Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler
Posted: Sun Oct 12, 2014 9:22 am
Sami Zayn stayed inside the ring as some fans started to leave the arena whilst the others decided to stay inside until the very last minute. With thousands of fans still in their seats, taking pictures of the set as well as Sami Zayn; he surprised the fans in attendance by jumping to the outside of the ring and picking up a microphone before going back into the ring by jumping on to the steel steps and then climbing through the second rope. He hit the top of the microphone to see if it was still working – which it was – and then started to speak, stopping some fans in their tracks before leaving the BMO Bradley Harris Center.
SAMI ZAYN
A fantastic turnout here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin tonight. What a night it was too, some fantastic Path to Glory Championship tournament matches which will carry on to next week, but tonight was probably my greatest night in the EBWF because I got the opportunity to main event my first ever match in this business and I’ve already got the main event bug, as soon as I realised I will be one to close out the show I thought ‘I need this feeling every single week’; this is why certain guys like your John Cena’s and your Randy Orton are so good, because they can handle the pressure of being the go-to-guys in the main event, Cena as champion knows the responsibility of closing a show and I know CM Punk wants that every single week; and deserves it as well for that matter. I know this was my first; and I hope you enjoyed the performance and I know this isn’t the last time you people will see Sami Zayn compete in the main event because week after week, match after match, victory after victory I am climbing up that latter in the EBWF and very, very soon I will be standing here in this very spot, in this very ring saying thank you for sticking by me, because those spotlights that are on top of us, high above this ring that are blinding you, will be shining off of the big, gold plate on my Intercontinental Championship.
Milwaukee, you were a great crowd tonight and I see some familiar faces that aren’t from here, they travel the Country to see us guys perform so I will see you guys next week, that’s for sure. As for the Intercontinental Championship I know it won’t be easy, not only because Syxx kicked my ass but because I know there’s probably another threat hovering over my head right now, and because you guys were a great crowd tonight and because I am feeling very confident; I feel it’s only right that we have some more action, exclusive to the Milwaukee fans. He knows I’m talking about him, and I’m waiting; you attacked me from behind already so come and do it when I am facing you, Solomon Crowe.
Sami dropped the microphone after calling out Solomon Crowe; a superstar who has only been seen once on live television so he can confront him, only for the eyes of the fans that stuck around the BMO Bradley Harris Center. After waiting around for around thirty seconds, the fans started to chant Ole as it quickly spread across the arena; Sami smiled to himself and laughed before kneeling down to pick up the microphone he dropped.
SAMI ZAYN
Well, I knew he was a coward but this is a whole new level of coward I guess; thank you Milwaukee and I’ll see you all next week.
Before Sami Zayn could leave, everyone’s attention turned towards the titan-tron, a black screen which they failed to notice earlier with the word ‘too soon’ in white placed on the screen. Zayn leaned on the ropes and looked at his imaginary watch on his left wrist, before his music started to play once more; but Zayn knew Solomon Crowe is around, and he is watching even though he may not be there in the arena, or there in person. Zayn hopped out of the ring and signed a few autographs for fans who raced to the front of the barricades and posed for some pictures with Sami as he tried to then make a swift exit. He reached the top of the stage and turned around once more and continued to applaud the fans as his music then eventually faded out as fans began to quickly exit the arena.
Backstage, Sami Zayn was walking with a towel over the back of his neck, wiping away the sweat but still soaking in the feeling of being in the main event in the EBWF. He continued to walk backstage, picking up a bottle of water from the table and drinking half of it in one big gulp before sitting down on one of the seats to catch his breath. After a few moments, he stood back up and continued to walk in the direction of the locker room, before being stopped by Shane McMahon who started to talk to him.
SHANE MCMAHON
Well then, usually you’ve already showered, got changed and left the arena by this time. All jokes aside, a great match out there between you and Damien and it looks like you handled that pressure pretty well, a natural some might say.
SAMI ZAYN
I’d agree with you there Shane, this, this is what I was made for. This is why I compete, main event matches where all eyes are on you and you make the fans go wild; so yeah thank you for the opportunity and I hope I impressed you and the rest of the bookers and you won’t overlook me for future main events.
SHANE MCMAHON
Look, you won one main event, so congratulations and everyone knows you have a bright future ahead of you if you keep your feet on the ground, so already it’s great to see you’re not doing somersaults and wanting championships, it’s good, you know you have to earn those types of matches. There are a lot of hungry guys at the back, some who do deserve that main event spot more than you do, but I appreciate your heart for this; so…it looks like you’ll have another late finish next week on Warfare, I’m putting you in another main event.
SAMI ZAYN
That’s awesome to hear Shane, thank you and trust me, you will not regret this decision, not one but. Who did you have in mind?
SHANE MCMAHON
Just to get that idea out of your head which you may or may not have to be honest, you can forget facing the Cena’s, the Orton’s and the Punk’s like you said out there, those matches, the elite matches will come in time when every single fan out there has warmed to you because we both know you have your doubters. Saying that I can’t let you take on somebody not ready for that spot just yet. So, I have a few names in my mind; all of which are ahead of you right now so it won’t be easy, not one bit. Whoever it is, I believe you haven’t taken them on just yet so you’ll need to sit down with him and discuss the match because you both will need to make sure the fans leave the arena with your names on their lips, the last thing they think of before they go to bed, they need to be discussing it on forums like Reddit the next day and making them want you guys more and more; you’re in the big leagues now Sami. Go take your shower and swing by my office before you leave the arena and the match card for next week should be on the door.
SAMI ZAYN
Sounds good to me, and again – I won’t let any of you down.
Shane and Sami shook hands as Sami opened his locker room door to walk in and Shane walked away.
Moments later, Sami emerged from his locker room once more, feeling fresh after the win, his shower and a fresh change of clothes. He closed the locker room door and pulled his suitcase behind him as he looked for Shane McMahon’s office; he leaned forward in one of the corridor’s and saw a piece of paper stuck on the office door, he quickly jogged to the door and saw that it was in fact that match card for Warfare next week in Portland. He put his finger at the top, intrigued to see which other matches will take place on the night, being a huge wrestling fan. He smiled at the matches before stopping at the final one, stopping his index finger on his right hand on his name and tapping it twice, moving it slightly to the right and reading a name he actually never has faced off against before but would be a fantastic match anyway; Dolph Ziggler.
He smiled to himself as this is the kind of person he wanted to be up against as they both knew that the other were great workers in the ring. He went back to his suitcase and grabbed the handle, dragging it behind him as the wheels clanked before heading into the parking lot, into his rental car and advancing to the next destination for media duties before his big main event match next week on Warfare, against Dolph Ziggler.

It’s Wednesday 8 October 2014, and Sami Zayn is at a local event to promote Monday Night Warfare along with other EBWF Superstars and Divas. After signing autographs and taking pictures and generally talking to the fans who paid good money to see them, Sami is whisked office to a radio studio for an interview; promoting the Monday Night Warfare main event with Dolph Ziggler.
RADIO HOST
Welcome back to the show, I hope you’re all enjoying this wonderful event which has been put together by the local fans of this arena, and guys look who we managed to tranquilise and bring into our studio against his own will; Sami Zayn! Sami, welcome to the show; now man we gotta talk ‘bout your win a couple of nights ago against Damien Sandow, a great match and I’m a big fan; how did it feel to pick up that win?
SAMI ZAYN
Well it’s great to be here, and it’s incredible. Simply incredible y’know this is what you work for in the tough wrestling industry, and we need to look ahead, I defeated Damien Sandow, a great match, I feel good but I know it only gets tougher and tougher from here.
RADIO HOST
Tougher and tougher indeed, Monday Night Warfare next week, live at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, Sami Zayn is in his second successive main event where you take on the show-off, Dolph Ziggler. Excited?
SAMI ZAYN
Ha-ha yes the show-off. It’s good that Dolph is the kind of opponent I am getting now, I feel like this is where I belong, and he’s a huge name in the business, y’know a Royal Rumble winner here and in the WWE a two-time World Champion so this isn’t an easy task at all. But c’mon who likes an easy task? Where’s the reward in that? There’s a reason I am the number one contender to the Intercontinental Championship and it’s not because my name was picked out of a hat, it’s because I worked to get to that stage and I will continue working. Hard work has resulted in me competing in 30 or so countries, it’s resulted in me getting championship matches, it’s why I am on my way to the top and there’s no way I plan on stopping any time soon and Dolph Ziggler will do his utmost best to make sure he embarrasses me, he embarrasses the number one contender to the Intercontinental Championship because he will want to make me look like a joke, someone not worthy of holding the gold because somebody like he does. And I agree, Dolph Ziggler should be a champion because from what I have seen, he is just that good. Can he be World Champion? Of course he can, it’s a shame that John Cena has no plans of calling it a day because he just looks like he can’t lose right now, but we hear it every single week. Fans want Dolph Ziggler, and as a wrestling fan, I want Dolph Ziggler as a champion because what the fans want, that’s what matters the most. However, as an EBWF superstar, it’s in my DNA to not like Dolph and think he’s not worthy of being in the ring with me. So it’s funny, really I am praising Dolph but once Monday Night Warfare goes on air, we need to act like we want nothing more than to embarrass, and defeat the other.
RADIO HOST
Okay, interesting. So let’s break it down here. I am talking to…Rami Sebei; what does Rami Sebei think of Dolph Ziggler.
SAMI ZAYN
So the tights and the boots are off and I am simply a spectator, every week watching a man of Dolph Ziggler’s talents, what do I think? I’d be pretty jealous and sympathetic if I am quite honest. Jealous because this is what people believe a man should be like, a man women want us all to be like, the looks, the charisma, his athleticism, he has it all going for him and he should be at the top of the tree based on his ability to compete inside the ring; so that’s why I sympathise with him because there are people holding him back, no not AJ Lee ha-ha; but guys at the top who are holding up spots someone like he deserves to be in. And this isn’t me trying to get into Dolph’s head as I am sure the last thing he will ever do is listen to this interview, no offence, but it’s the simple truth and that is what Rami Sebei believes to be the case.
RADIO HOST
Let’s put those boots back on then, what does Sami Zayn think about Dolph Ziggler?
SAMI ZAYN
The EBWF should release him from his contract, no I’m kidding. Sami Zayn believes Dolph Ziggler…shouldn’t underestimate Sami Zayn. People have done it before and they’ve paid the price for doing so and I know just how many people love Dolph Ziggler, and those same fans love me I hope; so I’d hate to prove them wrong. Don’t underestimate me because I know the talent he possesses, he’s quite similar to me except I like to think I’m a little bit more good-looking but I’m sure most would disagree. I think I can defeat Dolph Ziggler, no actually I know I can defeat Dolph Ziggler because he’s probably not ever faced anyone like me- ever. He’ll be in for quite a surprise when the bell does ring because I don’t talk as much as other guys, I don’t have the theatrics to get inside his head, all I have is the knowledge and the determination and the will to succeed and you know what; as this interview has progressed I’ve become more and more confident that I can get past Dolph Ziggler; now I am not saying it will be easy, not at all. I am saying it will result in a new Sami Zayn coming out, a Sami Zayn fans haven’t seen yet, because I think I need to defeat Dolph Ziggler more than he needs to defeat me, I am the one who has a lot to prove, I am the nearly-man right? Something people refer to me as because when it comes to crunch time, I just cannot do it. I failed against Syxx, I let my guard down and let Solomon Crowe play me like a puppet and Dolph expects more of the same to happen. Nope. Not on Monday, Monday will be a different story where Dolph Ziggler is left lying on the mat, looking up and thinking ‘what the hell just happened?’ I’m a Dolph Ziggler fan, a supporter, a well-wisher, but most of all I am an EBWF Superstar who needs to take out Dolph Ziggler if I am to ever make it to being the number one guy in the company, the guy I know I can become. So go ahead, continue to underestimate me, criticise my looks which most guys tend to do, tell me I am small, how I am generic, how I have never been good enough in any promotion I’ve competed in, and then tell me the exact same once I’ve kicked your skull into next week and we’ll see who is the one laughing then. As good as you are Dolph, as talented as you are; there won’t be much showing off on Monday, not when AJ Lee is busy holding your jaw in place when you’re walking up the ramp and telling the cameras to not look at your face. I for one just cannot wait to see you show off the damage I can cause.
RADIO HOST
Some strong words there from Sami Zayn, EBWF Superstar and you can watch his highly anticipated bout with Dolph Ziggler next week only on Monday Night Warfare; we’ll see you guys after a short break with another guest.
Sami Zayn took off his headset before shaking the hands of the host and other guests in the studio before leaving, finishing up the day’s media work and leaving to work out and prepare for his match alongside Dolph Ziggler on Monday.

It’s Monday 13 October 2014, live at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon where Monday Night Warfare is emanating from. The Path to Glory Championship tournament continued whilst Nikki Bella was also in action against Eva Marie; it was up to Dolph Ziggler and Sami Zayn to close the show this week. As the evening rolled on the cameras went backstage where Renee Young was standing alongside the guest, Sami Zayn.
RENEE YOUNG
Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time is the number one contender to the Intercontinental Championship…Sami Zayn. Now Sami, all week people have been saying that this match tonight against Dolph Ziggler in the main event is your toughest test to date here in the EBWF since you arrived, do you agree?
SAMI ZAYN
Hi Renee, well I have been in the ring with some tough competitors that’s for sure, legends like The Undertaker, animals like…well The Animal, Batista. And guys I’ve underestimated…in Syxx. I’ve learned from that mistake and I know not to underestimate anybody, so technically right now in my mind-set, Dolph Ziggler is the toughest guy I have ever been in the ring with, this could be my last match, it could be the easiest match, or it could be the greatest wrestling match of all time; who knows? But what I do know is that this is our first meeting, not only inside a ring, but this will be our first meeting face to face and one of us will be leaving the lasting impression. The only disadvantage I have is that there is nobody in my corner whereas he has AJ Lee who I know will decide to interfere to help out her darling Dolph. But I’ve never needed anybody in my corner and quite frankly, I never will Renee. Tonight is my toughest task, and I’m going into that ring, in the main event to do what I do best. Now it’s up to Dolph to bring his best to that ring, because I’m not going to go easy on him, and if he is embarrassed, he leaves the arena embarrassed and I can’t do anything but tell him, I told you so; everyone has underestimated me in the past, so please; do the same.
RENEE YOUNG
As you mentioned, this is the first ever meeting, not only inside the ring, but you two have never met; does that bring up any nerves at all?
SAMI ZAYN
Good nerves I think, Dolph is a good guy I believe but I can’t let me being a fan overpower the desire to win. I am nervous because Dolph is a huge name in wrestling, imagine what that would do for me? Sami Zayn! We hear nothing, there are crickets. But when you hear Dolph Ziggler! Perhaps eighty thousand fans would cheer, imagine that; beating Dolph Ziggler and opening up more eyes? I’m looking forward to this match Renee, nerves won’t get the better of me this time round; and it may be the first ever meeting, but a funny feeling tells me this definitely…definitely won’t be the last we see of each other.
RENEE YOUNG
Thank you for stopping and talking to us Sami, good luck in your match tonight.
SAMI ZAYN
Thank you, Renee and I hope you enjoy it as well.
Sami walked off the set as Renee looked into the camera as it faded out and back into the ring where the next match is set to take place.
As the show progressed towards the closing stages, World’s Apart blast the PA system as fans got up out of their seats and begin to hum and clap along to Sami Zayn’s music, just as he emerged on to the stage with a big smile on his face. He was as lively as ever as he quickly jogged down the ramp and up the steel steps, pumping up the crowd as they cheered him on before getting into the ring and taking a microphone. As he circled the ring, looking at all of the fans chanting his name whilst the other chanting ‘Ole!’; smiled to himself and looked down, tapping the microphone on his leg and his other hand slapping his thigh along with his music. Eventually the music did stop, but the Ole chants didn’t as he was forced to talk over the noise.
SAMI ZAYN
A very lively crowd in Portland, good…it sounds to me like you’re ready for your main event, am I right? Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler, the first time ever and you Portland fans are very lucky that you get to see this match because it’s never happened before. You’re fortunate because unlike some of the superstars in this industry, myself and Dolph know…how to wrestle. So trust me when I say this, you will get your money’s worth tonight because I’m feeling pretty confident tonight, about beating Dolph Ziggler and I already know that Dolph is confident, as he always is which is great because I’d hate not to be the underdog for once. It’s when I perform better; now all week people have been telling me that Dolph Ziggler is better, and in some cases I agree, he’s better looking, he’s better at getting the women, he’s got more charisma, the better less-hairy body, but most of all, he has the…spirit.
Fans then cheered as Sami smiled to himself, the fans knew what Sami was talking about mentioning the spirit and there was no way he was going to leave this out.
SAMI ZAYN
I know, Dolph you’re probably sat back there and you’ll be yawning because you might have heard this over and over and over again but c’mon dude, you have got to let me have this one because I’ve never got to talk about it, not in front of thousands and thousands of fans anyway, come one…it’s for the people right? Dolph in just a moment you’ll strut your stuff down that ramp with AJ Lee by your side, and that’s good, she’s a very beautiful woman but AJ is the last person you’ll need to help you back up the ramp. You’ll need Kenny! You’ll need Johnny! You’ll need Mitch and Mikey! The one thing you have more than I do is spirit and my word, don’t we all know it. I mean how does a former male-cheerleader even manage to secure a women like AJ Lee? Surely that’s the jock’s role, right? I mean I was neither, I’d be a terrible joke and I don’t plan on waving around pom-poms any time soon either but that’s where I’m in the driving seat Dolph. You see for years people have been calling me…generic. That’s fine by me, I look like a boring person and I may act like it because I’m not in your exclusive VIP clubs every single night but that’s how I like it, I don’t mind being a generic wrestler but at least I didn’t have to go and be something I wasn’t. I took off that mask and looked in the mirror and the only thing that changed was that these people could see the face of the superstar that has made crowds go wild, leave the arena in awe in countless countries. THAT is what I am about, I don’t need to join a male-cheerleading group to get where I am, but I still take inspiration from you, surprisingly. Every promotion I’ve been in, including the EBWF and I think to myself how on earth will I be able to become World Champion? I think to myself, hey if Nicky can become a World Champion, what the hell is stopping me from achieving my dream? I know, you look down on me like I am a piece of gums tuck to the sole of your boot but let me tell you I’ll be the most annoying piece of gum on your boot, I’ll never get off, I’ll stick on to it as a reminder to you that whatever happens in this ring tonight, I’ll still be here. I’ll still be the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship but most of all, I will still be better than you in the one department that matters. Wrestling inside this ring.
Fans cheered and chanted Sami Zayn’s name as he grew more and more comfortable and ready for his match with someone he knew would be a tough customer in Dolph Ziggler. He wiped his mouth with the tape on his wrist and breathed out heavily, before speaking again.
SAMI ZAYN
These fans want to see a great match, let’s give it to them so I urge you, don’t take an easy way out. Kick me in my head, punch me in my gut and Zig as many Zags as you want because I will still be standing here and looking you in the eye, bleeding and sweating and telling you to bring it that little bit more. You’ve achieved a hell of a lot more than I could hope for in the EBWF, I might have lost out on a championship already, but within a month you became the winner of the Royal Rumble; 29 other men, 29! That’s a really big number if you can count that far but I can assure you I am nothing like those 29 men you faced, I’m not showing off and I am not arrogant, what I have is self-belief and the desire to be the greatest competitor this business has ever seen, I am simply the greatest wrestler you will ever go up against in the EBWF, I’m like nothing you’ve seen before. I just feel like the two of us here, we could be in almost the same boat – you want the World Championship and I want the World Championship. I KNOW you can be World Champion and deep down I know that you know I can be World Champion but you will never, ever admit that I can be the man that carries the company. I think it’s just a matter of time as to which one of us, two of the best in the business; can get to John Cena first and dethrone him.
What, what did the song go like in the WWE? “I’m here to show the wold, I’m here to show the world…” Then I stopped listening but please, come down to this ring and show me the best Dolph Ziggler, the Dolph Ziggler I am a fan of because in our first meeting the ONLY thing I want is for the record books many years from now to say the first ever meeting between Dolph Ziggler and Sami Zayn – two of the greatest wrestlers the world has seen – resulted in a victory for Sami Zayn. Now it’s all up to me to make sure I do what I’ve been planning all week long, kick you in the skull; and pick up that all important one, two, and three. And who knows? Maybe after the first win and IF I eventually become Intercontinental Champion; I might want Dolph Ziggler inside the ring again for another instant classic. You'll agree with me on this one Dolph. five years ago every single corporate suit not only in the EBWF but any wrestling promotion would have looked at the two of us and laughed if we said we would main event a flagship show like Warfare, look where we've come and the opportunities are endless. I want the best of the best and I honestly believe Dolph Ziggler; YOU are one of them, so show me tonight. Show the world tonight just how bad you want to kick my ass because I know the fans at the front can feel my vibe, the vibe that I want nothing more than to leave this ring in a short while as the victor, looking down in that ring, into your eyes…and not telling you that I am better than you because tonight will prove that itself, I’ll look down that ring and we will BOTH acknowledge the fact that we both left it all in the ring for the fans and even though the better man won on the night, that this will be far from over.
Sami Zayn dropped the microphone to the outside as he continued to pump up and shout at the fans to get them excited as loud Ole chants broke out again, with just seconds left until Dolph Ziggler made his way out for the main event of Warfare, against Sami Zayn is a highly anticipated clash after some strong and passionate words from Sami Zayn who wants the best Ziggler he and the EBWF Universe has ever seen.[/center]
