Sami Zayn vs. Damien Sandow

Moments later, all the questions surrounding the hacking episode ended. As Zayn celebrated in the ring he fell victim to a vicious attack from new EBWF Superstar, Solomon Crowe. Crowe used a tablet to control the lights and put himself in an advantageous position whilst also using his metal-handle walking stick to dismantle Sami Zayn as he screamed in pain at every hit. After pressing on the tablet a few more times, the lights switched off leaving Solomon Crowe free to leave, which he did. As the cameras were backstage, the arena staff were busy setting up the ring for the Cutting Edge segment but at the same time, medics brought a stretcher down to the ring; rolling a weak Sami Zayn out of the ring and straight on to the stretcher as fans applauded him and continued to boo Solomon Crowe who ensured he overshadowed Zayn’s celebrations of becoming the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
The medics continued to talk to Zayn as they started to check up on him, wincing in pain every time they touched his abdomen and neck. Fans then stood up as Zayn gave them a big thumbs up whilst laying down on the stretcher and being pushed up the ramp, unable to move his neck to look around at the fans who appreciated his effort out in the ring tonight. As the medical team and Sami Zayn rolled through the curtains, he was still being gently pushed on the stretcher until they reached an ambulance, the doors swung open as they helped Zayn inside the ambulance before driving off to a local hospital for a more in-depth check-up as a precaution, ending Sami Zayn’s victorious night on a sour note.

It’s now Tuesday 20 September 2014, two night past the eventful Destiny pay-per-view where John Cena defeated CM Punk to retain his EBWF World Championship and Sami Zayn became the number one contender to the Intercontinental Championship, only to be viciously taken out by EBWF newcomer, Solomon Crowe. The scene opens up at the EBWF Headquarters where Michael Cole is seen mic’ing up for an interview – but not with Sami Zayn. He will be taking part in a live interview via satellite with the Director of EBWF Medical and Training Staff, Dr. Hope Clemente who has been keeping a close eye on Sami Zayn with the interview due to appear on the EBWF website a little later in the day to keep the fans up to date on Zayn’s condition.
MICHAEL COLE
Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Michael Cole and I’m here at the EBWF Headquarters where joining me at this time, live from a medical facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Dr. Hope Clemente, Doctor thank you for taking time out of your schedule to join me.
DR. HOPE CLEMENTE
Not a problem Michael, thank you for having me.
MICHAEL COLE
Now obviously you know why you’re still over in Minnesota, it’s because you decided to stay back and look over Sami Zayn after what occurred in the fall-out of his impressive victory over Chris Sabin and Ted DiBiase on Sunday, can you update us on his condition?
DR. HOPE CLEMENTE
He’s recovering well, as you said it was an unfortunate incident which I hear the EBWF are looking into but the good news is that it’s not too serious that he’ll be out for countless months. His ribs are severely bruised and I’d advise Sami and the booking team to allow him to rest for at least the next three to six weeks so he can recover and then ease his way back into action.
MICHAEL COLE
Well, as things stand Sami Zayn has been booked into a match on the upcoming Warfare card, in fact he’s scheduled to compete in his first ever main event contest here in the EBWF against the Breakout Champion, Damien Sandow.
DR HOPE CLEMENTE
Well that’s what we’ll be trying to avoid, we all know Damien Sandow is a tough customer inside that ring, he does cause damage and we cannot risk Sami’s health for the sake of a match, if it was a dark match or taking part in a try out match I would probably need a lot of convincing to let him compete but Damien Sandow, not at all that’s not in his best interests.
MICHAEL COLE
Well we all do appreciate your expert insight on this matter and of course, Sami’s health is of utmost importance and we all hope he is back on his feet and become that lively, enthusiastic Sami Zayn the locker room is used to seeing every single week. However, at the end of the day the booking team need confirmation from Sami Zayn himself that he cannot compete, and as you said Sami cannot talk right now, so in my scheduled interview with him tomorrow I hope to have an answer direct from Sami Zayn as to whether he can compete, until then we believe he will be in the main event.
DR. HOPE CLEMENTE
Well for now I understand he is booked, but I know Sami Zayn and I know he’s a competitor, but I know he’s sensible also, I can tell you he won’t be in Milwaukee next Monday to compete, for his own health.
MICHAEL COLE
Thank you for your time Doctor and we hope to see Sami back in action as soon as possible.
The scene fades to black as we now wait for Sami Zayn’s answer on whether he will give himself the all-clear to compete next week.

The following day, we’re at the same scene with Michael Cole clipping on his microphone on to his shirt and fiddling with his earpiece as Sami Zayn emerges on to the screen via satellite, still in his hospital gown as Cole is ready to talk to him.
MICHAEL COLE
Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time all the way from Minneapolis, Minnesota…Sami Zayn. Sami, fantastic to see you and of course I need to touch on the attack and how you are feeling. There has been talk you already know Solomon Crowe; what else can you tell us?
SAMI ZAYN
Great to see you Michael, well I am not 100% but I am feeling a lot better than I did on Sunday so that is a big positive. Solomon Crowe…that’s the last thing I expected to see on Sunday but I guess it all makes sense. He isn’t someone who plays by the rules, he will get into your brain like nobody else can so yes, I know him, unfortunately. That’s all I have to say about him, I’m happy I am the number one contender to the Intercontinental Championship and I get another chance so whatever he decides to do, attack me or fifteen other guys – because trust me he won’t stop at me – I don’t care what he does because he just cannot stop me from becoming Intercontinental Championship.
MICHAEL COLE
Just before we move on, for the fans that probably haven’t ever seen or heard of Solomon Crowe, quite simply; how would you describe him to the fans so they get a better idea of who or what he is for a true competitor such as yourself.
SAMI ZAYN
…Dangerous.
MICHAEL COLE
Moving on to Monday; you are scheduled to compete but doctors have advised you not to compete, and in fact it’s your first ever main event bout in the form of Breakout Champion, Damien Sandow. Your thoughts?
SAMI ZAYN
Yeah I did hear about that main event slot, a huge honour to get a chance to close the show and I do hope it’s the first of many. Of course, as you can see it’s not the most ideal of situations to be in when you’re given a massive honour just days after becoming the number one contender to the Intercontinental Championship again. So yes, I believe I will be at Milwaukee on Monday to compete in that main event bout.
MICHAEL COLE
You’re up against a very tough star in Damien Sandow, who defeated nine other men who tried to take his championship from him, knowing Damien he probably will rule you out but what do you make of your chances.
SAMI ZAYN
Damien Sandow did pick up an impressive win; what I have to say to him…this place isn’t the place or the time to do it. I’ll be at Milwaukee on Monday, inside that Warfare ring calling out Damien Sandow; a 30% Sami Zayn could defeat Damien Sandow so I d hope he brings his best even if I am injured.
Cameras saw Sami Zayn take his microphone off and stood up, walking away giving a clear indication that he will be at Milwaukee to take on Damien Sandow in the main event where he will call out the Breakout Champion to bring his best inside the ring.

It’s now Monday 6 October 2014 and we’re at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Monday Night Warfare is taking place and it’s a special night as the Path To Glory Championship tournament begins after CM Punk cashed in his opportunity – and failed – against John Cena. As the tournament in the evening came to a conclusion, it was almost time for the main event and fans erupted in cheers as they heard World’s Apart blast the PA System where Sami Zayn danced his way on to the stage with his ribs still taped up as a precaution. He looked upbeat as he ran down the ramp, slapping the hands of fans who were happy to see him again. He ran up the steep steps and pumped up the fans as his music continued to play, he asked for a microphone which he received imminently; clapping along to his music as cameras caught shots of fans dancing along to his music. Eventually his music faded out and he was able to speak over the incredibly loud ‘Ole’ chants spreading across the arena quickly.
SAMI ZAYN
What a reaction from the Milwaukee fans tonight! Still haven’t healed up but there was no way in hell I was letting anyone else take my hard earned spot in the main event, and I certainly won’t be the guy who didn’t turn up to his first main event especially when you’re up against the uber-intelligent Damien Sandow; our Breakout Champion. He probably wouldn’t be my first choice either but we have to learn to adapt and I sure as hell can change up my style to defeat him tonight, I’m not even worried about that. I mean, after tonight I’ve taken on both members of Brains & Brawn, and I’ve already defeated the man carrying this team in the Brawn, Daniel Rodimer. So now only the brainbox is remaining, Damien Sandow.
Hey, I’ll be the first to admit I underestimated him at Destiny, nine other men trying to take his gold; no small feat so he did good there, congratulations to him. But I don’t think Sandow has stepped inside an EBWF ring against somebody like me, and tonight he’ll realise that he needs to start holding that Breakout Championship a little closer because if I can expose him; then the guys who have kicked my ass all over this arena sure as hell can take his gold in an instant.
All I ask, is one thing. Make this a fair fight, keep that jacked-up Action Man backstage and let’s make my first main event a memorable one, for me anyway. Look, I like you Damien, really you do make me laugh whenever I am backstage with all your antics but worried? Not one bit, not at all. You have gold around your waist, fantastic; you’re an official EBWF Champion but you need to be the wary one, stepping inside the ring with YOUR future Intercontinental Champion and you need to be thankful they didn’t force you to defend your gold tonight either, I’m sure the length of time you’ve been Breakout Champion you’ll need a long and tearful goodbye.
A Breakout Champion, no; THE Breakout Champion. Very impressive, I remember when I started out here I couldn’t even get a shot at you or your gold when I lost in the battle royal to Tyler Breeze. I thought to myself, ‘man one day I will compete for that championship, one day I’ll be in the ring with Damien Sandow and show him and the rest of the roster I am here to stay’. Well, here I am Damien. I’m in the main event against Damien Sandow and it looks like I’ve kind of leapfrogged you and everything you’ve achieved, competing for the Intercontinental Championship while you’re STILL here, still attempting to literally break out and do something to make us all think wow, but time is running out and it’s probably the muscle mass of Daniel Rodimer weighing you and your career down.
I’m a seasoned competitor, I’ve competed everywhere against everyone – and yes that does include Solomon Crowe – and it also includes Daniel Rodimer, so while he’s rubbing your back while you listen to me, you just ask him what happens when you don’t bring you’re A game, and yeah this is a 30% Sami Zayn telling you to bring me your best because if you don’t these people will laugh at you more than they already than they do, that you couldn’t defeat a week troll-looking Sami Zayn. But, I do have an alternative. A brilliant alternative in fact, which is in your favour and you probably won’t get embarrassed either.
Sami Zayn hopped out of the ring and looked under the apron, pulling out a big black back which he pushed inside of the ring as fans were eager to see what he wanted to show them. He leaned down and opened the bag and laughed to himself before speaking.
SAMI ZAYN
You’re the one who look like a 30-year-old Santa Claus yet I’m the one bearing gifts. Anyway, what have I brought to Warfare? Alternatives for Damien Sandow; the first. Let me reiterate, these are all in your favour, they’re not rigged, they’re all in your favour as a wrestling match will always be in my favour. We have….Sudoku; I really have no idea what the hell you’re supposed to do with all of these numbers, it’s still empty so I was thinking instead of the Warfare main event being Sami Zayn vs. Damien Sandow in a wrestling match, we have a main event between Sami Zayn and Damien Sandow where the winner is determined by who can finish the Sudoku puzzle the quickest? No? I don’t think the fans want to see that, but this they definitely will. Another game where you will definitely kick my ass…Chess; okay now I am worried, my first main event and I could be embarrassed by Damien Sandow in my first chess main event? Actually no we’re not doing this one this isn’t fair. Well, I mean I bought a mountain of board games if you want to sit down in this ring, I was always bad at Cluedo, never finished a game so perhaps you can use your intelligence to find the killer without moving a piece on the board. Perhaps you’ll be able to do something remarkable and do something I probably cannot do, and connect four? I also have a Latin dictionary where you can use your superior intelligence to tell me how you say I’ll kick your ass in Latin.
You see Damien, all of this, this is where your so-called intelligence matters. Sure, you can compete. But you’re not on my level and these fans agree with me, these silly board games is where your intelligence matters. We all know there’s a reason you’re hanging with Daniel Rodimer because he is a pretty tough dude, but he’s dumber than a bag of rocks and you need that in your control so you feel smart, the reality is that you’re no different from me. I think I edge you in the beard department and of course my skill is on a level you will never be able to reach and tonight I’ll show that you. Usually I think there’d be shame in losing to me because I know you all envy me backstage and I can live with that, but tonight I assure you there is no shame in losing to me even though I’m not fully fit; I am still somebody who leapfrogged your EBWF career who has another chance at becoming Intercontinental Champion. Tonight I’ll prove a victory over you means I can take your gold just like that, a very lucky escape for you tonight.
