Remember AJ Styles?

Post by Will »

Standing against a locker room wall wearing a black "Phenomenal" hoodie was the number one contender for the EBWF Championship.

Michael Cole: Ladies and Gentlemen, with me at this time is the man who's set to take on Chris Jericho in your MAIN EVENT of the evening. The Phenomenal... AJ Styles.

AJ Styles: Thanks, Cole. It's kinda ironic that this show is called Survivor Series..

Styles began speaking as he removed his hood.

AJ Styles: Because tonight when that Hell in a Cell lowers around that ring, the only way to escape will be to survive. Chris Jericho and I have been at each other's neck for the past 3 months and he must really think he can beat me. He must also be really, really stupid. Because what ol' Ayatollah of Assclows seems to be forgetting, I've beaten him decisively on almost every occasions. Last time it was at Destiny. Just the two of us. No excuses. And he couldn't get it done. Last month at Fannivesary, I had him beat. Until, his "best friend" Wes Ikeda suck his nose where it didn't belong. So I'm beginning to believe Chris Jericho is the coward I called him out to be.

Michael Cole: I'm detecting some lack of respect for The World Champion.

AJ Styles: You're fucking right. Whatever shred of respect I used to have for Chris Jericho as a performer is gone. He's lost all my respect. He's desperate and that's why he why he's looking for a way out of this. But he won't have one tonight in that Cell.

Styles scratched his chin, before continuing.

AJ Styles: When I beat Chris Jericho again, and I'm going to, this is over. The end. He's going to be emasculated in front of millions. Maybe It'll help to mold him back into the WRESTLER he used to be. This is going to end and I'm somewhat disappointed. Not that it's been easy, for all his obvious faults, Jericho can still go. No, I'm disappointed that I couldn't drag the Chris Jericho of old out of him. I wanted the leader of Fed Ex that used to swagger around here like he owned the world. I never got that. I got this lifeless, selfish clone that can't live without being in the spotlight. Well, Chris is going to get what he desires so very much. The spotlight. Right beneath me as I stand over him raising the EBWF World Championship.

Michael Cole: Excuse me, but one has to wonder with this is being your final attempt in the foreseeable future, have you considered that he may do anything possible to come out with the win?

AJ Styles: Of course I have. And maybe now I'll get the Chris Jericho of old. But it's a little too late. I know everything the man is capable of. He might surprise me but it won't be enough. He's going down in a blaze of glory. Because when Jericho loses to me tonight, tomorrow he'll be available for all those outside ventures. Fozzy? 2017 tour. Dancing With The Stars? Can you say, Fandango? Another book? Who cares?

Styles took a moment to look seriously into the camera.

AJ Styles: If he thinks he's been in hell these last few months, you can bet your ass that he hasn't seen anything yet.

Styles' confidence, and not to mention his ego, had grown. He had to feel like he was unbeatable.

Michael Cole: Any last words to Mr. Jericho before your encounter?

AJ Styles: Yeah, I have some parting words..

Grabbing the camera, he made sure it was focused directly on himself.

AJ Styles: Chris, you say you're the best in world at what you do. I say.. prove it.

Styles pulled his hood back over his messy hair as the scene faded to black.

Survivor Series was taking place at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri and usually the fans knew to expect pre-show promos. A number squash matches had already taken place, and there was already a different feel in the air. Out of nowhere “Phenomenal” by CFO$ blasted over the PA system and the fans erupted into cheers as the lights started to flash from blue to white to blue. Eventually, AJ Styles emerged on the stage a looking focused. Dressed in his usual attire he shouted “They Don't Want None” in sync with his theme music to pump himself and the crowd up, making his way down the ramp and greeting the fans. He slowly walked up the steel steps, receiving a microphone as he entered the ring.

AJ Styles: I don't know if anyone has noticed. But I seem to be on a bit of a losing streak.

The EBWF fans didn't approve, if if it were true.

AJ Styles: Even though anything can happen in this business, I'm not worried going into tonight. I’ve been in the ring with the best. I’ve beaten some of the best this company has to offer. I’ve beaten guys better than our so-called World champion. I’ve beaten guys stronger than our so-called World champion. I’ve beaten guys faster than our so-called World champion, I’ve beaten guys who talk better than our so-called World champion and I’ve beaten guys who are simply better wrestlers than our so-called World champion. So no, I’m not worried about tonight. But you wanna know who should be worried about tonight? Our so-called World Champion should be worried. And if you wanna know why, just look up.

Styles looked up along with he rest of the people in the audience at the ominous structure that hung above. The cameras took a moment to get a good look at the Hell in a Cell before returning to the ring.

AJ Styles: Tonight, inside Hell in a Cell, there won't be anywhere for Chris Jericho to run or hide. There won't be any outside interference. There won't be any rules, beside pinning your shoulders to the mat or making you tap out. Tonight, we will both walk into this ring, but there's a chance neither of us will walk out of Hell in a Cell. So, I don't care if I have to get carried out on a stretcher, I'm going to do whatever it I have to do to ensure I'm the one that's wheeled out of this building the World Champion.

Styles paced the ring while looking up at the Cell.

AJ Styles: This all began with you turning your back on these people, Chris. When you decided you were gonna be a coward, instead of an amazing wrestler. I've been in this company for years and I've seen you battle for what was right the entire time. When CM Punk and Brian Kendrick were running rough shot over this place you were there fighting the good fight. When The Shield emerged on the scene in the EBWF, who was the first guy to stand up for what was right? Chris Jericho. When The Miz was reigning World Champion, I'm pretty fucking sure Chris Jericho dethroned him. Even when Wes Ikeda said fuck the good guy gig and put blood on your kid, you still fought like it was no tomorrow. So, what happened? What happened to the Best in the World. Where did this sneaky, creepy, scarf wearing, coward come from? It doesn't matter really, not to me. Maybe to these people, but not to me. I don't want any answers from you. The only thing I want from you is that EBWF World Championship. And tonight I plan on winning it for the fifth time, right here in Kansas City, Missouri!

Stealing a page out of the Hardcore Legend's playbook he received a massive pop from the audience.

AJ Styles: After Survivor Series there won't be any room to doubt who the better wrestler is. And it's very appropriate that this match is taking place in a Hell in a Cell. Because I'm not locked in there with Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho is locked in there with me.

The camera is beckoned closer simply for the intent of showing off his grin.

AJ Styles: You're going to be locked inside with AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One. The Man. The Big Bad Wolf. The Greatest fucking Wrestler in the Galaxy. Whatever I need to be to get the job done. I'm out here being a nice guy, but if we could all be serious for a moment and remember just who the fuck I am. Remember AJ Styles? The vicious son of a bitch that would do anything to get his way. Yeah, that guy. That's the guy that's stepping into the Hell in a Cell tonight and that's the guy who will be beating you to become the NEW World Champion. Count on it.

Styles dropped the microphone to a mixed reaction from the audience. He made his way to the back while his music played. Ruthless aggression was the only thing going through his mind. He was certainly in the right state of mind going into this barbaric encounter.
