Apologies for the poor showing, haven't been too well recently, didn't want to no show again.

MONDAY APRIL 17 2017 – EBWF MONDAY NIGHT WARFARE – ROYAL FARMS ARENA – BALTIMORE; MARYLAND

Sami Zayn was almost a forgotten man in the EBWF; almost back at the same level he was at when he first stepped through the EBWF doors before scratching and clawing his way to the top. Despite being one of the most reliable babyfaces on the roster, it was clear that something was wrong and that was shown by his role at WrestleMania – it was non existent. He wasn’t in action, and to him, that was a huge blow even if he did take part in all of the festivities surrounding the historic event. Still, WrestleMania was now in the books and wallowing over it would be of no use. It was time to lace up the boots one more, and hope that the remainder of the year would bring a lot of success, and Sami was determined that he he’d put everything behind him and start again – hitting that reset button.

The cameras were in the backstage area inside of the Royal Farms Arena where Warfare was emanating from, but hadn’t kicked off yet. Renee Young was seen along with an EBWF.net exclusive in the bottom left of the screen, something that would be aired a little later on as she spoke into the camera.

Renee Young: Ladies and gentlemen I’m backstage inside of the Royal Farms Arena with Warfare set to go live in a little over an hour, alongside me is Sami Zayn who has just arrived into the arena. Sami…it’s been a while since you’ve been around and tonight you’re back in action and taking on Cesaro. What’s going on in your head?

Sami smiled at Renee as he exhaled loudly, wondering where to begin as he sat his suitcase down next to him.

Sami Zayn: I…uh…I don’t even know where to begin, Renee. It’s well documented that I’m like a forgotten man now in this company, the very thing I didn’t want to become is where I’m at right now. You know…it kills to know that WrestleMania was a massive success and I played no part in it whatsoever. Sure, I smiled and signed autographs and took pictures and got to hang out with everyone at the back and have some good times. But nothing matches up to competing inside of the ring in our biggest event, and I didn’t even make the pre-show. It sucks, but what can you do?

Renee Young: So what’s the thought process now? How do you get out of this?

Sami Zayn: Win, I guess. Easier said than done, though. I think it’s time do just do what I do best and that’s go out there and compete. Lately I haven’t been enjoying myself and I think tonight or very soon that could change if things go my way. I think now it’s pointless to discuss WrestleMania, it’s a new wrestling year and I’m hitting that reset button and hopefully my luck around here changes against Cesaro tonight. He’s been on a tear recently, really impressive and I’m looking forward to getting into the ring with him.

Renee Young: You mentioned being in this rut, is it wise for you to think your fortunes will change starting with Cesaro? Somebody that has impressed a lot in recent months?

Sami Zayn: Not a chance. I need this, I’ve always had this mind set from the day I had my first match. The way I see it is that the whole EBWF landscape is changing. Three years ago, who would have thought PJ Black would be the World Champion right now? Times are changing, and because of that we all need to adapt, and that means because WrestleMania is in the books, new challengers will emerge and until anything is official, everybody is a contender. Of anyone deserves a chance to prove themselves in these ever-changing times, it’s probably Cesaro and that’s someone I simply have to beat to stand any chance of getting back in any title picture. There’s no bad blood, no rivalry, just a sense of competition and wanting to be better than him. I don’t think I can be in the world title conversation if I’m taking on – no disrespect here – Matt Sydal or JTG – I need to beat the best, and I need to beat Cesaro. It’s as simple as that.

With that, Sami walked off hopeful that a win over Cesaro could be the turning point in his EBWF career.
