wanna try me then so be it! I will be back at the top of this mountain once again and whoever gets in my way will be destroyed.”
Kevin threw the mic on the ground and looked towards the ramp way waiting for Roman to make his entrance.
