Matt Sydal stands backstage talking to a camera crew guy but straight into the camera, his jet black hair once either clean cut short or just styled a little bit with a faux-hawk is now a bowl cut-faux hawk with a man bun, he has a tie-dye sleeveless shirt and black jeans, red and white shoes on.

I have pro for 16 years but for the past 10 years I have really been popular and known for my skills. “ Impressive” I was always labeled. A prodigy, pro since age 17.

I was inspired by many wrestlers: Sabu, Rey Mysterio, The Geurreros, The Malenkos, Benoit, Tajiri, Super Crazy, Jushin Liger, Tiger Mask, the WCW cruiserweight division was full of guys I admired and modeled what I do after, Pscicosis, Juventud Guerrera, Brian Pillman, Villiano III & IV, Silver King, Super Calo, Blitzkrieg, Ciclope, Jimmy Yang, Chris Jericho, Ultimo Dragon. Other wrestlers I grew up on were Ricky Steamboat, Nunzio, Jamie Noble. I also loved the Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boys, Edge and Christian.

That’s why my arsenal is so expansive, over 200 moves, including 50 standing attacks, 20 of which are strikes, 12 ground attacks 9 to when the opponent is laying on their back, 3 moves when they are laying face down, 18 running strike attacks and 13 running grapples, if my opponent is against the ring ropes I have 4 moves, turnbuckle attacks I have 19 and I have 5 running corner attacks, I innovated the corner lariat The Miz popularized, he’s admitted on art of wrestling that he stole it from me after seeing me do it on WSX. I don’t believe I innovated the the reverse DDT- Split leg drop I call The Slice in 2001 but I did think of it on own without seeing anyone else do it, and Melina popularized a decade ago. I have 42 aerial moves and 20 submissions, 7 signature moves, 3 finishing moves, 4 of my own trademark reversal moves and 2 desperation moves.

I have won 266 matches and lost 217 matches. I consider myself to be the best American Junior heavyweight today and I have a fantastic reputation as a solid technician with a mastery of American, Japanese and Mexican wrestling styles.

Before I was reborn in 2014 and had the amazing experiences in Peru, I was overly humble, willing to accept being boxed in as one of the best when like my friend CM Punk has always claimed since day one when I met him back in 2003, “ Best In The World.” I’ve been doing this close to 16 years and it is what I was born to do.

From a 13 year old backyard wrestler in the backyards and abandoned buildings of Missouri, to a 23 year old indy wrestler in high school gyms to a 30 year old in front of thousands to millions watching.

Whatever you know me as : Matt, Matthew, MATT, Lance Sydal, Matt Sydal, Evan Bourne I will continue to impress and I will EBWF world champion.
