ST LOUIS - Former TNA Wrestler Jesse Sorensen faced the Honorable Robert S. Cohen, St. Louis County Circuit Court Judge yesterday, after two previous continuances. Sorensen had been scheduled for arraignment on Thursday, April 10 and then again on Tuesday, April 15. Both times Sorensen was granted a continuance on the basis of trying to hire a competent legal team.
Those lawyers seemed to be in place yesterday when the court read the charges against Sorensen. The 29-year old, Florida resident is charged with the first degree rape, kidnapping, assault, battery, and the attempted murder of his former fiancee, 32-year old, Danielle Costa. Costa has worked for St. Louis based EBWF for six years, and is the lead photographer in their graphics department. She is also a world renowned fashion photographer. She had done work for for many of America’s top selling magazines, including the much acclaimed April 2014 cover of Cosmopolitan featuring Khloe Kardashian.
Sorensen entered a not guilty plea to all of the charges, and was denied bail. His attorneys are expected to request a change in venue, reportedly hoping to move the impending trial to Orlando, Florida in order to avoid what they deem a “media circus”. Danielle Costa is married to EBWF Superstar, John Cena, and according to the St. Louis Police Department “high profile” St. Louis residents are expected to testify.
Neither Costa or Cena were in attendance at the arraignment, both were sighted at Jennings High School, where the Jennings Baseball Warriors lost to Blaine Ikeda and the Ladue Rams in a 4-0 shut out victory.
