Brock Lesnar vs. Sami Zayn

JIM ROSS
And there it is! Helluva Kick! And Sami Zayn defeats Bad News Barrett!
“World’s Apart” by CFO$ blasted the PA system as Sami Zayn dropped to his knees and celebrated with his head in his hands, as he advanced to the next round of the King of the Ring tournament. It hadn’t been an easy ride for Sami to get here, suffering one loss after another and he avoided a fourth defeat in a row by connecting with the Helluva Kick. He got to his knees and started to walk towards the top ropes, climbing on them and celebrating with the fans. He then dropped back into the ring and his huge smile had disappeared and turned into more of a state of shock, and it didn’t go unnoticed.
JERRY LAWLER
Well JR, Sami Zayn might have won the match and advanced to the next round of the King of the Ring tournament…but I think the realisation has finally started to sink in to Sami…he takes on The Beast, Brock Lesnar in the next round!
JIM ROSS
You’re right King, it’s clear Sami Zayn now understands what is at stake here. His performance was impressive tonight but next week…lord help Sami Zayn, this will not end pretty.
JERRY LAWLER
Really JR? I was waiting for you to give a whole speech about Sami Zayn and his heart. Sami Zayn and his determination!
JIM ROSS
Well…I was…that was until I remembered he’s facing Brock Lesnar next.
The ‘Ole!’ chants were still echoing throughout the arena as Sami left the ring with his hands on his hips as he slowly walked up the ramp and disappeared through the curtains without acknowledging the fans in usual fashion. The cameras followed him as he looked dejected after his victory as he continued to walk through the backstage arena. Eventually the cameras caught up with him as he was leaning on one of the large production boxes gulping down a bottle of water within seconds, with Todd Grisham in his ear.
TODD GRISHAM
Sami, I just wanted to catch a quick word about what we just saw out there. You managed to defeat Bad News Barrett which is obviously a happy occasion, but the cameras and fans did pick up the fact that you didn’t look too pleased, can you explain?
SAMI ZAYN
Well, I’m definitely happy. This was my first ever King of the Ring match and I won, and I won against an opponent I THOUGHT would bring out the best in me, but I’m not happy because I don’t feel like I actually brought out my best, and if that was my best then…well I’ll probably need all of the help I can get next week.
TODD GRISHAM
That’s exactly what I was getting at, next week you face what some might call an impossible task, when you take on Brock Lesnar who defeated Chris Jericho a little earlier on in the evening. I don’t even know what to say…what’s…going through your mind that you’ll now meet Brock Lesnar in the middle of the ring next week?
Sami looked to the ground with a blank expression on his face, trying to soak in the whole situation as he knew he would need to take it to a higher gear if he needs to be the victor against Lesnar next week. Eventually he slowly started to nod his head, thinking of something before speaking.
SAMI ZAYN
You and me both, Todd. I really don’t know what to say either I mean it’s…Brock Lesnar. How do you even prepare for Brock Lesnar? I mean I could go and lock myself up inside a gym right up until the point the bell rings for the match but there’s more to it than that. You’re not only preparing yourself for a match with Brock Lesnar, you’re preparing yourself for a week of mind games; courtesy of Paul Heyman. But hey, I’ve never backed down before, right? So I don’t plan on starting now. I can’t lie…the ideal situation would have been to prepare for Chris Jericho because I know what he brings, and the whole revenge aspect is there as well so maybe a rematch would have been ideal, but things don’t always sway in your favour in the wrestling business so if it’s Lesnar…so be it.
TODD GRISHAM
It’s no secret that the fans and most of the guys and girls in the EBWF expect Brock to win, what do you expect? Some might even say walking away from that match on your own two feet would be an accomplishment on it’s own.
SAMI ZAYN
That’s a fair statement. He’s good. He’s very good. But I didn’t talk my way into this business either, I fought my ass off and put everything on the line to get here and quite frankly what you or anyone else at the back thinks at my chances of winning…it doesn’t bother me one little bit. Because I know, at the same time that if there is a miracle and I do defeat Brock Lesnar, those same people will say they always believed in me, and right now I don’t care who believes in me. What matters the most to me is that I believe in me, I believe that I can put on a good show and I believe…I KNOW…I can defeat Brock Lesnar and I’ll sit through the laughs when people say that, but Sami Zayn will have the last laugh come Monday.
TODD GRISHAM
Well we do appreciate your optimism and we do hope you put on a great showing against The Beast Incarnate regardless of what people think. What’s next for you? You have a week to prepare for this match, what will you be doing in that time?
SAMI ZAYN
As I said, can you really prepare for Brock Lesnar? He is a monster…a monster than can be beaten. My plan is to go back home to Montreal, and I am going to train harder than I have ever trained before. Motivate myself like never before and next week Lesnar will see a Sami Zayn he has never seen before and he’s in for a rude awakening, I genuinely see myself walking out the winner…one way or another.
TODD GRISHAM
I appreciate you taking time out to talk to us Sami, enjoy the rest of your evening and the rest of your week and a huge good luck for next week against Brock Lesnar…
Sami started to walk away but Todd made the mistake of speaking to soon to the cameraman which was still live.
TODD GRISHAM
…because you will most definitely need it. Can you actually imagine if they book him to win?
CAMERMAN
Todd…Todd!
TODD GRISHAM
It’s cute though, I mean he does need to believe he stands a chance…but Sami Zayn? Brock Lesnar? I say stick your mortgage on Lesnar, Brian because that’s exactly what I’ll be doing.
The cameraman continued to hint at Todd that Sami was still standing behind him as Todd laughed away, before getting the signal and turning around to see Sami looking down at him, not angry but disappointed that he would say it all behind his back.
TODD GRISHAM
I…I…uh…Sami it’s not like…
SAMI ZAYN
No, it’s okay. I understand I can’t be taken seriously yet. But please, go ahead and stick your mortgage on Brock Lesnar winning because usually I’m not a cynic but it would be funny for me to see you lose your home courtesy of Sami Zayn, there’s a reason everyone here hates you, Todd. Get out of here.
Sami shoved the camera and Todd Grisham out of the way as the camera saw him walking away, scratching the back of his head in frustration before disappearing through the opposite side of the corridors. Sami was still adamant that he could defeat Lesnar, he had to believe it because nobody else would be doing so and he faced a huge task ahead of him.

Sunday June 21 2015 – Video Diary – The Broadway Columbia Hotel – Columbia; Missouri
It had been almost a week since Sami Zayn was last seen on EBWF television, the whole week was building towards next week’s Monday Night Warfare episode where one of the many interesting matches taking place would include Sami Zayn vs. Brock Lesnar and the winner would go on to face the winner of Brian Kendrick and Bully Ray. Sami knew what to expect the moment it was revealed his next opponent would be Brock Lesnar and he was prepared for all of the backlash that would come his way the moment he mentioned he stood a chance of defeating Brock Lesnar. He arrived in Columbia moments earlier and reached the hotel he was staying at, and to speak up he decided to record a video diary to let his feelings be known to the EBWF Universe who were going to be tuning in to Warfare to see the match take place.
The scene opened up inside of Sami’s room inside of The Broadway Columbia hotel and it was clear he was recording on his phone as the quality wasn’t up to the usual quality the EBWF provides. He was laying on his bed when he started recording as he continued to shift about making it look like he wasn’t really prepared and just wanted to let it all out.
SAMI ZAYN
Hey everybody...Sami Zayn here, as you know. I’ve just arrived at my hotel in Missouri, great hotel, friendly staff and I’m all set for tomorrow night when I take on Brock Lesnar in the King of the Ring tournament. Everybody knows what Brock Lesnar is, everybody knows who he is and what he brings to the table when he does turn up. He’s bad-ass, he can kick anyone’s ass on any given night and his aim in life for some reason is to go out and borderline paralyse his opponent. But that’s just him, not me, as much as I want to win, there’s no way I would want to do that to another human being…unless your name is either Brock Lesnar or Paul Heyman. Because I am really starting to hate them, in fact hate is a kind word to use for two scumbags like that, they’ve ran their rule on the EBWF for long enough and for too long all of us have had to sit back and watch them leave everything in their wake. If nobody else is going to at least try and put a stop to their ridiculous, barbaric antics, I may as well do it myself because if I don’t take them down myself at least I will go down trying and that’s exactly how people will remember me. You see…Paul Heyman has said it best. Brock Lesnar is a family man, he’s an ordinary man like you and me, he enjoys staying at home like most of us do but at the same time, he is continued to be built up as a monster. We are forced to believe Brock Lesnar has been genetically created inside of a lab to be superior to every other man on this planet. But at the end of the day, he bleeds from the same place I bleed, he feels the same pain I feel and we are both nothing but flesh on bones and he is just as human as I am, and no about of garbage being released from Paul Heyman’s mouth will ever change that.
Sami then sat up on his bed, fluffing his pillows and leaning them up against the bed so he could sit up comfortable before putting one hand behind his head to get into a more comfortable position as he continued to talk.
SAMI ZAYN
That’s exactly where the problem lies, Paul Heyman. At the end of the day, anyone who possesses a brain cell unlike Brock Lesnar will actually understand the fact Paul would turn on Brock Lesnar the very second a new monster was created. Actually, maybe Brock does understand that. Maybe he understands that he needs Paul Heyman more than Paul Heyman needs Brock Lesnar because the second you take Brock Lesnar away from the so-called advocate…Brock Lesnar is nothing. He’s ordinary, he is nothing, he is simple. I know it, he is afraid that at any given moment the rug could be pulled out from under his feet, the limelight could result in the advocate turning all of his attention and all of his focus on to one John Cena, and that would be a bitter pill to swallow for Lesnar…on top of plenty of other pills he’s probably taken to get where he is.
Sami continued to think a little more, pausing numerous times throughout his recording as there was a lot he wanted to say so both Heyman and Lesnar.
SAMI ZAYN
There’s a big difference in Brock and myself, one of those key differences is that nobody…NOBODY in this company has the heart of Sami Zayn, and tomorrow night Brock Lesnar will realise that. And he will have no idea just what to do WHEN I don’t stay down, he can hit suplex after suplex after suplex after suplex but he will be in for the shock of his life when I keep kicking out and he has absolutely nothing left in the tank. THIS…is quite literally the closest you will get to David vs. Goliath in the EBWF, nothing will ever come as close as this, I have taken much, much worse and I still going to be there inside of that ring, ready to go toe to toe with Brock Lesnar.
Sami stopped again, exhaling loudly as he stared into space and stated to imagine how the evening would play out.
SAMI ZAYN
There’s genuinely nothing…absolutely nothing that Brock Lesnar can do to me that will be new, that will get me out of my comfort zone and make me panic, nothing. Because numerous times in my eleven year career I have had my career hanging in the balance, not knowing whether next week you’ll be able to eat a decent meal because you aren’t fit enough to compete inside of a ring and doing what you love, so it’s not new to me because I know the kind of person Brock Lesnar is, he won’t be satisfied until my beck is facing the other way and I’m left crawling inside of the ring to piece my legs back together. But…quite simply, I’m not afraid. I know what I’m heading into and I’m more excited than I have ever been. I know Paul Heyman offers Brock’s opponents the chance to leave the match beforehand, and I know he’ll do the same to me but there’s no chance in hell I’m walking away from this match. I’m walking into this fight full steam ahead and I’m not afraid to go ahead and provoke the beast as well, because I’m going to keep poking, and poking, and poking until Brock Lesnar completely flips. And I will provoke him so much, get him so paranoid that he self-destructs in the middle of the ring, right in front of his beloved advocate’s eyes. It will all be worth it, never have I wanted to win a match as much as I have wanted to win this one here. It will be worth seeing Paul Heyman’s shocked face at ringside and I will personally go over to him after the match – not to listen to his excuses- but to go there and grab all four of his chins and slam his slimy mouth shut once and for all.
He put his phone down for a second as he wiped his face and took a few sips from his glass of water, before picking it back up and continuing.
SAMI ZAYN
It does actually piss me off though. Sure, he’s lived up to all of his nicknames. He brings the pain, he has conquered, and he is a beast. But…he is a part time ass-kicker. He is a part-time conqueror. He is a part-time beast, and a full-time fraud and all eyes will be on Sami Zayn come Monday, and I don’t even care if it’s Brian or Bully Ray in the next round, because defeating Brock Lesnar is something I need to do before I can even think of the two of them.
He stopped talking again, wanting to make one video rather than a number of smaller clips and it took him time to get it all out so he looked into the camera of his iPhone before shifting on his bed again to get comfortable once more as he continued.
SAMI ZAYN
I know I’m not the only one in the EBWF questioning it, but I’ll certainly speak up about it. Is this even Lesnar’s first love? Does he even want to be here? The world of football turned him away and he realised he wasn’t needed there, he realised he couldn’t dominate there so the UFC came knocking and he did well. He’s either a man of many talents and he excels in every department, or he is average in each of them. Maybe, we might even see Brock Lesnar take a leaf out of The Rock’s book soon and try his hand at acting. But…that will probably fail too like his football career because in a movie he would actually need to put a sentence together and clearly, over the past few years it’s obvious Lesnar’s balls have been kicked so far up into his stomach that Paul Heyman needs to do all of his talking, but hey, whatever keeps Heymans pockets full…Lesnar will do. It’s obvious, it’s all about the money. Money motivates Brock Lesnar, not destruction. He is a mercenary. If you threw a blank cheque at Brock Lesnar and ask him to drop out of the King of the Ring tournament and walk away…he would walk out of the door and hit Paul Heyman with an F5 on his way out of the door.
Sami stopped and started to smile again, knowing that everything he was saying was true.
SAMI ZAYN
Hell, if a blank cheque was thrown at Lesnar then he would even kiss Wes Ikeda’s ass in the middle of the ring. But if you throw me a blank cheque then I would tear it up into pieces and throw it right back into your face because I’m in this business because I love it and I have vowed to make it a better place, and this place is better off with no Brock Lesnar. Because I am sick, and tired of people like Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman taking opportunities, stopping guys in their tracks. I’m sick of rolling over to someone bigger and someone more impressive-looking but can’t string a sentence together, I’m tired of it. I know exactly what Paul and Brock think of me, I won’t kid myself and think me talking will have them worried, because it won’t. I won’t even try to sound like a serious threat. But I do know that even up until Brock Lesnar’s music hits the PA system, he and Heyman will be sitting in their lavish locker room with their feet up, smoking cigars and playing cards ready to put in a quick shift and go back to what they were doing.
He calmed himself down for a second as he then motivated himself, sitting up on the bed and not looking lazy anymore.
SAMI ZAYN
But they’re in for a rude awakening. In fact, I’m surprised at Paul. Sure, he’s fat and needs to hide behind big, muscular men to make himself look good but I though he had an eye for talent, I thought he appreciated this business and what it produced. Sure, Lesnar was one of the finest specimens created, but more and more stars are breaking out into their own and they’re both trying too damn hard to steamroll through the talented guys, but I’m not rolling over to any of you, because you both make me sick. At the end of it all, you’ll realise that Sami Zayn isn’t just a flavour of the month, he’s here to stay and he’s simply that good. Because after years and years of being told I’m not good enough, that I don’t fit the mould of a typical superstar…companies will think twice when they simply assume assholes likes Brock Lesnar can carry a company because a mercenary can only do so much before bailing whenever it suits him best, But someone like me, with so much passion and experience, I am here to keep this industry alive and keep it thriving better than anyone, THAT is what drives me.
He reached over to his duffel bag and pulled out his wrestling tights he wears and put them on the bed and pointed at them as he stood up and spoke.
SAMI ZAYN
You see these? These flags? These flags on my wrestling tights show where I have competed. It shows I worked my ass off in all of the dirty arenas in Portugal, in Japan, in Mexico, in England, in Norway, in Belgium, everywhere! And these are the places I made a name for myself and all of those fans will be tuning in tomorrow to watch one of their own do the unthinkable and defeat Brock Lesnar in the King of the Ring tournament!
Sami threw the wrestling tights back into the bag before taking his seat on his bed once more, turning the camera to him as it continued to shake, showing off the amateur-quality style of recording.
SAMI ZAYN
It actually makes me question the sanity of those who side themselves with Paul Heyman, especially Brock Lesnar who could easily achieve success again without that walrus by his side. I mean, what does being a Paul Heyman guy even mean? Do you wear it like a badge of honour? Does it get you into exclusive clubs? Or is it supposed to put fear in people like me? Because honestly, I’m not scared at all. All it shows me is that you bring in guys who were once successful until the fans grew sick of them, and they turned on the fans and now Paul Heyman is trying to once again force them down our throats so they stay relevant! They stay in the limelight. They continue to steal the opportunities from the ones that work hard to get where they are. You know what? I’m actually glad Bully Ray kicked John Cena’s ass last week because at least THAT way, there’s one disease out of the tournament and THAT disease is still trying to latch himself on to Wes Ikeda so he can keep his fading name and legacy out there and now, I have the chance to get rid of the cancer in the EBWF that is Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman because when Paul Heyman goes…Brock Lesnar goes.
Sami put the phone down as he got back on to his bed and was now laying down, picking the phone up as he stared into space before shifting the camera back on to his face.
SAMI ZAYN
Y’know, usually people are afraid of Brock Lesnar. But I’m happy that regardless of all the words that were said between myself and Chris Jericho, I’m glad Jericho stood his ground and fought and didn’t run away. As much as I would have enjoyed another shot at Jericho…I guess Brock Lesnar isn’t too bad of a back-up plan. People are actually surprised, surprised that I’m not afraid of Brock Lesnar. In fact, this is the best I can do right about now, a video diary because nowadays we don’t even know when or where Brock Lesnar will appear next otherwise I would not hesitate I saying all of this to his face.
He shifted on his pillow once more as he started to smile, and express himself more confidently which suggested he was on level with his opponent and he believed it.
SAMI ZAYN
One thing I do know is that Brock Lesnar is an excellent liar, as is Paul Heyman. Brock Lesnar manages to get Heyman to talk a good game, and they will do the same and they will verbally attempt to destroy the Sami Zayn name and attempt to verbally destroy whatever small following or legacy I have built for myself, they’ll tarnish it all. But deep down, I know that both Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are afraid. No, not afraid OF me – even though I could kick Paul’s ass in a fight and it would take a lot more than eight minutes on a treadmill to prepare to wrestle Sami Zayn – they are not afraid OF me. They are simply afraid of what could happen. They are afraid of what tomorrow night could bring, I’m not afraid though because I’ve had my ass handed to me by the best of them, I can even bring a list of all the names to the ring to show that. But the fact is…every single person watching this match expects me to lose, and you know what? I am perfectly fine with that. Hell, I’ll be surprised if I beat Brock Lesnar clean in the middle of the ring! But Brock Lesnar? What will Brock Lesnar do when he hears my music hit the PA system? What will he and Paul do when they hear my name announced as the victor? What can they do when the referee raises my arm in victory? There are no excuses then, Brock. Brock wouldn’t know what to do because everyone expects him to win, Paul Heyman expects him to win, Wes Ikeda expects him to win. Chris Jericho expects him to win, the board expect him to win, my own parents expect him to win! And everybody expects me to lose, it’s simple.
Sami laughed at that idea. His reaction showed that he faced an uphill battle to make people believe in him, but he didn’t care as he would prove the world wrong the following night.
SAMI ZAYN
What will Brock do then? Will he say it was a fluke? Will he disappear again? Will he say he gave me a chance? Of course he’ll say THAT. But will anybody actually be afraid of The Beast Incarnate anymore? Will Wes Ikeda even think Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman and John Cena are worth his time and effort? Definitely not. I’ll be doing the world a favour when I slay the beast and prove that Brock Lesnar can and will be defeated. Then when Brock Lesnar is done, defeated and exposed. Wel will be free of him and Paul Heyman and he can stop creating this illusion that Brock Lesnar is an unbeatable destructive force and he can finally stop giving us lessons in Latin and start to deliver seminars, explaining just how Sami Zayn did the impossible and defeated Brock Lesnar. Then going on to claim the crown, because Paul, I’m not simply coming to the Mizzou Arena to put on a jolly good performance for the fans and show them that small guys can move. I’m coming to kick your clients ass and he’s going to be in for the surprise of a life time when he has absolutely no idea just what hit him.
Sami gave a thumbs up to the camera with a cheesy grin before struggling to stop the recording. Eventually he found it and the clip ended, with Sami Zayn adamant that he would go on to defeat Brock Lesnar regardless of what everyone else believed, Brock Lesnar could be beaten and he was going to be the man to do it.

Monday June 22 2015 – Monday Night Warfare – Mizzou Arena – Columbia; Missouri
The EBWF was in Columbia, Missouri for the latest episode of Monday Night Warfare as more King of the Ring ties would be taking place. Brian Kendrick and Bully Ray would be main eventing the show and the match taking place before that was the Brock Lesnar vs. Sami Zayn bout. Sami Zayn hadn’t talked for most of the week and instead he posted a video on his social media accounts and it was also posted on to the EBWF website where he didn’t hold back on his thoughts on both Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar, and judging by the comments it would be safe to assume Brock Lesnar would be angry. But throughout the clip, Sami Zayn didn’t look too worried about the task, and only time would tell whether it was a wise stunt to pull.
The scene opened up at the half way mark of the show in the backstage area where Sami Zayn was seen warming up. He was in his wrestling tight and he was wearing the InZayn t-shirt with his headphones over his ears as he continued to pump himself up. He was mouthing the lyrics to the song he was listening to until Michael Cole approached him, tapping him on his shoulder as he turned around and listened to what Michael had to say and ask.
MICHAEL COLE
Sorry to disturb you at a time like this Sami, how are you feeling being just moments away from taking on The Beast Incarnate…Brock Lesnar.
Sami shifted his headphones and put them around his neck as he smiled at Cole, almost laughing as he answered his question.
SAMI ZAYN
Well Michael, I’m feeling like I have felt all week. I feel ready, I feel pumped up. I am fired up…why would it change? Why? I said it yesterday, Brock Lesnar is human, without Paul Heyman he’s nothing and I’ll prove that inside of the ring when it’s just him and me, nothing changes. He doesn’t scare me one little bit, I’m here aren’t I? That means I’m ready to fight and I know what he can do, and hopefully my pain receptors are on vacation tonight but even if they aren’t…I’m going to give it my all and more to make sure it’s me who walks out the winner, anything it takes…I’ll do it.
MICHAEL COLE
Well…many might consider your comments as provocation, as if you’re almost giving Brock Lesnar a reason to…well…break you in half tonight.
SAMI ZAYN
Oh don’t hold back Michael. You know what? I’m hoping that’s the Brock Lesnar I get tonight. I don’t want a washed-up Lesnar. I don’t want a Lesnar who brings 50%. I want the best Brock Lesnar this company has ever seen because that’s the only way somebody like me will get any validation, by defeating the best version of Brock Lesnar. Even if he doesn’t decide to give me his best, I’ll kick his face and his ass repeatedly until it sinks into his mind and into Paul Heyman’s mind that Sami Zayn is no pushover and he doesn’t stay down for anybody.
Michael was about to ask another question but Sami pulled his headphones back over his ears as he slowly walked away, refusing to back down and accept the fact that he couldn’t beat Lesnar. Deep down he knew what he had to do, and he knew it would take a lot to do so but that’s exactly what he was in this company for. To put on a good show for the fans, and to pick up a win against the most dominant man in the company.
