My Legacy

Post by Cory »

Backstage at Fanniversary, the camera turned on and focused on Natalya who was in the hallway. She had on a black and pink wrestling outfit, and her blonde and pink hair was tied into a tight ponytail. She had one boot on one of the shock rack cases with an EBWF logo on them, and she was stretching her hamstrings. Renee Young appeared to her left with a microphone in hand.

Renee Young: Natalya, you have an opportunity tonight to become number one contender for the EBWF Women's Championship, currently held by Sasha Banks. You're going to need to earn it however, as you have to face Alexa Bliss, Velvet Sky, and Eva Marie and defeat them in order to get the shot. What are your thoughts going into this match?

Nattie cocked an irritated eyebrow, looking in Renee's direction incredulously.

Natalya: Remember when you used to be a credible journalist, Renee? Remember when you got here, and as one of the first ever female wrestling correspondents, you made sure to ask the tough questions? I remember that time.

Nattie straightened herself up, planting her feet on the floor and looking at Renee with an icy stare of contempt.

Natalya: Now you stand there and ask me the same stupid question everyone asks someone with my talent. "What are your thoughts?". I'll tell you what my thoughts are. You're pathetic, Renee. You and all these other pathetic women that call themselves wrestlers. What passes for a female wrestler in 2016 makes me absolutely ill.

With a swipe of the hand, Natalie snatched the mic forcefully out of Renee's hand and gave her a push backward with her free hand. Renee stumbled out of the view of the camera, and the shot centered on Nattie. She stared into the camera angrily, her nostrils flaring.

Natalya: The Fabulous Moolah. Bull Nakano. Alundra Blayze. Luna Vachon. Chyna. Alexa Bliss? Velvet Sky?! EVA MARIE?!

In stark contrast to the reverence she showed when speaking of the first several names, she practically spat out the last three in disgust.

Natalya: I don't think so. These aren't women. They can't compare with the legends of this industry. Every time I am in the ring, every time I fight, my goal is to be the best and to earn myself a spot amongst the trailblazers that came before me. I'm not there to look pretty, or be photographed, or look cute in a pair of tight wrestling trunks. I'm here to twist up my opponent like a pretzel and tap her out. I'm here to win. So, tonight I'm going out there and I'm going to become the number one contender for the EBWF Women's Championship if for NO other reason than the woman at the top is a terrible excuse for a wrestler. Just look at the match that's going on for the women's title tonight. Some jersey shore trash is going up against someone who clearly failed remedial English. That is the image that we're trying to sell to the world of women's wrestling, and it disgusts me. Likewise, we've got Velvet Sky, Alexa Bliss, and Eva Marie who should count their lucky stars that they're even sniffing a women's title shot. The only reason any of them even have a chance is because I need someone to make an example out of and make an example I will tonight. It's Fanniversary, one of the most important nights in EBWF, and maybe all of wrestling period. Tonight, I will rectify certain inequities in EBWF.

She paused.

Natalya: Eva, that means I'm going to right some wrongs, in case you just got a headache. Tonight, I am going to tilt the balance of power in the women's division, and ensure that my legacy is immortal. Too long have I sat idly by while women who could barely hack it as a valet fight for the most prestigious championship in women's wrestling. When I step into the ring and turn three women into twisted up, mangled wrecks, the fans of EBWF will finally know that the time of swimsuit models and body builders is at an end. The time of the TRUE Iron Maiden is only just beginning.

Nattie looked off camera and glared at Renee Young as she threw the mic down on the ground. With a flip of her ponytail, she walked off in a huff. The scene faded to an EBWF logo and went to black.
