Backstage in Nashville, Daniel Bryan was standing with Renee Young ahead of his triple threat match against Heath Slater and Christian.
Renee Young: With me at this time is Daniel Bryan, who is coming off a loss to Fandango. Tonight Daniel, you'll be going up against Heath Slater and Christian with the winner facing off against Leo Kruger for the Breakout Championship. What do you think of your opponents tonight?
Daniel wasn't in an enjoyable mood coming off a loss last week.
Daniel Bryan: Last week was a bad week for me, I wasn't on my game and I got punished. Tonight I've got to take on two opponents at the same time, one of them being a former World Champion and the other being Heath Slater. I SHOULD win this, but anything can happen in a triple threat match. It only takes one mistake to lose the match.
Renee Young: Should you win you'll challenge Leo Kruger for the Breakout Championship, a championship that he has made his own for 10 months.
Daniel Bryan: It never gets any easier in EBWF and even though people consider the Breakout Championship to be the lowest championship in EBWF, it still attracts talent that are the best in the world. There are only 6 people walking around EBWF calling themselves a champion, which means that they are the top guys and girls on the roster. It doesn't matter if I beat Leo Kruger, John Cena or even Randy Orton. A championship is a symbol of success. It shows that I'm better than everyone else and it will push me up the ranks in EBWF, something that Leo Kruger hasn't seem to have done since winning the title.
Renee Young: Much like you, Leo Kruger is somewhat unbalanced and very unpredictable. How would his style go against yours?
Daniel Bryan: I am calculated and I plan everything that I do in that ring. Leo Kruger is as you say unpredictable, but I've got 10 month’s worth of matches of his to see what he does. Anyone can be beat here in EBWF, whether he's held the title for 10 months or 10 days he is still a target and he will have people after him and his championship.
Renee Young: A triple threat match is generally full of action and anything can happen, how do you look to defeat not only Christian but Heath Slater as well?
Daniel Bryan: I really have to have eyes in the back of my head for the entire match. If I focus on one for too long, the other will recover. There have been so many times when a wrestler has finished his opponent only to be thrown out of the ring by his second opponent and lose the match. I have to make sure that when I lock in a submission, it won't be broken. When I knock someone out with a kick, nobody is there to break up the pin. I have to be fast, ruthless and direct in everything I do in the ring tonight. And when that bell goes, I have to be the one that gets his hand raised because I deserve the win. I want the win, unlike Christian who couldn't care less. I want to succeed in everything that I do now and into the future. I know how far Christian has fallen and it shows in how he conducts himself, he has no drive anymore. Heath Slater however has been racking up wins, and with the rest of 3MB nearby it could be a problem.
Renee Young: You pointed out that Heath will have the other members of 3MB with him, do you think they'll have a part in this match at all?
Daniel Bryan: It's more psychological than anything. Their presence can unnerve some people, you don't know if they'll jump you or interfere to help Heath win. We've seen it before with them and we've also seen it with other groups like The Shield. Anything can happen once that bell rings, but it's up to me to make sure that when the match is over I'm the winner.
Renee Young: Good luck in your match tonight and thank you for your time.
Daniel Bryan walked off the interview set as Renee continued to hype the rest of the show. He needed to bounce back from the loss last week, and another shot at a potential Championship match was just what he needed to get him back to his winning ways.
