Anyway, back on topic, these promos have sent the IWC on a rampage regarding their true hype target, creating some interesting prospects for guys that may be on the verge of EBWF Gimmick Greatness. (Or y'know, Failure). That brings us to this article, in which we here at djZcm.net will present you the top five people who may be behind these recent promos.
Jeff Hardy
Now, I know what you're all thinking. After Hardy's track record, why hire him with such a big role to work on. Well, trust is my answer. It could be a sign of good faith from management, telling him this is for him IF he can be on his best behaviour.
Why it may be him:
- Jeff Hardy's been known for bizarre, odd and just downright promos and well... Life. Why not have real life write the plot for a twist?
- The blue eyes which Hardy is known to use contacts to have them.
- The "rise" he talks about could be the resurrection of his career.
Why it may NOT be him:
- The voice, unless it's a red herring.
- He is believed to have recently signed a new contract with TNA.
- His gimmick has been established for years, to change it so much right now would be wrong in this reporter's opinion.
Conor O'Brian
This guy is very new in the business and he's been working his butt off with this new goth gimmick which seems to match the gimmick shown in the videos. But as I said, he's a bit new in the business, and as we all know, EBWF seeks the creme de la creme, so while he ranks above Hardy, he still seems like a longshot.
Why it may be him:
- The similarities in the gimmick.
- The aspect.
- The voice.
Why it may NOT be him:
- Lack of experience.
- Lack of status in the business.
- Vince McMahon-made gimmick.
Paul Burchill
Another man overlooked by the mainstream companies, and yet a man who has a great deal of talent and charisma to back it up. This gimmick could be a throwback to other gimmicks this man has portrayed in the past, such as the ripper. From O'Brian to Burchill there is one big leap and I, for one wouldn't mind it if it was actually Burchill.
Why it may be him:
- The aspect;
- The voice;
- The gimmick as a throwback to The Ripper.
Why it may not be him:
- Lack of practice.
- Ringrust, considering him not wrestling since 2011.
- His stable job as a firefighter.
Stone Cold Steve Austin
We all know Austin isn't shy about doing a "darker" promo, even if it seems more suitable for The Undertaker than for him. Still, I don't see the Rattlesnake making that mistake ever again, since that was dropped on its debut week.
Why it may be him:
- The aspect;
- The voice
- Past Gimmick revisit.
Why it may NOT be him:
- Neck Injuries
- Age
- The previous attempt's complete and utter bombing.
- Steve Austin isn't stupid enough to do that again.
Kevin Fertig
Also known as Kevin Thorn, this man has made a living out of creepy gimmicks from the anti-Undertaker, Mordecai to the Vampiric Kevin Thorn. A solid all-rounder could be all EBWF needs to help their roster become more dense and varied. I'd heve to say my money's on Fertig to appear in the Vampire gimmick.
Why it may be him:
- The aspect;
- The voice
- Past Gimmick revisiting.
- Desire to make it in mainstream.
Why it may NOT be him:
- I honestly can't think of any, my money's on Kevin Thorn!
