A Test of Character

Post by Kyle »

OOC: I think I've done well with this one, I got permission to use The Miz from D.J. Good luck to Dylan, I've enjoyed reading your work.

Scene 1

After a brutal match with Randy Orton, Ted sat in The Trilogy locker room with ice on his neck. There was a TV in the locker room that was turned off and since Ted had nothing else to do he turned the TV on and immediately saw AJ Styles standing over The Miz, who was clutching at his ribs. Ted didn't know what was going on and knew that Mike was hurt. Ted turned the TV off and quickly packed his bags and left the locker room. He walked out and searched for Mike. Near the exit was an ambulance that had the doors open and several paramedic staff were standing around there. On closer inspection Ted saw Mike who was still holding his ribs. Ted rushed over to see him.

Ted Jr: Mike, what the hell happened? I just saw on the TV in the locker room.

Mike Mizanin: You saw on TV?! You should have been out there helping me win back MY World Championship! Your job in the Trilogy is to make me Champion and nothing else.

Ted Jr: Since when did you become the leader Mike? After Allen left the group you have treated me like I'm nothing more than a lackey. I won the Path to Glory Championship by myself. I didn't have you or Allen help me win it. I defended my championship at Wrestlemania while you lost yours. If anything, I performed better than you have when the lights are on bright.

Mike Mizanin: Really? Really? Ted before you joined the Trilogy you were going to be released. You haven't been relevant since 2010 and if it wasn't for me you would be out of a job. Sure you won the Path to Glory Championship. But I won the WORLD Championship! I am better than you Ted, so consider this the END of the Trilogy.

Mike pushed Ted away from him and stared at him with an expression of pure disgust. He was still in a lot of pain so he held his ribs and grimaced slightly. Ted began to walk off but soon turned back to have one final word to Mike.

Ted Jr: Enjoy your 'time off' Mike. Because now I'm free. You're an insufferable, egotistical, megalomaniacal asshole who will not be missed. I will turn the Trilogy into what it should be. A true dominant force in EBWF.

Ted didn't wait for a response from Mike as he left the area and went back to his locker room to get his bags.

Scene 2

This week's Warfare was to be held in a city that Ted loved. Las Vegas was known around the world for its Casinos and that is exactly where Ted went off to. Ted entered the famous MGM Grand Casino and immediately ventured off to high roller tables. Ted looked the part with a stylish Italian designed black suit, over his shoulder rested his Path to Glory Championship. His title was a status symbol to him and he made sure that everyone knew who he was. Ted found a table where a group of men were engaged in a game of Poker. Ted looked at the group of men with a look of disdain. 5 old, overweight business men smoking cigars and flaunting their money did not interest Ted.

Ted Jr: Leave.

The men turned away from their game to look at Ted, one of them laughed before they all turned back to their game. Ted snapped his fingers and within seconds there were two large security guards.

Ted Jr: I said leave. Don't make me repeat myself.

The security guards advanced towards the men who begrudgingly stood up and left. Once the men had left Ted reached into his pocket and took out his wallet. He fished out several $100 bills and handed them to both security guards.

Ted Jr: Good job.

The security guards left and Ted was now standing alone, except for the dealer who was still sitting at the table.

Ted Jr: I meant you as well. Now leave.

The dealer didn't need to be told twice as he left quickly. Ted grabbed his phone and dialled a number.

Ted Jr: I want a camera man here in 5 minutes; I'm at the MGM Grand Casino.

Ted ended the call soon after and sat where the dealer sat and went through the deck of cards. Sure enough, in 5 minutes a camera man entered approached Ted. The camera man was panting heavily as he had raced to get to Ted on time.

Ted Jr: Can we start recording?

The camera man nodded and set up his camera and started recording.

Ted Jr: Welcome to Sin City. The venue for the destruction of Jimmy Jacobs. Are you a messiah or merely another forgotten entity trying to get the people interested. The difference between you and me is simple: I do not care about the people in the stands. I do not want to lead them. Leave that to CM Punk or AJ Styles. I am on the rise and trust me; the fun has only just begun. You've heard about the Summer of Punk or the Age of Orton. My time in the spotlight doesn't need to have a catchy name to market to the masses, it's just reality. Last week I defeated the Silent Assassin Randy Orton. I got the job done, but the same couldn't be said for my former protégé The Miz. I tried to help him after the event but his ego got in the way. Well he's history now and with him out of the equation the Trilogy as you all know it is dead. I continue my winning ways this week by disposing of Jimmy Jacobs. I'll admit that he has changed since the last time he was here. I can almost remember in 2010 when he was nothing more than a depressed little emo kid. I also remembered when he and Tyler Black attacked and injured me. Was it because you saw me as a threat? Were you scared that I was going to beat you? Let me take you back to Christmas Eve of Destruction in 2010. How did it feel when I spilt your blood all over the ring? How did it feel to lose not only the match but your tag team title? Where did you go from there? Straight back to the indies where you belong. Let’s face it, you may have been considered a big fish in the indies but I am a great white shark, when you get in that ring with me I will rip you to shreds and send you packing. You said that you refuse to accept me as your champion. On Monday I'll force that fact right down your throat. I'll show you and the world who the Path to Glory Champion is.

Ted went through the deck of cards before pulling out the King of Spades.

Ted Jr: This is a King, a ruler of nations. They ruled armies and conquered so in glorious triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. The world will not remember your crusade to become a momentary messiah. Your words will never be immortalised. My actions will. I'll go down in history as the best Path to Glory Champion in EBWF history. I will never be an afterthought.

Ted threw the card down before pulling out the 4 of Hearts.

Ted Jr: I will be the fourth opponent for you since your return. I'll put up more of a fight than the last 3.

Ted quickly discarded the card. After dropping the card he threw the rest of the pack at the camera. He then leaned forward towards the camera pointing at his Path to Glory Championship.

Ted Jr: How bad do you want this Jacobs? The only way you will ever take this title from me is if you pry it from my cold dead hands. Better men have tried and failed at taking this from me. I've taken this belt away from an EBWF legend and a 3 time World Champion and the longest reigning Path to Glory Champion. If you show up at the Orleans Arena I will crucify you and the whole world will see.

Ted stood up and the recording cut off.

Scene 3

Warfare emanated from the Orleans Arena, the crowd was ecstatic and cheering loud for the upcoming show. While the final preparations were being made Ted DiBiase sat in his locker room calmly. His locker room represented his lifestyle; it was big, lavish and better than everybody else. Ted sat on the bench with a Bible in his hand. He was reading through it when he heard a knock on the door.

Ted Jr: Come in.

The door opened and Matt Striker entered with a camera man following him.

Matt Striker: Hi, Ted. I was wondering if I could do a quick interview with you before your match?

Ted Jr: Sure.

Ted stood up, still holding his bible as the camera man starts recording.

Matt Striker: Good evening everyone and welcome to another action packed edition of Warfare. Fresh off the heels of Aftermath we have a great night for you. Tonight we will see Jimmy Jacobs challenge Ted DiBiase for his Path to Glory Championship. With me at this time is none other than Ted DiBiase.

The camera moved to show Ted DiBiase next to Striker.

Matt Striker: So Ted, tonight you take on the self-proclaimed 'Messiah of Professional Wrestling'. A man that has looked quite impressive since returning to EBWF.

Ted Jr: Impressive? Hardly. Let’s go through the people he has defeated. Christian and Ken Shamrock. Christian was always good, but never great, and Ken Shamrock has long past his prime but even then he was never able to reach the heights that I have reached. Who's next? Santino Marella. I don't need to say anything more. There is also Daniel Bryan, probably the most talented of the lot; a man who actually knows how to wrestle but he could only achieve success in the indies like Jimmy. His last opponent was James Storm, a mean drunk who used to wrestle in TNA. You will never see me compete inebriated or under the influence of anything. My skills are natural and not enhanced by anything.

Matt Striker: You are coming off a big win over Randy Orton, though it was very controversial due to the interference of The Miz.

Ted glared at Striker.

Ted Jr: Do you think that without The Miz's help, Orton would have won?

Matt Striker: I... uhh.

Ted Jr: Don't answer that. I could have defeated him without interference from The Miz.

Matt Striker: Do you think tonight will be more of a challenge now that The Miz does not have your back?

Ted Jr: Did he ever have my back? No. Sure he interfered in some of my matches, but I did not want that. The Miz is all about himself just like Jimmy Jacobs. He wants to call himself a Messiah and rule the people when in reality he is just trying to make a name for himself at my expense. You want to force your words down people's throat, make them listen by force.

Ted opened his bible and flicked through it until he found the page he was looking for.

Ted Jr: 'I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak'. This was from the REAL Messiah, not a fraud in a Guy Fawkes mask. 'Remember, remember, the fifth of November', it should be changed to 'Remember, remember, the seventh of May'. Sure, it's not catchy and it doesn't rhyme, but it does have some significance. It is the day that Jimmy Jacobs thought he could bring his crusade to EBWF and take me out. Tonight is when I send you back down to reality. You may be undefeated since your return but you have not faced anyone worthy of being in the ring with me yet. You defeated a drunk at Aftermath; I defeated the longest reigning World Champion.

Matt Striker: In Jacobs' interview with Josh Matthews he claimed that you've never worked a day in your life and that you are only here because of your father and his money.

Ted Jr: Did you know that I was not going to become a wrestler? I graduated college with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Business Administration. I had my life set; I did not plan to become a wrestler. But when you've grown up in a wrestling family you have a deep set need and desire to be in that ring. You judge me because I made it to the big leagues only a couple of years after my professional wrestling debut. But guess what? It wasn't my father that won the World Tag Team Championship twice in the WWE. It wasn't my father that won the World Championship or the several Tag Team and Path to Glory Championships. I did that. I fought with every breath in my body to win those championships. I have been in the ring with the likes of KENTA, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho and I have held my own. So just because I didn't waste my time in the indies, that doesn't make me beneath you.

Ted holds the Path to Glory Championship close to the camera.

Ted Jr: That makes you beneath ME!

Off camera, Striker signalled to cut the recording and it was done swiftly. Striker and the camera man left the locker room and left Ted alone. Ted was full of energy and psyched up. Before he was about to leave there was another knock on the door.

Ted Jr: I've already had an interview, go away.

Instead of going away, the door opened once more but it wasn't an interviewer or a camera man that entered. It was The Brain, Bobby Heenan. The 67 year old entered the room to Ted's surprise. Ted and Bobby quickly embraced with a hug.

Bobby Heenan: I heard you were competing tonight so I thought I'd pay you a visit before your match.

Ted was still speechless with the arrival of Bobby Heenan.

Bobby Heenan: Well are you going to say something or are you going to stand there looking like an idiot?

Ted laughed and so did Bobby.

Ted Jr: I'm just surprised that you're here. I thought after your last run with me that would be it, you would be gone from wrestling.

Bobby Heenan: I am gone from wrestling, but who says I can't turn up and give my friend a few words of advice before his match?

Ted silently listened as Heenan imparted some wisdom upon him.

Bobby Heenan: Now, you're bigger and stronger than he is but don't let his size fool you. He's quick and he'll use that speed to his advantage. But you already know that, you haven't been champion by underestimating your opponents. But listen up; he has everything to gain and nothing to lose. You on the other hand have everything to lose. He wants to make an example out of you and take your title away from you. Are you going to let him?

Ted Jr: No.

Bobby Heenan: Come on Ted, you sound like a little girl. Is he going to take that title from you tonight?

Ted Jr: Hell No!

Bobby Heenan: That's better. Now if you defeat him you will stop his little movement.

Ted Jr: His movement has no chance of gaining any momentum with me in the way. As long as I am still moving and breathing the Path to Glory Championship is mine.

Bobby Heenan: Now get out there and beat Jimmy Jacobs.

Ted was pumped up and rearing to go. He exited the locker room after putting the Path to Glory Championship around his waist. He knew tonight was make or break for both him and Jimmy Jacobs. His momentum would play a large role in the outcome of this match and with the departure of The Miz he would have to do this without outside interference.
