Path To Gold

Post by Dan »

As the one of the PPV matches come to an end, the camera turns to Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler sat at thier announce table as they start to hype some of the upcoming matches for the ppv.

Jim 'JR' Ross: Well the excitement continues here tonight, with a number of championships on the line, including the Path to Glory title.

Jerry 'The King' Lawler: You're right JR, and I for one can't wait for this match. The Olympic Gold medalist- Kurt Angle will be making his first EBWF ppv appearance, and I'm sure his favourite to win tonight.

Jim 'JR' Ross: Now hold on King, you can't count out Ted Dibiase, he is the champion after all, and the young man will be determined to keep the title around his waste. But now let's head over to Matt Striker, who's standing by backstage.

The camera changes to showing Matt Striker standing in a suit, in front of a huge EBWF logo, with a microphone in his hand.

Matt Striker: Ladies and Gentlemen, with me at this time...Kurt Angle.

A huge array of boos as the camera zooms out to reveal Kurt Angle standing beside Striker, wearing his wrestling gear.

Matt Striker: So Kurt, You’ve not been in EBWF too long, and yet you’ve already got an opportunity to gain your first championship in this company – the path to glory title.

Kurt Angle: Well, it can’t be too much of a surprise to anybody that’s ever seen me compete in the ring. I can’t be out-smarted and I certainly can’t be out-wrestled. I’m no stranger to gold, I’m an Olympic gold medallist, and I’m a multi-time world champion. I’ve held more championships than you can dream of Matt. I know how to win championships, and more importantly I know how to keep them. I’m a born champion, and tonight you will see why. It’s fitting that this title is called the ‘Path to Glory’ championship, because that is exactly where I'm heading. This is simply the first stepping stone.
You know, a lot of people call life a bit of a marathon, well my climb to the top is going to be a sprint. Plain and simple. Nobody is going to halt this wrestling machine, especially not some young punk kid like Dibiase.

Matt Striker: Now, like you said Ted Dibiase is your opponent this evening, many would argue a tough opponent, how do you plan to defeat the talented young man?

Kurt Angle: He’s talented, I’ll give you that, and some will argue that his youth is an advantage. But along with youth is naivety and that will ultimately cost Dibiase his precious title. Wrestling is in my blood, in fact - it IS my blood. And I’m going to show the EBWF that those claims I made in my first appearance here are true. I’m here to revive this dead company; I’m here to carry it out through the ashes. I’m going to put respect and quality back into the wrestling business. Because only I can. With so-called men like Ted Dibiase and AJ Styles carrying championships, where can this business really go?
It needs a name that demands a respect, it needs a champion, no – a leader, that can direct it to glory once more. Like I keep saying, it’s not about the money, it’s not about the fame, it’s about my love for wrestling. I can’t see it get spat in the face each week by these paper champions, and I am sick of seeing these fake fans buy into all of their rubbish. It’s time I show them a real champion, someone they can really look up to.

I know you’re watching this Ted, and you probably don’t want to admit that I’m right. But when you’re lacing up your boots for our match tonight, and placing the championship around your waste, don’t get too attached to the feeling, because tonight it’s coming home with me. Oh it’s true, it’s damn true!

Kurt glares into the camera with a very serious look on his face, as the attention turns back to the ring for the next upcoming match.
