The scene opened backstage. Chris Jericho was seen hanging out with the new PTG Champion, Lance Storm. The two men were deep in conversation when they were interrupted by Michael Cole. Jericho and Storm both glared at Cole and the former broadcast journalist looked unnerved as he began to speak.

Michael Cole: Excuse me, Chris. I was hoping to get a few words about your match tonight?

Chris Jericho: Well Michael, Lance and I were just discussing my birthday celebrations. But I'm sure I can spare a couple of minutes.

Michael Cole: Well Chris, first of all happy birthday. Second of all, how do you feel about going up against a fellow veteran in Syxx tonight?

Chris Jericho: Well Cole, Syxx and I have faced off many times, and I'm confident of beating him. Win or lose, it's going to be a great match.

Michael Cole: Okay, but the winners of those qualifying matches will feature in a six pack challenge to determine the new number one contender for the World Champion. What are your thoughts on getting the chance to become the new World Champion?

Chris Jericho: I'm excited, Michael. The Miz is an arrogant SOB who should show more respect, and Vertex are a bunch of misfits. I can't wait to get my hands on Miz, but first I need to deal with Syxx. Then whichever other five superstars make it to the six pack challenge. It's all part of the plan, and that plan ends with me holding the World Title. I won't let anyone stand in my way.

Jericho looked at Cole as if to signal that the interview was over, and Cole seemed to take the hint.

Michael Cole: That's all we've got time for. Thank you for your time Chris, and good luck in your match tonight.
