OOC: I will apologise in advance for any spelling/grammatical errrors, I'm very tired and I don't have the energy to proof read it!
The scene opened backstage at the Smoothie King Center, where Drew McIntyre was watching a repeat of Matt Sydal's promo. When the promo had finished, McIntyre turned to the camera and began to speak.
Drew McIntyre: See here's the thing, Matt. I don't need you to list a load of facts from your Wikipedia page to make it seem like you're a threat. I know exactly what to expect from you. You're a high flier. The highlight reel. And you're... Reborn? I'll be honest, I don't really know what that means, but if you're getting at the fact that you're no longer the same person you were when we worked together elsewhere, neither am I. I have wrestled all around the world. Everywhere I have been, I have been a champion, and if you're reborn than I guess that makes me... evolved.
Drew smirked, but there was something devious in his smirk.
Drew McIntyre: I came to the EBWF to prove myself. I could have continued taking independent bookings worldwide, but when the opportunity for to wrestle for the biggest wrestling company in the world comes along, you'd have to be an idiot to turn it down. Especially when one of your oldest friends needs a new partner, and offers you a championship before you've even put pen to paper. But Wade Barrett and I are no longer the EBWF Tag Team Champions, and now I'm just another EBWF Superstar fighting to make my mark on the metaphorical ladder of success. I'm not just another EBWF Superstar, though; I'm so much more than that. I'm a fighter, a man who will do whatever it takes to get to the top. I've got a fire inside me that could burn down buildings if it was unleashed... That fire is what sparked my friendship with Wade Barrett. We share the same passion, that same fighting spirit. And I will not stop until I am respected around the world as one of the greats, until I am the EBWF World Champion. That's the difference between you and me, Matt – I let my actions speak louder than works. You have the gall to say you're not cocky then proclaim to be the best wrestler in all of the universe in the same sentence. You're not even the best wrestler in the EBWF, and you're getting ahead of yourself. I know I have to keep working to be the best, and I will never give up on that. You're nothing more than a roadblock on that journey, Matt, and when I beat you, I will be moving onto bigger and better things.
Wade Barrett: But what if you lose?
At this point, Wade Barrett entered the scene. McIntyre looked pleased to see him but was confused by his question.
Drew McIntyre: What do you mean?
Wade Barrett: Well Sydal has said that if he loses, he's like the car in Monopoly taking two steps back. So if you and Matt are playing Monopoly, I want to know which piece you'll be if you lose.
Barrett grinned, and Drew couldn't help to smile with him.
Drew McIntyre: Damn it, I'm always the car! I'll go for my second favourite, the dog... but be warned Matt, my bite is definitely worse than my bark. When I'm done with you tonight, you'll be in so much pain you'll barely be able to tie your shoes, let alone catch bullets between your ankles.
Barrett and McIntyre laughed together as the scene faded.
