Saturday 11th January 2015 – EBWF Performance Center

The scene opened up with the sound of a busy gym, with many superstars and divas utilising the state-of-the-art equipment installed in the Performance Center. Some continuing the hard work and dedication they put in on a daily basis throughout the year whilst some are working extra hard to drop those additional pounds they gained over the holiday period. Another event which took place during the festive season was the annual Christmas Eve of Destruction pay-per-view where Sami Zayn retained his Intercontinental Championship against the former Champion, Syxx in what was Sami’s first title defence since dethroning Syxx and he did it in a hellacious environment with an electrified cage surrounding the duo. But as per usual Sami wasn’t going to let any injuries hold him down, as the Intercontinental Champion he had a job to do and he was back at it, putting in the hard work as in just over two days he would be taking on the Breakout Champion in Stardust. On paper it was a match which would entertain the fans as both Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn worked fantastically well inside the ring. But for Sami it meant a little more, having lost to Stardust the first time out a number of weeks ago, Stardust proved he was the better champion but now Sami had the chance to right that wrong and prove he was the better man.

After the whole center had cleared out, Sami was still sitting in the corner of the ring, slouched into the corner with his legs stretched out in front of him. His head was leaning back on the second turnbuckle and then looking on to the mat where his Intercontinental Championship was resting and then began talking to himself.

SAMI ZAYN
That’s one title defence down, who knows how many more title defences I have left in me. When I captured this championship I thought it’d be the greatest thing that would ever happen to me. What am I saying, of course I’m happy to be Intercontinental Champion but do I deserve it? I’ve beaten Syxx twice now so I guess I do and he was a great champion but now on Warfare I’m up against Stardust…again. He’s already beaten me as Breakout Champion and now everyone already assumes that…that creep is better than me. I guess it’s my own fault, overconfidence and silly mistakes and allowing his crazy attitude to get inside my head and in an instant it was over, just like that. But...I’ve lost a hell of a lot of matches since I started out here and I’ve came back from them to capture this gold. I guess I just have to go to Denver and do what I do best, especially with the Royal Rumble at the end of the month. I mean, if Stardust beats me AGAIN then will my fans genuinely believe I stand a chance to bag myself the main event spot at WrestleMania? This is probably make or break, a win and I’m in with a shout and if I lose, I’ll still be Intercontinental Champion but I should kiss my Royal Rumble hopes goodbye, let’s see what creative decides to go with.

Sami then stood up after trying to motivate himself and packed up his things, knowing he needed a win against Stardust to actually be taken seriously in the build-up to the Royal Rumble. Next stop, Denver.

Monday 12th January 2015 – Monday Night Warfare – Pepsi Center – Denver; Colorado

The scene opened up backstage where the television monitors were set up and the camera panned down to a smiling Sami Zayn who had yet to get changed into his in-ring gear. He was smiling into the camera whilst wearing his usual flat cap, blazer and an InZayn t-shirt before finally speaking into the camera.

SAMI ZAYN
Tonight…once again we have champion vs. champion. We have your Intercontinental Champion, Sami Zayn taking on the Breakout Champion in Cody…Stardust. Now as you all might remember, the last time we were inside that ring he actually defeated me and kudos to him, I certainly didn’t expect it which is why he probably beat me but it’s a new year and a new, more determined Sami Zayn who will do whatever it takes to become the best and the only way of proving that…is by winning. Something which hasn’t been coming so easily for me as your champion, a few victories here and there but I need more than some wins trickling my way whereas Stardust, I can’t remember the last time I saw him down for a three count, and that’s great for him because he’s proving to everyone that he’s not the joke we all think he is with his body paints and jibber-jabber he talks but this time I might not even need a pin fall. For me, submitting my opponents has worked my way and although I’d end up getting a bucket load of cheap gold pain on my tights, I’m willing to take that risk and choke the life out of you to get that win.

Sami stopped and smiled before shuffling his championship title on his shoulder and then talking some more.

SAMI ZAYN
You know, I’ll be very satisfied by defeating you Stardust because you’ve been on a roll lately and taking away your momentum would be fantastic. I won’t take your victories away from you, Vampiro – wherever he has disappeared to and even Bray Wyatt. You’re great against guys just that liiiiiitle bit stranger than you but not better, you might have beaten me before but as I said it’s a new year and a new Sami Zayn and I can assure you…I’m a whole lot better than what you’ve seen. You’re great, on the cusp of big, big things because of your wins but guess what? So was Cody Rhodes. I mean he was fantastic, he was destined for main event success, World Championship material and after all of the talk and the minimal action…he settled for mediocrity in Stardust. Tonight I’m proving that I’m the better man and the better champion and it doesn’t matter which level of weird you reach, I’m always going to be one step ahead.

Zayn and his determined attitude stormed off the set, knowing he had to defeat Stardust in just a few moment.
