Shocking news has emerged from St. Louis today, as EBWF announced that former Saved By The Bell star Dustin Diamond has been appointed as EBWF's new General Manager.
In a press release, EBWF Chairman and CEO Wes Ikeda said: "We've been looking to appoint a General Manager for a while, and we think Dustin is the perfect man for the job."
Diamond is best known for playing Screech on the popular 90s teen sitcom Saved By The Bell. Fans of Screech were scarred for life in 2006 when Diamond directed and released his own sex tape, titled Screeched - Saved by the Smell.
He is a lifelong wrestling fan, and in 2008 Diamond was a contestant on Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling, finishing fourth. Diamond was also previously involved with Memphis Championship Wrestling.
In 2013, Diamond was a contestant on the twelfth series of Celebrity Big Brother and most recently Diamond played Bernardo, the castle guard, in the partially animated science fiction comedy Hamlet ADD.
Nicole Ikeda-Orton, who is the Executive Vice President of Global Media, was quoted as saying: "With his love of wrestling and global popularity, we're confident Dustin will be an asset to EBWF."
EBWF Superstar Chris Jericho, who until recently held the role of interim CEO, added: "Everyone at EBWF is a big fan of Saved by the Bell, and we also considered Dennis Haskins (aka Mr Belding) for the role, but come on... who doesn't love Screech?"
Diamond is expected to make his EBWF debut this Sunday at WrestleMania. Rumors that he will be facing Wes Ikeda in a bra and panties match are so far unconfirmed.
