OOC: Thanks to Steph for allowing me to use Maria, had fun writing this one.
Scene One: Friendly Advice.
The high flying Evan Bourne was coming off of a win in his debut match against James Storm at a pay per view nonetheless! So he was heading into his next match with a ton of momentum as he was scheduled to face off against the Sinister Scotsmen Drew McIntyre. The scene was set up in a gym in Des Moines, Iowa as Evan had scheduled a brief workout, to get himself ready for his match this week which was a still a couple of days away. He had stepped into the gym with his bag over his left shoulder, getting ready to start his workout as he noticed that the gym facility was fairly vacant which was just fine with Evan as he planned on being in his own little zone during this workout routine and did not want any distractions. He places his bag over on the bench and proceeds to walk over to the treadmill and perform a light jog on it just to start things out. He had his trusty Ipod with him and had the earphones in his ears as he listened to some music. It wasn’t too long until someone got on the treadmill located next to his and tapped him on the shoulder causing Evan to remove the earphones from his ears and look over at the person.
Dave Lewis
Hey! I know you! You’re Evan Bourne.
Evan chuckles as he nods his head at what he had said.
Matthew Korklan
Yes that’s me. What can I do for you?
Evan continued to jog on the treadmill resuming his workout while listening intently on whatever Dave was going to say next.
Dave Lewis
I know I may not look like much…but I had dreams of becoming a professional wrestler. I currently wrestle for a small local promotion here in Iowa, but I feel as if I’m ready to take the next step very very soon.
Matthew Korklan
Well it’s always important to dream big, you’ll surely reach some roadblocks along the way but you’ve got to overcome them and keep fighting. I’ve had people tell me that I was too small to accomplish anything substantial in the wrestling industry, that I would be overtaken by the bigger stronger guys and that I would be left eating there dust. I used those words as motivation to keep climbing the ladder and here I stand a member of EBWF and have wrestled in companies such as ROH and WWE along the way. I managed to win my debut match at the King of the Ring pay per view but I know that sky is the limit for me and I’ve got plenty more to accomplish.
A look of determination was expressed on his face as Dave listened carefully to everything he had told him.
Dave Lewis
Yeah man! I saw that match last Sunday, you were impressive out there. If you can keep up with that high flying offense Drew McIntyre won’t stand a chance!
Matthew Korklan
It’s not going to be easy, and my doctor isn’t too fond of me doing all those high flying moves especially since I’m coming off a serious foot injury that saw it broken in four places. But I’m going to build off of my win at the pay per view last week and use that momentum to pick up another win this week.
Dave Lewis
Sounds good man! Anyways I’ll let you carry on with your training, can’t wait to see your match this week! I know you’re going to kick some ass!
Matthew Korklan
Sounds good, did you manage to get tickets to the show?
Dave Lewis
Unfortunately not! Just going to have to watch it from home as I do on a weekly basis.
Dave proceeds to get off of the treadmill and wipe his forehead as Matthew gets off of the treadmill as well.
Matthew Korklan
Well that doesn’t sound too bad if you’re watching from an HD screen! ~laughs~
Dave Lewis
Oh no man! I’m not made of money and don’t need all those fancy gadgets!
Matthew Korklan
Fair enough, have fun watching the show!
Matthew bids Dave a farewell as he proceeds to walk towards the punching bag and throw a couple of punches into it continuing his workout so that he was at the top of his game for his match against Drew McIntyre this week.
End Scene One.
Scene Two: Pre-Match Routine.
Another edition of Warfare was already underway as the fans had just witnessed a great match, the scene was now set in the backstage area, inside of the locker room of Evan Bourne, who had a tennis ball in his right hand and standing inches away from the wall as he was performing yet another training routine, this time to do with his hand-eye coordination as he proceeded to toss the tennis ball against the wall with his right hand and catch it with his left hand, alternating hands every time he tossed the ball against the wall, while giving words of encouragement to himself.
Evan Bourne
This is it Evan, it’s almost time for your Warfare debut. You had a successful outing at the King of the Ring pay per view, now it’s all about following that up with another strong performance tonight against Drew McIntyre as well as a win. Drew’s definitely a sneaky one and I’m going to have to keep a close eye on him as he’ll resort to anything to come out of our match as the winner.
Evan continues to bounce the tennis ball off of the wall and catch it with his opposite hand without dropping it even once as he continues to speak to himself.
Evan Bourne
A win tonight would only increase my chances of getting a title shot somewhere down the line as we’ve got a ton of great champions on the roster so every win is going to be important, a loss however will feel like a major setback as the competition around here is at an all time high, almost everyone is on top of there game.
A determined looked was expressed on his face as he thought in great detail about his future on EBWF and the plans he had for himself. This deep thought process had made him lose focus on his workout routine as he mistimed his throw and dropped the tennis ball onto the floor as he failed to catch it. He just chuckles as he rubs the back of his neck and picks up the tennis off of the floor placing it onto the table, before standing upright and stretching his arms to loosen up his muscles. Before he was about to sit down on the couch and just relax there was a knock on the door as he told whoever was on the other side of the door to come in. A few moments later the door slowly opens as the person at the door was none other than the lovely Maria, who also had a match later on tonight. She had an ear to ear smile on her face as she stepped into his locker room to greet him.
Maria Kanellis
Hey Evan! I hope I’m not disturbing you, I just wanted to quickly pay you a visit and wish you good luck in your match tonight. I know “Spider-Evan” is going to do just fantastic out there in his match just like he was at the pay per view. And I also want to thank you again for the amazing meal at the diner the other day, that was very sweet of you to allow me to tag along with you to get a bite to eat.
He returned a friendly smile of his own while looking into her eyes.
Evan Bourne
Thanks Maria, the same goes to you. I know that you’ll have a great performance out there in your match later on tonight and come out as the winner. As for the diner? It was my pleasure, I enjoyed spending time with you and even hearing that fantastic singing voice of yours yet again. And I’m looking forward to hanging out after Warfare tonight and hearing more of that soothing voice of yours.
He laughs nervously not knowing if he was overdoing it with the compliments as Maria just giggles while looking at the table and noticing the tennis ball that was on it. She proceeds to grab it, toss it in the air a few times and catch it.
Maria Kanellis
I’m looking forward to that too Evan! And what’s with this tennis ball? You’re not going to head out to the ring and start juggling are you?
Evan Bourne
Juggling? Oh no definitely not! Although you’re just given me an idea. Maybe after my match if I win and providing Drew doesn’t knock me out during my match, I can celebrate by performing a juggling act in the center of the ring.
The both of them share a laugh at what he had just said as she shakes her head from side to side.
Maria Kanellis
You’re silly you know that? Although I’m sure the fans would enjoy seeing that. ~giggles~ Anyways Evan I got to get going, I’ve backstage interview scheduled any moment now and I am sure management will freak if I show up late for it. I’ll see you after the show Evan, and I’ll be watching your match for sure.
She proceeds to place the tennis ball back down onto the table, however before she could turn around and head out the door, Evan proceeds to grab her right hand firmly, bringing it up to his lips and planting a kiss on her knuckles which causes her cheeks to turn a bright shade of pink as the both of them remained silent. A few moments later she proceeds to just wink at him before turning around and heading out of his locker room. Leaving him all on his own once more, he looks at his wrists and fiddles with his wrist tape as it was back to get into the competitive mindset with his match against Drew McIntyre mere minutes away. Would he be able to come out victorious and go 2-0? Or would he experience a minor setback and come out with a loss? Only time would tell.
