The Uprising

OOC: Struggled to write this week, but hope you enjoy reading. Best of luck, Jay and Kamden <3

The Warfare pre-show was underway, and the camera cut backstage at the Wells Fargo Arena, where Wade Barrett was seen walking through the arena. As Barrett walked down the hallway, he was stopped by Michael Cole.

Michael Cole: Hey, Wade! Is Ryback with you? I was hoping to ask the two of you a few questions about your match tonight.

Wade Barrett: I'm not sure where Ryback is, Michael. Have you checked the food court? I have something I need to say, but not to you. I'm going to say it out there, in the ring.

Barrett pushed past Cole and headed towards the ring. As he walked through the curtain, "Rebel Son" by CFO$ hit and the crowd booed as Barrett made his way down the ramp. Barrett had a stern expression on his face, and as he entered the ring he glared around at the crowd. Barrett then took a microphone from ring announcer Justin Roberts, and after his music was cut, Barrett began to speak.

Wade Barrett: Three months ago at WrestleMania, Ryback and I defeated the strange mismatch that was CJ Parker and Tyler Breeze, and promised to restore some pride to the EBWF Tag Team Titles. After more than a year of the titles being nothing more than a prop to make Edge and Randy Orton look good – and a few months of The Miz being the strangest stand-in partner for Randy Orton that I'd ever seen... the titles faded away into obscurity, were mysteriously vacated and somehow, Breeze and Parker stopped Ryback and I from becoming the rightful champions. When we finally righted that wrong at WrestleMania, we were ready to fight anyone. To be honest, I was hoping Rated RKO would reunite so Ryback and I had some real competition... instead, we got another strange combination. Stardust and Luke Harper became the number one contenders, and the strangest part of all was, they beat us. Because Ryback and I made the same mistake we'd made when we lost to Breeze and Parker... we underestimated our opponents, and paid the ultimate price. And while I can't speak for Ryback, I was extremely angry with myself. To make a mistake like that once is bad enough; to make it twice is unforgivable. There is only one way Ryback and I can ever redeem ourselves, and that is to take back the Tag Titles and do what we said we would do when we won them the first time – reignite the tag division, and make those titles mean something. As champions, we have the right to a rematch... but if you believe Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, we don't deserve that rematch.

The crowd cheered at the mention of Ambrose and Rollins. Barrett shook his head with disdain.

Wade Barrett: Oh, you like Ambrose and Rollins, do you? What is it you like about them so much? Let's start with Ambrose, shall we? I'll tell you some of the things I like about him, and let's see if we agree. I like how he won the PTG Title at Christmas Eve of Destruction last year, cashed it in almost immediately... and got his arse handed to him by Solomon Crowe.

The crowd booed as Barrett dissed Ambrose, but Barrett continued, raising his voice to drown out the boos.

Wade Barrett: Do you know what else I like about him? I like the way he made it to the King of the Ring semi-finals, and got completely outsmarted and outclassed by Justin Gabriel. I might have gone out in the second round, but I lost to the eventual winner, Sami Zayn... so you can guarantee that if I had beaten Sami Zayn, I'd be stood before you as King Barrett right now. There's no shame in my defeat, and I'm sure you'll all agree with me that Sami Zayn was a worthy winner.

The crowd sounded their approval and Barrett nodded.

Wade Barrett: That's right. Sami Zayn was a worthy winner, because unlike Dean Ambrose, he didn't choke when he had the opportunity to do something great! That's twice you've choked now, Dean... when it really matters, you can't get the job done. I've never had a World Title match the whole time I've been in the EBWF, but when I do get that opportunity, I'll make damn sure I take it with both hands and walk out as the champion. I won't be like you, Ambrose. Right now, you're nothing more than a specialist in failure. Ryback took you out last week on Warfare, and I'll take great pleasure in taking you out myself tonight. You and that stupid blonde-streaked partner of yours, Seth Rollins.

The crowd chanted for Rollins, and Barrett laughed to himself.

Wade Barrett: Don't worry, you'll get to see Rollins soon enough... you'll see him later on tonight, when I hit him right in the skull with the Bullhammer. You might have gotten to look like the hero last week, Seth, but tonight, you'll be nothing more than another failure. But the thing I don't understand about you is this, Seth. You have potential. So why have you aligned yourself with a lunatic like Dean Ambrose? He doesn't know where he is half the time! He's a ticking time bomb, and if you're going to be successful in the tag team division, you need a partner you can count on. Ambrose is the sort of bloke that can implode at any moment, but you Seth – you're different. Focused. Driven. Hell, if it wasn't for the fact you're such a smug arsehole, I wouldn’t mind working with you myself. You're no Ryback, but when I look at the other superstars on the EBWF roster and think about which of those superstars I'd like to have battling by my side as I claw my way to the top, you're one of the first names that comes to mind. You could be the future of this business, Seth. But if you continue to associate yourself with a waster like Dean Ambrose, you won't accomplish a damn thing. I mean really, what do the two of you have in common? You both worked your way through the indies to get to the top, which I respect, but apart from that, I can't see many similarities. Well, apart from your stupid hair of course. How effective can the two of you be together? Do you have the right chemistry? I don’t think you do, especially not when I compare the two of you to Ryback and me. When Ryback first joined the EBWF, we didn't see eye to eye. We were rivals, until one day we realised that we both wanted the same thing. We wanted to dominate the EBWF, clear it of all the dead wood. And we realised that, between my brawling prowess and Ryback's incomparable strength, together we would be a force to be reckoned with. And while we've made mistakes along the way, Ryback and I have already shown that when we're both at the top of our game, we're unstoppable.

The crowd booed Barrett, and tried to drown him out by chanting for Ambrose and Rollins. Refusing to let the crowd stop him from saying what he had to say, Barrett raised his voice once again.

Wade Barrett: You can chant all you like, it won't make a difference! Ryback and I are hungry. Well... Ryback is always hungry... but right now, we both have an insatiable appetite. A determination, if you will. We are determined to prove to everyone that these peculiar combinations like Luke Harper and Stardust, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, are not what EBWF's tag division needs. The tag division needs true teams – powerful, cohesive units like Ryback and me. So tonight, we'll take care of Rollins and Ambrose, then we'll set our sights on regaining the Tag Titles. Mark my words, there will be an uprising in the EBWF... and tonight is the start of it.

Barrett dropped the microphone and made his way to the back as "Rebel Son" blasted over the PA system once more.
