Killing The Killer

The octagon. Usually the home of mixed martial arts. Now it was the home of AJ Styles. With a World Championship Submission match coming up Styles wanted to be both physically and mentally prepared for what was coming. When the lights are the brightest all eyes would be on AJ Styles to deliver the match of his career. The pressure would be on him like never before. What better way to get in top submission form than to touch up on his Brazilian Jujitsu first hand with a sparring partner who was the self proclaimed "Best in the World."

AJ Styles found himself shoot wrestling for an entire hour before finally taking a break. His sparring partner was no joke and pushed him to his limit.

AJ Styles: You still got it.

Opening up a bottle of water Styles found a seat outside the cage. Sweat seemingly dripping from his forehead Styles found a towel in attempt to cool himself off.

CM Punk: Just because I haven't been on the road with you guys doesn't mean I've been sitting on my ass eating snack packs.

The proof was in the putting and Punk still was in peak physical condition. The two taking the time out to train with one another was a benignity for both men. Punk had always been a big fan of MMA and it was no secret because everyone knew he practiced it, Styles however had always been a fan and with an amateur background in wrestling Styles found it to be second nature inside the 8 sided ring. With Punks pending return it was good for him to be working with Styles who was arguably one of the best in ring workers in the EBWF at the moment.

CM Punk: You're going to need one hell of a strategy going into a match against Randy Orton. A few chair shots aren't going to get the job done.

The truth was, Styles was all about strategy. He knew that this match wasn't about pin falls. The two gladiators would have to beat the other into submission which was never a simple task.

AJ Styles: That's why I'm here. I know it's not going to be easy making Randy Orton say "I Quit". My last few victories came via Calf Killer, a nice little submission that I added to my arsenal. That's doesn't mean I have an advantage though. I need to be prepared for any situation in this match.

CM Punk: I understand where you're coming from. I don't blame you for wanting to be ready. Don't let Randy's limited move set and the fact that I've never seen him pull off a submission a single time fool you. I underestimated him once before and because of it Randy beat me for the World Championship.

Probably not Punks proudest moment to mention which lead to the longest World Championship reign in EBWF history. It couldn't of been that embarrassing because Punk went on to hold the championship multiple times after that.

CM Punk: I mean, I got better and kicked his ass on the way to winning the King of the Ring, but still. He doesn't go down without a fight.

AJ Styles: I'm not underestimating him. In fact, it's the other way around. Randy is underestimating me. That's just how cocky and arrogant he has become lately. Just because I'm associated with Paul Heyman he assumes I've going to be a push over contender. Too bad he's just making an ass out of himself.

Punk who was known to be an undercover "Paul Heyman Guy" let out a laugh over the last remark.

CM Punk: Trust me, I know the power of Paul Heyman. He can help elevate your career if you allow him. That's doesn't mean you're a push over. The guys has managed more World Champions than Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, that's saying something. The two of us haven't always seen eye to eye, AJ, but even I know that you're no push over.

The two were no strangers to in ring competition with one another. Waging war over the Path to Glory and World Championship Styles and Punk weren't "friends" but did however learn to respect one another during their time as coworkers.

AJ Styles: Randy really doesn't know what he is getting himself into. I'm usually the one talking about how it doesn't matter if I win or lose, but now it does. I have to win. I NEED to win. That's the difference between the two of us. Win or lose, Randy is going to be okay. He will still be a major player and when you think of EBWF you will still think of Randy Orton. I haven't reached that pinnacle yet. Sure, last year was the Summer of Styles...

CM Punk: You mean the Year of Punk?

AJ Styles: Don't be a smart ass, you slammy winning son of a bitch.

The two shared a brief laugh over the success of the second city saint.

AJ Styles: It's been over a year since I held the World Championship and I can't wait any longer. Survivor Series is my night to shine. I know it.

CM Punk: You sound confident. That's a good thing. Now, how about we get back in the cage and make sure you're ready. Let's go.

Preparation was going to be the key to success. Styles and Punk hit the octagon and immediately grappled with one another. After today Styles knew he would be physically ready, but now he had to become mentally ready. He knew exactly what he had to do and it was sort of scary, but it had to happen. AJ Styles would do anything to be World Champion again. Anything.

It had been about two years since AJ Styles had step foot inside a church. Once upon a time he was a man that walked with god and followed in faith. Nowadays he had felt as if his soul was condemned and there was no coming back from the deeds he had done. Opening the door to the old abandoned church he felt a slight chill begin crawling down his spine. The place appeared to be unoccupied for quiet some time. Dust consumed the entire sanctuary while the pool pit contained some very filthy "Holy" water. Styles stepped slowly through the aisle observing the once beautifully designed windows that were now broken and boarded up to keep out intruders.

Willing to do anything to get mentally prepared for this match Styles had arranged a confessional at this church. Styles opened the door to a small room where people would go and tell their most dastardly sins, it was full of cob webs. After a little cleaning, Styles took a seat and closed the confessional door.

AJ Styles: Bless me father, for I have sinned and plan to sin again.

Almost immediately, Styles could hear movement from the other side and a raspy voice spoke out to him.

"Thank you for coming. When was your last confession?"

He could not see the mysterious figure and could not recognized the voice through the thick shaded glass window that was between them.

AJ Styles: Well father, it's been a while. I guess this is the part where I spill my heart.

"You may speak as you please."

AJ Styles: Where do I begin... My name is Allen Jones. I'm a professional wrestler who is known around the world as AJ Styles. I work for the biggest wrestling promotion there is, the EBWF.

"Do you like your job?"

AJ Styles: I love my job. I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. I'm currently in the position to become the World Champion, things couldn't be better.

"You say become World Champion. If I remember correctly, that means you would have to defeat the current World Champion. Correct?"

AJ Styles: Right. That would be a man who goes by the name Randy Orton.

There was a silence momentarily..

"You don't say? Hm.. How do you feel towards this man?"

AJ Styles: I dislike him immensely. I hate his theme music. I hate his tattoos. I hate his arrogant swagger. I love his wife. Oh, the things I would do to her.

"She must be a beautiful woman if she is married to man of his status."

AJ Styles: It's the other way around..

"He's a beautiful man?"

AJ Styles: If you're into guys who look like they'll rob you and rape your mother, I guess. I was referring to the fact that he is with a woman of her status. She's the boss' sister. Heir to the throne. I guess that makes him heir to the throne as well. Funny, I never thought that one day he will be my boss."

"Now do you feel less inclined to hurt him?"

AJ Styles: Not really. I still want to see him carried away on a stretcher... Again.

"Again?"

AJ Styles: Just last week I assaulted him. I beat him down more viciously than anybody in this business ever has. I hurt him so bad that I don't think he will even make it to our upcoming match. He was unresponsive, he didn't move a muscle. I thought he was crippled or even dead. Father, I'm a very bad person.

There was another silence and Styles thought he was beginning to scare the priest.

AJ Styles: I can't help it. I enjoy hurting people. I enjoy inflicting pain and agony upon others. Blood excites me. I want people to suffer like I have. I didn't use to be like this. I was once a very caring individual. I'd give the shirt off my back to help the next man.

"What changed?"

AJ Styles: People. People changed. When the people closest to you betray you and treat you as if you were dead, why would I continue to let them step all over me. I'm not a pussy. If you won't give me the respect I deserve, I will take it. I embrace the hate. Love me or hate me, I don't give a fuck. I'm dead to them and they're dead to me.

"I cannot absolve you of your sins!"

AJ Styles: Is it because I'm damned?

"No, it's simply because I feel that you're being sincere. You want to hurt people. You want to be World Champion. That seems to be the truth. You're a evil man, AJ Styles."

There was a sudden shift in the priests voice.

"In you're match with Randy Orton you are going to HURT him. You are going to make him bleed. Take away his championship. Take away his dignity. Take his wife! Make him pay for his sins! Cripple him! Kill him!"

Styles was flabbergasted. This wasn't a holy man he was confessing too. Who was it?

AJ Styles: What the fuck?

Styles exited the small closet space and snatched open the old door beside his. A cloud of smoke escaped and an exotic aroma was released within the oxygen. Styles stood in silence as he was shocked at who his spiritual adviser was.

Brian Kendrick: You know, I'm starting to like you.

Sitting in the small seat smoking a spliff was none other than the agent of chaos himself, Brian Kendrick. A man that had his last in ring match more than a year ago against Randy Orton. Kendrick extended the illegal substance to Styles only for him to decline. Kendrick shrugged his shoulders and took another deep drag as AJ turned and made a beeline towards the exit.

Brian Kendrick: Tell Phil I said hi!

Survivor Series was in full swing and the so far it was full of excitement. The capacity crowd inside the Wells Fargo Center was ready for the upcoming Traditional Survivor Series match but first they were treated to a video played on the Tron.

Renee Young: Hi, I'm Renee Young and tonight we are here in Miami, Florida for the Survivor Series! I'm backstage today for a very special poll. We are going to be getting predictions from other EBWF Superstars on who will win the SUBMISSION match for the World Championship, when Randy Orton defends against AJ Styles!

The video began to play and the blonde Canadian bombshell was in another backstage scene where she stood with her first guest who was dressed in a very expensive suit.

Renee Young: Survivor Series, AJ Styles verses Randy Orton, who will win?

Ted DiBiase: AJ Styles. Plain and Simple.

The switched to another superstar who was admiring himself in a mirror.

The Miz: Randy Orton. He is going to embarrass AJ Styles.

Now the scene switched to a outside restaurant venue where Renee was seen smiling as she awaited the answer from her next guest.

Kevin Nash: AJ Styles. Only because I know how much untapped potential he has. He can beat Randy Orton.

The scene switched quickly to a nail salon in which Renee was being pampered with her next guests.

Angelina Love: Not AJ Styles! He can't beat Randy Orton! AJ Styles is a ugly human being!

Velvet Sky: The beautiful one. Randy of course!

Now Renee was inside a hair salon and you could tell she was really enjoying this. Her next guest was all smiles as she answered the question confidently.

Trish Stratus: AJ Styles! Duh!

The final scene changed to a very bright arcade where Renee was seen riding a surfboard simulation. She was beating her guest and making him look like a rookie.

Trent?: Who cares? I'm going to beat one of them soon. Right now I'm focused on beating you. Can we switch boards next round?

The video ended and Renee was backstage smiling.

Renee Young: There you have it. The superstars are split down the middle-

Stopped all of a sudden, Renee looked surprised as she was approached by two intimidating figures.

Paul Heyman: You're excused.

The broadcast journalist didn't need to be told twice, leaving immediately. The camera panned out to reveal Paul Heyman and the current Path to Glory Champion, AJ Styles who was dressed for competition.

Paul Heyman: At this time allow me to introduce to you all to the the NEXT World Champion, AJ STYLES!

Styles wore the Path to Glory Championship on his shoulder and stepped froward before he spoke.

AJ Styles: Randy Orton, I've preached on and on for months now about survival of the fittest. Tonight I am going to cut the head off the Viper! When I attacked you I felt no pity for you, your wife, your family, friends, or fans, Randy. You got what you deserve. Just like I am going to get what I deserve. See, this has been a long time coming. We've only been inside that ring together one time and that was WrestleMania this year. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if Randy was out telling the world how he's better than me, but if my memory serves me correct, which it does, it was I who pinned him on the grandest stage of them all. Maybe that was when Randy was in his complacent state, because if was something about losing to me that woke him up. He might blame it on the Shield for tormenting his wife, but I know the truth. He was embarrassed by me! Because he knows just like I do that he was inferior on the night it mattered the most. After that, the man woke up and went on a roll. He won the Tag Team Championship, the King of the Ring, and went on to win the World Championship. What a story! You're welcome by the way, Randy. Now, how does that story end? Well folks, it ends tonight. Randy, might appear to you all as a mighty figure, but I will oppose that by saying he is nothing more than a false prophet. I on the other hand am on the verge of becoming something like a wrestling god. When I take this Path to Glory Championship and turn it in here tonight I will be restoring the prestige to a championship that should be coveted more than it has been in the past. Accomplishing something of biblical proportions when I walk out this arena the World Heavyweight Champion.

Styles appeared confident and prepared for his match while Heyman smile with satisfaction behind him.

AJ Styles: Call me crazy. Call me what you want. I see things so clearly now. Randy is not a suitable champion. He wrestles part time and has the nerve to call himself the best when I bust my ass week in and week out for this company. I'm the greatest wrestler in the galaxy. I'm the MAN in the EBWF. I've even been called Mr. EBWF. Not, Randy Orton. It's about time he hung up the boots and joined Jericho in the suits and offices. People will always remember him as one of the guys who held the World Championship way longer than he needed to. Sort of like Kevin Nash. But its convenient that tonight is Survivor Series. The same event Orton lost his first World Championship. A perfect place for him to lose his second. Randy may not view me as that big of a threat, but I promise you I am the biggest threat he has faced. I'm not Dean Ambrose. I'm a man who has everything to lose. When that bell rings there will only be one way to win, by making your opponent tap out.

A sly smile crept onto the face of the Phenomenal One.

AJ Styles: How many people have Randy Orton made tap out? None. How many people have I made tap out? Majority of the male roster. I am a savage, I am a beast, I am going to make Randy Orton tap out. No disqualifications. No countout. There must be a winner. Even if we recreate the classic encounter between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret "Hit Man" Hart I'll be the one leaving you unresponsive in a pool of your own blood. Just think about the beating I gave you recently, it was nothing compared to what I have in store for you tonight. Alone I took down Rated RKO. Something three other men failed to do before me. Just to put the preconceived notions to rest, I'm going to do this again. Alone.

Styles turned his attention to the sinister Paul Heyman. The smirk on his advocate's face was gone completely and a serious expression emerged.

Paul Heyman: You've got to be kidding me?

He wasn't. The stone look on Styles' face showed that he meant business.

AJ Styles: You're excused.

Heyman was furious as his face turned bright red. He didn't open his mouth to argue and just turned around and stormed away.

AJ Styles: Tonight, we are going to find out who the best man is. Fair and square. I'm done hearing about AJ Styles needing someone to succeed. I didn't need the Miz, I didn't need the fans, and I don't need Paul Heyman. I don't need anybody. I proved this before when I won my first World Championship and tonight I will prove it again. I am one of the most gifted athletes to ever step foot into a wrestling ring. I may have not been born in this business, like Randy has, but I have survived. The same thing I'm going to do tonight. When the lights are on bright and everything is on the line the lone wolf is going to do what he has to do when his back is against the wall. Randy, you bring the best you have. I don't want anything less. It's been over a year since I last held that championship and since then I have left a trail of bodies along my path of glory to get here to this moment. Win or lose Randy, you will always have a spot at the top of this company. In order for me to secure my spot at the top I have to go through you. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it. After tonight, I will NEVER be denied again!

The fans in attendance had a mixed reaction towards the number one contender. Styles however felt ready for the biggest match up in his career. He had only dreamed about this match since he signed a contract with the company two years ago and he was finally having it, one month before his current contract was set to expire. This was his ticket to the top of the food chain. A new contract with everything he had ever wished for was right before him. All he had to do was win the World Championship, because if he didn't he would likely lose his career and everything else along with it.
