A King without a Crown

Post by Ashlee »

Wes Ikeda was just hours away from traveling to Lambert International Airport to board his plane to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Sitting in the conference room on the thirtieth floor of his building, he was looking over the final draft of the Warfare Card and he stared at it in something akin to disbelief. He stood up from his chair, and started down the hallway toward his office. Rather than stopping there, he crossed the lobby and went to Joanie Helmsley’s office. Her door was open, and he knocked on the doorjamb before walking inside.

Joanie Helmsley: You alright?

Wes Ikeda: It’s just, I was looking at this card and I know I agreed to be in the King of the Ring tournament and everything, but I’m facing… Doc Holliday?

Joanie chuckled.

Joanie Helmsley: It’s Doc Gallows, and yes. He’s Punk’s latest lackey…

Wes Ikeda: Yeah, whatever, listen… I just beat Brock Lesnar. I can’t lose a match to this guy.

Joanie Helmsley: We know.

Wes Ikeda: Right, but I said I’d only do the first round. For numbers. I can’t be in the King of the Ring tournament.

Joanie Helmsley: The crowd loves you.

Wes Ikeda: Joanie, you can’t book this. I can’t lose to him, and I can’t advance in the tournament.

Joanie Helmsley: I can book this. I did book this.

Wes Ikeda: Joanie… I’m not laying down for this guy when I just beat Brock Lesnar! It’s ridiculous and… why would you give me this opponent?!

Joanie Helmsley: It’s random. You know that.

Wes Ikeda: Random my ass!

Joanie gave a small grin.

Wes Ikeda: You knew I’d feel this way. You knew I’d… you guys want me to win. You guys want me in this tournament.

She smiled/

Joanie Helmsley: The crowd loves you.

Wes Ikeda: Natalie is going to murder me.

She shrugged.

Joanie Helmsley: At least you went out doing what you love.

Wes Ikeda: You’re all going to pay for this. All of it.

He laughed. So did she.

Joanie Helmsley: You better go catch that flight. And good luck in your match against whathisface.

Wes rolled his eyes. This wasn’t at all what he intended, but he was certain luck wasn’t something he would need. He told her goodbye and left her office, and then cursed under his breath when he realized he’d need to go home and get his gear bag. It was going to be a very long June.

OOC: It really is random. :lol
