I AM The Light

Post by David »

The scene opens with what seems to be the “Rollins Report” set, except the image quality isn’t what it usually is. The image seems grainy, and this week there is no studio audience. A very nasal laugh is heard as the camera turns around to reveal Seth Rollins holding it, in the dimly lit studio. He’s shown to be wearing his crosshair t-shirt, and his black and grey tights.

“So my opponent wanted to be on a talk show and didn’t know how? Huh… I guess that’s what happens when you’re a bottom of the barrel kind of guy relying on magazine articles to make a name for himself in a new market. The charismatic King of Strong Style wanted to speak his mind, and ended up digging himself into a hole. That kind of makes me doubt his charisma, but who am I to judge, right?”

Rollins contemplated as he looked over the empty seats in the studio.

“Being in a tag team is nothing new to me, I’ve been in loads of them, and through them all people only remember my so-called betrayals. They say I cling to success, that I’ll hit Havoc when he least expects it, which, considering my history, isn’t too farfetched, but then again, people also say, that I’m carrying the team and Jimmy is riding my coat tails, so I’ll just say that these things are both equally true, make of that what you will. Truth be told, if I even considered the possibility of betraying Jimmy he’d hunt me down and…”

Rollins seemed to lose his train of thought for a moment before regaining his composure.

“Hunt me down… RIGHT, there’s some other jackass in this match, the Jimmy Havoc impersonator with a tenth of his talent, what’s his name again? Adam… Aldo… Leo! Leo something, doesn’t matter. What has he done lately? I think he wrestled Jay Lethal? Jesus Christ, and people worry about who’s carrying this team, it’s like Leo Kruger hasn’t even showed up to work these past three weeks.”

Rollins lets out a small chuckle before continuing.

“Jokes aside, though, Kruger is a hunter, he’s used to lying in wait for the perfect time to strike and kill his prey. He symbolizes danger to any man he faces, but Havoc and I aren’t just normal men. I’ve seen more coldness in the Havoc’s eyes than Leo could ever think possible, and I am not prey for Kruger in any way, I may be one of the most ruthless athletes to ever be in EBWF. My opponents don’t have to worry about me… What were Nakamura’s words again…? Not hitting hard enough.”

Rollins looked at the camera as if the camera itself was Nakamura.

“See, Shinsuke, you can beat up Enzo Amore in the house show circuit all you want, you can run your mouth with your little peacock friend all year if you want to. Get distracted, but then don’t go crying up to management’s office when I put my foot on the back of your head, and curb stomp you all the way back to Japan. You say we have to fight as one for chances of surviving you? Man, you are forgetting which team has the real psycho. Need I remind you that Jimmy Havoc is the man who beat you for the EBWF Breakout Championship.”

Rollins looked around as the set’s lights began to light up slowly.

“You know, it’s a shame really, Shinsuke, such a waste of a talent here. Maybe you should pack your bags to go back to your previous employer, you just weren’t cut out for this. So while you slowly wait in the dark and dream of brighter days, I will prove again that I am the Man. You have your dark matches with Enzo Amore, because when the spotlight is on, and I finally get my Intercontinental Championship match with him, you will understand why you’re in the dark, and I’m not just IN the light, I AM the light.”

The lights were at their brightest before going back down to no lighting on the set except for a spotlight around Seth Rollins.

“But first, Havoc and I will beat you and the wannabe psycho, and claim the EBWF Tag Team Championships. Then whomever wins that Breakout Championship #1 Contender’s Fatal Four-way will have a nightmare of a night trying to take on Jimmy, and failing. Honestly, I’m hoping Baron Corbin follows my partner’s advice. Then I will beat Enzo Amore for the Intercontinental Championship, and just like that, we’ll be holding all but two championships between Jimmy and I… But you know it’s only a matter of time before we rebuild, redesign, and reclaim those two other championships as well.”

Rollins laughed as he turned the camera off, sending the image to static before fading to black, ending the segment.
