The Truth

Post by Will »

AJ Styles had made it. He had become EBWF World Champion and essentially had the best spot in all of sports entertainment. Finally, he could call himself the upper echelon of wrestling talent. No one could ever doubt him again. But there was just one thing that finally put him over the top in his own mind. Taking part in the main event of Fannivesary as the World Champion. This was the very first time he would do so in this company and he felt he had cemented himself. He wasn't even annoyed with all of the media appearances and interviews he had to do to promote the company. Walking through his simple hotel, he gazed out an open window and down at the busy city streets. He had come a long way not only in his wrestling career but in his EBWF career as well. Styles wasn't the most open person in the world but he couldn't help but smile a little to himself. He was going to do what he loved in front of an arena full of his friends, both past and present. His girlfriend Ronda was going to be there and able to see him completely in his element. The potential of defending the World Title in the 15th EBWF Fannivesary... What more could any wrestler possibly ask for?

EBWF Magazine. The headline read: "AJ Styles NEW World Champion". A two page interview followed with a photograph of AJ Styles returning at SummerSlam one month ago along with his victory at Destiny over Chris Jericho. The magazine was being held open and after it was closed, AJ Styles stood revealed. The Four Time World Champion was sporting a black and blue sweat suit and gave a smirk to the camera. He stood on a street corner with slow traffic in the background.

AJ Styles: So, what I have here is the very latest edition of EBWF Magazine and what we've got inside of it is an interview and cool pictures of your truly. AJ Styles. Strangely enough, PJ Black is nowhere to be found. Well, why is that? I mean, he is the Path to Glory Champion, right?

Setting the newspaper aside, he tapped his chin lightly in a mock display of thought.

AJ Styles: There's only one reason I can think of. Maybe it's because, despite that mouth of his that constantly keeps running, despite all the tough talk, every living person, and maybe even a few dead people, know that when PJ Black steps into the ring with me there is no way in hell you should bet your money on him.

Styles seemed very strongly about his last statement.

AJ Styles: There's a reason I'm the World Champion and PJ Black is not, or never will be. That's because things needed to be shaken up in this company. If PJ Black became champion... everyone would just kind of stare in a blank silence. As if what they were looking at wasn't really happening.

Styles lifted up his sweatshirt a bit to reveal the Golden belt he had on.

AJ Styles: I mean, don't get me wrong, your little belt is pretty cool. I mean cool as in it looks like you got it at a local thrift stop a few blocks down. But I think the World Championship suits me just a little better. Around a guy like PJ Black's horrendous waist, it would just losing it's luster. PJ Black, what's the plan? Huh? To break Ted Jr's record? That's not very impressive. So, what's PJ Black's big plan to take professional wrestling where it needs to be in 2016? It's simple. He doesn't have one. He has no plan. He's just a loud mouth douche that only has a title so he can be happy and keep his girlfriend in the company... Who I might add, isn't even that hot these days. That's not what the fans need and it's certainly not what the World Title needs. They need if you haven't caught on yet, AJ Styles.

He slapped his chest, right about where his heart would be.

AJ Styles: I really shouldn't brag. Because if you take a look at the history books, I've beaten PJ Black before. And I've made it look easy. I guess it's because that would kind of be like a hungry wolf taking on a wounded duck. Predictable and anti-climatic. I've had wars with Black multiple times and I've fought on the same side as him. But at this exact moment I'm waiting to send a message to the rest of the locker room. I'm not going to leave that arena without shoving my foot down his throat. I know how to beat him, I have beaten him, and I'll do it again. And I would suggest for the rest of the locker room to steer clear when I get through with him. Because I'll tear straight through all of them to defend this gold around my waist.

It was obvious that the animosity between these two rivals had yet to die down.

AJ Styles: The Path to Glory Champion, the belt I made famous by the way by being the first to cash it in for a shot at The World Championship. It's no secret that I've never liked PJ Black but it's kind of sad to see him reduced to a footnote in this company's history. But he's probably too busy being a "daredevil" to realize what's going on. If anything, that will work to my advantage. Maybe he will jump off of something really high, on fire singing 'I Believe I Can Fly' into a pavement so I don't have to waste my time with him anymore. Works well for me. The end result is PJ Black walking home empty handed. Well, I mean, aside from that PTG title which somebody will probably beat him for before he has a chance to cash it in.

A light shrug followed.

AJ Styles: Now that I've done the whole run down deal, I've got a message for you, PJ Black. Congrats on your latest victory. Congrats on main eventing Warfare. But, sorry about the fact that it's going to be against me. Just like last time, but the same result. I want the rest of the locker room to watch real close. Because what I'm going to do to PJ Black is NOTHING compared to what's in store for whomever challenges me come Fannivesary. And seeing as how I am the best wrestler in the world, I think I'm the most qualified guy to do it. That phrase isn't just something to sell t-shirts. It's the truth.

After his declaration, the outspoken superstar made his peace and stepped out of the camera's frame.
