Zayn vs. Kendrick
Posted: Mon Aug 10, 2015 6:14 pm
The EBWF was in Charlotte, North Carolina as the build-up to Destiny continued. Last week Sami Zayn was competing in the main event against the Path to Glory champion, The Miz and picked up the win, albeit via disqualification. The fans were left in shock as The Miz along with Ted DiBiase, Kyle O’Reilly, Finn Bálor and Kevin Owens of Vertex left Sami Zayn a bloody mess. The group didn’t allow the officials to help Zayn, and instead laid down a vicious beat down on him, as we saw a Skull Crushing Finale as well as coup de grâce amongst other manoeuvres which left Sami in no condition to even drag himself out of the ring. But the main talking points was the fact that Kevin Owens finished off the assault by hitting a massive powerbomb to the outside of the ring, knocking Sami out as officials tended to him. Sami had his ass handed to him plenty of times during his career, whether it was as a generic luchador or the fan favourite he is today, but nothing had compared to what Vertex had done to Zayn, and questions were being raised as to when Sami would be able to compete especially with a World Title match looming.
As Warfare continued to roll on live, the attention turned towards the announce team of Jim Ross and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler as they addressed the EBWF Universe.
JIM ROSS
Well ladies and gentlemen, before we move on we would like to take you back to the events that took place last week in the main event of Monday Night Warfare. A truly sickening moment involving the members of what The Miz calls Vertex, and Sami Zayn.
JERRY LAWLER
That’s right JR, I still can’t the sight of all that blood out of my head. And if we look at the big screen now we can just see…ouch! Finishing move after finishing move to an already weakened Sami Zayn.
JIM ROSS
You’re right, King. Just absolutely sickening from vile human beings, I didn’t think they could sink any lower but these men continue to surprise us. And I think we know why The Miz did what he did, but right now we do have Sami Zayn with us, via satellite as he continues to recover from the injuries he sustained at the hands of Vertex last week. Sami, can you hear us?
Fans started to cheer as they saw a weak-looking Sami Zayn appear on the titan-tron. He was still in a gown with plenty of cuts and bruises around his face, as he showed little enthusiasm but wanted to speak to JR and Jerry Lawler, and the fans were showing their appreciation for it.
SAMI ZAYN
I can hear you guys, loud and clear.
Fans started to cheer again as he spoke, and moments later Sami forced a smile as he could hear the Charlotte fans supporting him in full force.
JERRY LAWLER
Sami that reaction speaks for itself, first off we all hope you recover to 100% and you’re back doing what you do best inside of the ring. I think we need to ask, is there any chance of you competing for the World Championship, yes or no?
Sami sighed, he thought about it for a short while before giving his answer.
SAMI ZAYN
I’ve not been 100% for a number of years now, and I probably never will be. Vertex did a damn good job of trying to take me out of the picture once and for all…but they didn’t finish the job, King. I’m still breathing which means I’m still going to be competing, forget the World Championship match, you’ll have to kill me to get me out of that match. There is no chance I’m missing that bout. In fact I’m going to be in action before that, I may be sat, helpless in a hospital room but you’ll see me inside of the ring next week, I can promise you that.
Fans cheered as Sami announced that he intended to compete next week as JR tried to talk over the noise.
JIM ROSS
Sami, before we get to that we want to talk about the events that took place last week, more notably at the conclusion of the evening where Kevin Owens – a close friend of yours or so we thought, hit that power bomb on you which is a big reason you’re over there, what are your thoughts on that?
Fans booed as JR mentioned Kevin Owens’ name, and Sami grew angry at relieving the events that took place last week.
SAMI ZAYN
I know Kevin Owens better than any person on this entire planet. Better than you guys, better than Finn Balor, better than Ted DiBiase and better than The Miz. He’s doing what he’s doing because he has to, and that’s all there is to it. The moment he grabbed me and hit me out of that ring, any friendship or brotherhood bonds…they ended there. I’m not on a revenge mission for any of those guys, I’m not going to get into a battle with them because I know I can’t win the numbers game. But all I can say is Kevin Owens will get what is coming to him as long as I’m here. The Miz will get what’s coming to him and I know our paths will definitely cross again. I also know Vertex will be getting what’s coming to them, because there are plenty of guys like me at the back who are just itching to kick their ass.
As Sami played down the threat of Vertex, claiming they wouldn’t succeed in whatever it was they were trying to achieve.
JIM ROSS
Well then we have to ask you, have you been cleared to compete for next week? And is there any news on an opponent?
SAMI ZAYN
I don’t really think it matters if I’m cleared to compete or not. I’m going to be out of this room by then and I’m going to hop on a plane to the Royal Farms Arena and I’m going to make my way down that ramp and into that ring and I’m going to win, plain and simple. Look, I’m hurt. I won’t hide that. And yeah, if we’re thinking logically a triumphant return to get the fans on their feet for me would be for me to come out and take on an enhancement talent or someone trying to make a name for himself so I do what I’m expected to do…win. But I don’t want that, I don’t want the easy win in five minutes, I want the best and I want somebody who will genuinely push me to my limits. You know since winning King of the Ring all people have been saying is that I got lucky against this guy, that I shouldn’t have got to the final and won…so here’s hoping the guys who book these things can get me that match with Brian Kendrick…so I can prove that my win over him was because I was just better, and that I wanted it more.
JIM ROSS
Thank you Sami, we look forward to seeing you back in action next week.
SAMI ZAYN
Thanks guys. I know that Kendrick will probably be laughing it up seeing me here, but I'll be sure to book him in the same room because I'm not happy, and he's going to feel that first-hand next week, you can count on that.
Fans cheered once more as Sami signed off, declaring his intent to compete next week and he wanted one of the most dangerous men on the roster, Brian Kendrick.

Monday 10 August 2015 – Monday Night Warfare – Royal Farms Arena – Baltimore; Maryland
The main event of the evening was edging closer and closer. Some brilliant matches had already taken place and this week Sami Zayn was going to be taking on Brian Kendrick in the main event, a sort of rematch from the King of the Ring pay-per-view. Fans were still settling into the seats as Warfare returned from a commercial break, and when they least expected it, “World’s Apart” by CFO$ blasted the PA system and the Baltimore crowd erupted into cheers as the arena lights turned to shades of yellow and red. His video played on the titan-tron before the cheers grew louder and louder as he appeared on the stage. He played to the crowd and pumped them up before dancing his way down the ramp, high-fiving whoever he could see before climbing on to the steel steps and pumping them up some more. He got into the ring and started to circle it, asking for a microphone as he continued to walk around. Eventually his music stopped playing and he waited for the ‘Ole!’ chants to die down.
SAMI ZAYN
I know what everybody thinks. I’m out here, to talk about THAT thing. This time two weeks ago I would have never guessed that I would have been getting my ass kicked all over this ring by a bunch of guys. It took five of them to keep me down. But we’re not here to talk about them, because I know they want me to come out here and tell you people that Vertex are a threat. But I’m not going to give them that satisfaction…plus…it looks like the numbers game is quickly catching up, who was it, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins AND Solomon Crowe? Boy this is about to get fun. But no, let’s not dwell on what happened let’s talk about what’s going to happen, in just a short while right here in the middle of this ring. Because tonight…I take on Brian Kendrick.
Fans cheered as they already knew this would be a great match between two competitors who always left it all in the ring, and judging by the smile that was on Sami’s face, he was also looking forward to it.
SAMI ZAYN
I know, I know. “Why is he smiling?” I can assure you my brain is still functioning. I also know the threat Brian Kendrick possesses. But I know first-hand the threat he brings, what he has to offer and to be quite honest…it’s exactly what I need right now. Regardless of what he thinks of me and regardless of what I think of him, he’s an underappreciated and underutilised superstar in the EBWF, and if he defeated my at King of the Ring I promise you, it would have been Brian Kendrick going up against Dolph Ziggler. But that’s just it…people don’t really see me as the King. Hell, I don’t see myself as the King, it’s just a label, and tonight I need to prove it was more than that.
As I said last week, I could have just as easily been handed an enhancement talent, either go out there and squash him and make him look like a fool which I wouldn’t have wanted to do, or go out there and put on a wrestling clinic, all for a cheap pop from you guys. I didn’t want to give you that, I need to give you entertainment, I ned to be in this ring and show the boss that I am a guy worth investing in and not holding back and I need to show Dolph Ziggler once and for all that he’s finally found a guy who is serious about taking that title from him and I hope he’s watching tonight because I need him to know that I’m going to kick his ass, like he’s never been beaten before. So I thought, who do I NEED to beat to achieve all of that? Who will take me to the limit? The only name I could think of was Brian Kendrick, so here we are.
Sami spread his arms wide to show off the ring as fans cheered.
SAMI ZAYN
It’s almost as if I’m sacrificing myself to him, because I know what was said the last time. And Brian, you can say what you want to about me. In fact I find you entertaining and a great competitor, but ONE comment turned this match on its head, ONE comparison that just flipped a switch with me, you compared me to John Cena. You compared me to a parody whereas I’ve been working my ass off to be at his level that he was handed. So now, for that I’m afraid I’ll have to pin you or make you submit in the middle of the ring…again.
But this time Brian, this time I won’t even thinking about visiting the Crowe’s Nest to try and get any inside information on the crazy lifestyle you live. Because now I simply don’t care what you do, you’re going out there to hurt me and I’m coming out here to put a stop to that. It’s that simple. I know that it’s probably still eating you inside, just consuming you that a crazy son of a bitch like yourself who is hell-bent on making lives a misery…failed. You failed, and you couldn’t back your words up with your actions.
I don’t know if you have a TV in that crack house you call a home, but in case you missed it, I was attacked by five guys not long ago and combined, they did more damage to me than you did, obviously…five of them, of you, pretty self-explanatory. But the point I’m trying to make is that five guys tried to keep me down, left me there to pretty much bleed my sorry ass to death, but they failed, because I’m here talking to you about beating your junkie ass all over this arena! Yet…yet YOU believe you can cripple me? Buddy, I think you’re going to need to because NOBODY, not a crazy bastard like you or Crowe or a fake champion like Ziggler…none of you can stop me, none of you can cripple me and I’ll beat each and every single one of you because there’s a fire under me and I’m destined to hit the heights nobody here expected me to hit.
Fans cheered at Sami who grew more determined to defeat Kendrick, adamant that he wasn’t going to take his threats too seriously.
SAMI ZAYN
There’s nothing here that will make me be afraid of you, I’m here aren’t I? Waiting for YOU to come to the ring. I’ve beaten you before, not long ago and we all know that I’m going to do the same again. But you’re the one who is worried, not me. Because I know that you’re thinking you NEED to stoop to a new low, you NEED to do something memorable otherwise you’re more generic than I ever was. You’d just be the lonely guy tying people up in the shower who is laughed at. You think you need to do something you’ve never done before. You don’t want to be upstaged by The Miz, or Vertex, do you? Do you want people to say The Miz is actually more twisted than you? No, I don’t think somebody like you will settle for second place.
I know how you think. I know what you’re thinking. You want to embarrass me. You want to hurt me, you want me to think I should have never signed the contract to join this company, let alone agree to a match with you. You believe you should be in my position, challenging for the World Title, being the name on fans’ lips because you’re afraid of being forgotten, and now you want to latch your wasted-self on to me, and use me to be the man you want to be. It’s not going to happen. At the end of the evening you’re going to be just as useless as you were at the start of the night, as useless as you were this morning, as useless as you were last year and as useless as you were when you joined this company!
Fans cheered as Zayn not only motivated himself, but he tried to wake Kendrick up, wanting to face the best version of Kendrick so he could establish himself as a serious threat to the top level superstars, despite winning King of the Ring and picking up big victories.
SAMI ZAYN
To be honest, Brian has probably already forgotten about me and the match we had at King of the Ring. Because he has seen plenty of guys who thought they had it come and go, right in front of his eyes, he doesn’t expect to see me again. Just like I’m not giving The Miz any satisfaction of taking me out and hurting me, I’m not going to give you any satisfaction of believing you had any impact on my career. To you, I’m some small kid with nothing going for him and you want to hurt me…and for some reason you’ve got this idea in your head that I remind you of a Mexican luchador.
To everybody else you’re just some drugged-up asshole who could disappear off the face of the earth and they wouldn’t notice…but to me, you’re all of that and more. You’re someone that needs to be beaten, to be put down. Because there’s always some way you manage to pop up again and be a threat. Not anymore, after tonight we won’t be hearing from you, nobody will be afraid of you and you’ll be driving that party bus for Adam Rose. In fact, I saw that party bus in the parking lot earlier when I arrived. I was just so…tempted. It looks to glamorous from outside, everyone talks about how great it is and you need to see it to really understand and appreciate it. So…when nobody was looking I took a step in and I had a little browse and I have to say I was quite disappointed.
I thought it would be exciting, dangerous, fun, and even a boring guy like me knows when a party isn’t a party. So I left, I left a bored man who wasn’t impressed. That bus, that bus reminds me of you Brian. Because on the outside you’re edgy, people nowadays like that and they want to see that, because you’re different and it’s cool and it’s dangerous. But when we step inside of the ring with you, when we see what is really going on in the head of this twisted son of a bitch people just can’t get enough of…you’re left bitterly disappointed. That’s how I felt on that bus, that’s how I felt when I was standing opposite you at King of the Ring and I anticipate that’s how I’m going to feel tonight. Cool and dangerous on the outside. A boring, out of date disappointment on the inside. I’m all you’ve got. Try and break me. You’ll fail, again.
Sami dropped the microphone and extended his arms, taking his shirt off and jumping up and down as he pumped himself up, waiting for Kendrick to hit the ring.
