Pain is Temporary

Post by Kyle »

OOC: I was surprised that I managed to write as much as I did. Good luck to D.J, Jack and Will.

Scene 1

Sacrifice was shaping up to be yet another stellar PPV with a stacked card from top to bottom. The main event would be a brutal encounter between John Cena and CM Punk. But before that would be the World Heavyweight Championship match which included AJ Styles, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase and a man who returned to EBWF after being injured for months, The Miz. Fatal Four Way matches were always unpredictable matches, especially with the high calibre wrestlers competing. All of the four could be considered to be the future of EBWF, with long careers ahead of them. There was one more factor that would add to the unpredictability of the match. The special guest referee would be Kevin Nash, a man who has had heated confrontations with the World Champion AJ Styles, lowering the chances of AJ walking out of Minneapolis with his championship. With the heated rivalry between Ted DiBiase and AJ Styles growing, costly interference from Ted gave Cody Rhodes the opportunity to pick up a victory over the World Champion and it was announced that the three men would be competing for the Championship at Sacrifice. However on the final Warfare before Sacrifice, The Miz officially returned to EBWF as AJ's mystery partner in the main event and picked up the win, pinning Ted DiBiase. His return made Nicole Orton place him into the World Championship match changing it from a Triple Threat match to a Fatal Four Way. Ted had history with each of the members in the title match, including the special guest referee. The match would be personal for Ted, wanting to overcome the odds and win the match at Sacrifice.

Logging onto EBWF.net, there was a link to an exclusive video stream featuring Ted DiBiase, who would be answering questions from the EBWF fans. Much to the dismay of Ted he was required to do the video as a part of the build-up to Sacrifice. As the stream began it showed Ted DiBiase sitting in a leather chair wearing a stylish suit from his vast collection and he had his Path to Glory Championship resting over his shoulder. The expression on Ted's face was one of pure disdain. He didn't want to be there, but as a champion it was his responsibility to be involved with the promotion of EBWF shows, especially big Pay Per Views like Sacrifice. Ted sat comfortably in the chair with palm cards in his hand. He looked down at the palm cards before speaking into the camera.

Ted Jr: Welcome everybody; with Sacrifice only a few short days away I have been given the opportunity to answer questions from you the EBWF fans. I will be answering questions sent in and ones that you ask on Twitter by using the hash tag #EBWFSacrificeQuestions.

Ted's voice was flat and monotone, clearly showing his enthusiasm or lack thereof.

Ted Jr: Our first question comes from Matthew from Detroit. He asks: Why is Kevin Nash back in EBWF? I thought he was dead.

Ted looked up from the palm card at the camera.

Ted Jr: I really do hate to steal catchphrases from my opponent but... Really? I thought he was dead? Try to think of something more original. Nash has a mind for the business and he draws, simple.

Ted flipped through the stack of palm cards reading each of them quietly and commenting on them. His comments were being picked up on the video feed.

Ted Jr: Stupid, stupid, not about me, about AJ, something about Trent.

Ted flipped through nearly 10 before finding one that he liked.

Ted Jr: Here we go. I almost lost hope. Cameron from Charlotte asks: You've seemed nearly unstoppable since becoming the Path to Glory Championship, have you held the title longer than CM Punk?

Ted looked on his computer to work out the dates that he had held the title and compared them to Punk's reign.

Ted Jr: CM Punk held my Path to Glory Championship for 185 days, making his reign the longest in the history of the championship. As it stands, I have held the title longer than CM Punk over the course of both of my reigns. As of today, the 27th of July, I have held this title for 180 days in my current reign. Adding my last reign onto that I have held the Path to Glory Championship for an astounding 207 days. I should just rename it the Ted DiBiase championship. I have defeated countless EBWF legends and main event wrestlers. Some of the best in the world have taken me on and failed to defeat me. I have defeated the King of the Ring, CM Punk, the longest reigning EBWF World Heavyweight Champion in history, Randy Orton, and I have also defeated a former 4 time World Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Hardy. I have had more success with this championship than anyone else. Look at the other people who have held this belt. First we have the inaugural champion CM Punk who benefited from holding this belt and ultimately won the EBWF World Championship for the third time in his career. There was Paul London who held onto the championship in between drug testings. We have The Miz who did nothing but weasel his way out of matches; it was effective but not good enough. Then there was the Charismatic Enigma, Jeff Hardy who won the belt and was quickly relieved of it as I made my return to EBWF PPVs and took the belt back after being injured by Paul London and the merry old band of lunatics. Since winning this championship I have taken on all comers and beaten everyone in my path, from Jeff Hardy to Orton to Jimmy Jacobs. I have been unstoppable as Path to Glory Champion. I bided my time and looking back I challenged Styles prematurely. Styles and I took each other to the limit and performed in what I would call the match of the year. I had it won for all money, but AJ got lucky and managed to pick up the victory. He retained the championship but I didn't let up. I am challenging AJ for his championship this Sunday and I guarantee that he will not be walking out of the Target Center with that belt around his waist.

Ted looked towards the computer to see what questions were being asked on Twitter.

Ted Jr: @RKOHardy973 says: AJ is gunna win at #Sacrifice your nothin but a loser #MillionDollarChump #EBWFSacrificeQuestions

Ted shook his head and dropped his head in disappointment.

Ted Jr: You're obviously a small child and a key part of EBWF's target audience but you can go to hell. You see this?

Ted lifted his Path to Glory Championship up slightly.

Ted Jr: This means that I am better than you. You see this suit? This cost more than your parents make in a year. I can buy whatever I want and I can do whatever I want. In life there are winners and losers and right now you call me a loser but when you're getting welfare payments and have no job at all then you'll realise that I am not a loser. I have money, I have style, I have more than you could imagine.

Ted scrolled down the screen past the question. He stopped once he found a good one.

Ted Jr: @wrestlesmark says: @EBWF plugging twitter? Why don't you copy @WWE some more?

Ted Jr: And why don't enlighten me on your vast amounts of wrestling and business knowledge? Oh, you can't? I thought so. Get off your computer and get a girlfriend.

Ted continued to scroll down his computer screen before closing the web browser that had twitter open.

Ted Jr: So that is all the Twitter questions that I'm going to take. I never wanted to do this, but apparently being a champion means I have to do these crappy things. I'll read out one more question and then I'm out of here. I've been here too damn long.

Ted picked a palm card at random and read it before announcing it to the viewers.

Ted Jr: This is actually a decent question. Travis from Indiana wants me to run through the Sacrifice line up and give my thoughts on each match. First off there is Billy Gunn vs Chris Sabin vs Drew McIntyre. I don't really care about this match at all, but I think Sabin will win. He's quick, athletic and has the tools to be a success; hopefully he can show off the skills that he has.

Ted had to open the browser to see the full list of matches on the card.

Ted Jr: Next is The Rock vs Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus. Tooth Fairy vs Goatface vs Casper the Irish Ghost. I really don't care about this match so I'll pick the Tooth Fairy walk away with the win.

Ted Jr: Christian vs Evan Bourne has the experienced Canadian taking on the kid from St. Louis. Expect a lot of big spots from Bourne, but I'll lean towards the veteran Christian to get the win.

Ted looked further down the list.

Ted Jr: Here we go! The first real match will see my associate, Bully Ray taking on the gaming nerd Trent Barreta in a Hardcore match for the Breakout Championship. The title is not the issue here, the feud has become personal. Poor choice by Barreta to ask for this match. I see him being annihilated by Bully and put through at least one table.

Ted Jr: Then we will see Mr Kennedy defend his Intercontinental Championship for the first time since winning it at Aftermath against Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger. I see Dolph walking out as the new champ. He has all the tools to be in the main event in the coming years.

With only 3 more matches left on the card, Ted was waiting to talk about his match.

Ted Jr: Next we have the main event... just kidding it’s only the Divas match. This could end up being a decent match if they are given the time to compete. The most important match is coming up next.

Ted tapped his Path to Glory Championship.

Ted Jr: I will be trading in this Path to Glory Championship for a shiny World Heavyweight Championship when I defeat Cody Rhodes, The Miz and AJ Styles. It will be a brutal match with many personal feuds. With Kevin Nash as the Special Guest Referee, don't expect to see AJ walk out with the World Championship.

The final match on the card featured John Cena and CM Punk, a bitter feud which was set to be finished. Ted's voice lowered slightly as he began to speak about the Sacrifice main event.

Ted Jr: The final match will end a feud that has consumed CM Punk and John Cena. I should change my wording. The final match will be the Fatal Four Way World Heavyweight Championship match. John Cena vs CM Punk will not be a wrestling match. John Cena vs CM Punk will be a fight. There will be blood, there will be pain and only one of them will be walking out of the Target Center on their own two feet. CM Punk, as deranged as he was when he and I had our rivalry, he has become obsessed with John Cena and permanently removing him from his life. John Cena has gone from boy scout to stalker. As seen on the last Warfare, he has become a completely different person. I don't want to be in Cena's shoes when CM Punk enters that ring. I will not choose a winner as there will not be a winner. There will only be two broken bodies at the end of the night.

The video feed ended on a sombre note. Even though Ted's highlight would be his Championship match, it was all overshadowed by the main event. After Cena's actions on Warfare and over the last several months, the main event would be hellacious.

Scene 2

After having his exclusive talk with the EBWF fans online, Ted was off to a house show, the final show before Sacrifice. In a few short days Ted would be presented another opportunity to win the World Heavyweight Championship. To fail at another PPV would be terrible. Ted had been in the gym since Warfare, training extremely hard. He had been pushing the intensity higher and higher, he wanted success so bad. Ted didn't waste any motions. Every action, every thought, every movement, every breath, all strived to complete the one task: Win the World Heavyweight Championship. At the house show the average sized crowd was electric. The venue was small but the crowd made the atmosphere so much better. They were screaming and yelling and cheering and booing. All to support EBWF and the superstars and divas performing. After a very competitive divas match, Heroes by Shinedown played around the arena. The crowd erupted into boos as Ted DiBiase walked down to the ring by himself. Instead of wearing his standard suit and tie, Ted was dressed as if he was about to compete. Ted wore his Path to Glory Championship around his waist and he entered the ring. Ted quickly received a microphone and began to speak to the crowd.

Ted Jr: As you may have noticed, my associate Bully Ray is not with me at this point in time. Bully is currently preparing for a Hardcore demolition of Trent Barreta and he chose not to come here because speaking to you people was a waste of his time.

The crowd began to boo Ted. It was a standard heel move to get a reaction from the crowd.

Ted Jr: I am here but not because I want to see any of you, I just want the money. With Sacrifice only a couple of days away what better to promote it than to bring back an old talk show. It was the highlight of EBWF. I'm talking about the one and only Priceless Corner. Now I have several guests here for you, so let's not waste any more time. My first guest is one of my opponents in the World Heavyweight Championship match, my former partner Cody Rhodes!

Requiem for a Dream began to play as Cody Rhodes walked out from the backstage area. This wasn't the Cody Rhodes that the EBWF fans knew. This Cody Rhodes was about 38, balding with a mask over his face. The crowd recognized that this was an imposter and began to boo. The imposter Cody held brown paper bags in his hand and shielded his face with the other. After getting into the ring he walked over and grabbed a microphone from a crew member.

Ted Jr: Welcome to the show, Cody. So what’s it like to be in your first World Title match on Sunday?

The fake Cody still tried to cover his face from the crowd.

Fake Cody: ... I'm a monster.

The fake Cody tried to copy the real Cody Rhodes' voice but failed terribly.

Ted Jr: Interesting. Facing three other people is no easy feat. How will you be able to overcome this?

The fake Cody covered his face before yelling at Ted.

Fake Cody: Don't look at me! I'm hideous.

Ted was trying to act like this was the real Cody Rhodes but he had a grin on his face for most of the time. Ted approached the fake Cody and pulled his hand away from his face to reveal a line across his face. However instead of it being a large scar, it was nothing more than permanent marker over the face of the fake Cody.

Ted Jr: You're not kidding about being hideous are you? You never were the looks in the team.

Ted moved away from the fake Cody shaking his head.

Ted Jr: My next guest is another former partner of mine and another man that I'll be facing on Sunday.

AWEEEEEEEEESOMEEEEEEEEEE!

I Came To Play by Downstait burst over the PA as the crowd gave a mixed reaction some cheered the man from Cleveland, Ohio, while others booed him. The Miz walked out from behind the back but like Cody Rhodes, he was another imposter. This time "The Miz" was an overweight, pasty loser who wore The Miz's old Chick Magnet shirt as he walked down to the ring. The shirt barely fit the man as he entered the ring and received a microphone.

Ted Jr: Welcome back to EBWF, Miz. Nice to see that you want to return at my expense. After all I did for you and AJ, you repay me like this? Not cool, man. Not cool at all. So I'm guessing that you're going to say that you'll be walking out of the Target Center as the new World Champion?

Fake Miz: Woo Woo Woo You Know It!

The fake Miz made the LI sign with his hands, now imitating Zack Ryder.

Ted Jr: Wrong person. You're The Miz, not Ryder.

The fake Miz suddenly remembered his catchphrase.

Ted Jr: So why will you win at Sacrifice?

Fake Miz: BECAUSE I'M THE MIZ!

The fake Miz performed exactly like the real Miz would, apart from the Zack Ryder impersonation.

Fake Miz: AND I'M AWE-

Wherever I May Roam by Metallica burst onto the PA and the crowd erupted for the World Champion. AJ Styles appeared to the crowd and the cheers quickly turned to boos. A skinny young man who weighed 100 pounds wet walked down to the ring with a fake replica title over his shoulder. The fake AJ even wrote on his side AJ, mocking the tattoo that AJ has.

Ted stood in the corner trying not to laugh. He had a huge grin on his face.

Ted Jr: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the World Heavyweight Champion, AJ STYLES!

The fake AJ entered the ring and raised his replica belt.

Ted Jr: Do you have any words for your opponents before Sacrifice?

Ted handed AJ his microphone and AJ took centre stage as he stood in the middle of the ring.

Fake AJ: At Sacrifice I'm gonna beat every single one and do everything in my power to walk out of Minneapolis still the World Heavyweight Champion!

The fake AJ tried to have a southern style accent, but like the other imposters, he was a poor actor. Ted walked up to the fake AJ and took the microphone.

Ted Jr: Inspirational words AJ. Now it's my turn.

Before Ted spoke he hit the fake AJ with the microphone and floored him. The fake Miz and Cody looked on in shock. Ted charged at the fake Rhodes who was in the corner and levelled him with a vicious clothesline. He then turned his attention to the fake Miz, who was now on his knees pleading for mercy. Ted looked to have a change of heart and put out his hand and mouthed out "It's alright.” The fake Miz took the bait and gave Ted his hand. Once the Miz was to his feet, Ted quickly turned him and delivered a devastating Dream Street.

The ring was full of broken bodies, with Ted standing triumphant. Ted picked up one of the microphones that was on the mat and looked around at his fine work.

Ted Jr: You see this? You see what I can do? Granted on Sunday I will not be facing actors, I can assure you that this image will remain the same. I will rise to the top. Do you want to know why? It's because I'm hungry for it. Since the 2010 I have been hungry for the belt. Since returning from injury I've been hungry. I will go the extra mile, I'll take that extra bit of pain, and I’ll endure just that little bit more because when it's all said and done it will be worth it. Cody Rhodes wouldn't be in this match if it weren't for my help, just like the Miz wouldn't be here if it wasn't for me. AJ Styles will not walk away with the title, I won't let him. I will do everything possible to win. If I have to lose millions to get that title, I'd do it. If I had to beat up my own father, I'd do it too. I don't care who I have to hurt, I don't care what I have to do. As long as my hand is raised and I am declared the NEW World Heavyweight Champion. On Sunday I will step foot in the ring with the best EBWF has to offer. I will fight with every breath in my body to pick up that win. And when I become your new World Champion, things are going to change around here.

Ted threw the microphone to the ground and left the ring as Heroes played once again. The crowd booed Ted as he walked back up the ramp. He didn't acknowledge any of the fans in their attempts to disturb him.

Scene 3

The day had finally arrived. Sunday at the Target Center in Minneapolis was where Ted was. Ted sat in his locker room quietly. He didn't say anything, he didn't make any noises. You could hear a pin drop in the room. Ted was focused and hell bent on becoming the World Champion. Every thought and every action leading up to this night had been about the World Championship. Ted had lost sleep thinking about regaining the title that had eluded him for so long. As Ted sat down running through the match in his head he was interrupted as the door to his locker room opened and Michael Cole entered Ted's locker room with a camera man. Cole turned back to the camera man before approaching Ted.

Michael Cole: Are you all ready?

The camera man nodded and the two approached Ted.

Michael Cole: Ted! So good to see you. I know we haven't spent much time together since the Trilogy dissolved, but I still want to be a part of the group. Can I join you and Bully in the New Trilogy?

Ted looked up from his seated position and saw Cole. His words went in one ear and out the other. Ted looked back down and kept focused on his match.

Michael Cole: ... ok then. No to the Trilogy idea. Can I get a couple of words from you before your match tonight?

Ted looked up again and realised that Cole wouldn't leave without getting some words from him. So Ted stood up and the camera focused on the two of them. Before starting the interview, Cole spoke to the camera man.

Michael Cole: We can edit out that earlier stuff can't we?

The camera man nodded once again and so Cole began the interview.

Michael Cole: Welcome everybody to Minneapolis, Minnesota where EBWF is holding Sacrifice live tonight. In our main event we have a Street Fight featuring CM Punk and John Cena who have been at each other for months. But before that AJ Styles will be defending his EBWF World Heavyweight Championship against The Miz, Cody Rhodes and the man next to me at this time, Ted DiBiase. So Ted, how have you been preparing for this match and how is this different from your match at the King of the Ring PPV?

Ted Jr: The difference between my match at the King of the Ring and my match tonight is that I don't have to beat AJ Styles to win the championship. I can defeat Cody Rhodes just like I did at Wrestlemania, and that will get me the World Championship. Or I could beat The Miz to a pulp and ruin his little return. I have three different people to contend with and it makes it much harder to prepare for. I could be in control of one of them and I could still lose if I miss a quick roll up or a small package. I need to keep my eyes open and not be intently focused on one.

Michael Cole: Does the late addition of The Miz change anything to your preparation?

Ted Jr: Not really. The Miz is an opportunist. He'll hold back and stay out of harm’s way before pouncing when the opportunity presents itself. The way to stop that is to not give him an opportunity. If I take the fight to him there is no way he can hide.

Michael Cole: One of the biggest factors in this match is going to be the Special Guest Referee, Kevin Nash. It has been documented that he and AJ's relationship has been very sour. That added with the fact that he has called you the next big thing, saying that you have the total package seems to be a very high compliment from the wrestling veteran. Does that praise indicate that you might receive some questionable officiating?

Ted Jr: Somebody likes what I do? Is that a surprise to anyone? I have been the most underrated individual in EBWF for a very long time. I've been here for nearly four years and I've been in the main event scene for 3 months. I have always aimed to steal the show and I have always given 100% every single night. What has held me down was the backstage politics. Everybody knows that if you aren't close with the almighty Wes Ikeda you will never be anything big. Look at Punk, look at Cena and look at Orton. Three very big examples of people who have been close to Wes, one way or another, and have become World Champions. Look at AJ Styles now, rallying against Kevin Nash with Wes Ikeda on Twitter. He's the golden boy in EBWF and I'm the black sheep. I have the complete package to be a legend, but I will never reach that stage. I will never become the greatest of all time, even though I have the skills. I, unlike many others, will not suck up to the boss to get a title shot. People have said for years that I have never achieved anything for myself and it was all my father's doing. It wasn't my father that won my titles for me, and it wasn't my father that wrestled for me. For nearly four years I have given everything for this business. When I lost everything in my life I had wrestling. When my wife left me, I was busting my ass trying to please these people. Did they care that my marriage ended because of them? Hell no. All they cared about was their golden boys, the John Cena’s, the AJ Styles’ and the CM Punk’s. Did I have anyone say thank you for my services? No. I had people spit on me, hurl abuse at me and treat me like I was a criminal. I have given my life to this business and everything I have done leads to one thing. Perfection. To be perfect I need to become the best. To be the best I need that World Championship. Tonight I will achieve perfection and I will become the World Champion.

Michael Cole: Any final words for The Miz, Cody Rhodes or AJ Styles?

Ted Jr: Don't expect to walk out of the Target Center with the World Championship. I will become the World Heavyweight Champion not because I have a stupid catchphrase. Not because I wear a mask and hand out paper bags. And certainly not because I suck up to the boss. I will win tonight because I have to. I have sacrificed more than anybody to get to where I am today. Tonight, I will do everything possible to walk out with the championship. If there are broken bones, blood and concussions required to win then that is what it will take. I will put my body on the line to win this match. The question to all of you is what will you sacrifice in order to achieve success? Are you willing to bleed? Are you willing to hurt? Because I am. A wise man said that when you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you'll be successful. I have reached that point now. There is nothing I want or need more than the EBWF World Championship.

Ted walked off from Michael Cole and he was left to wrap up the interview.

Michael Cole: That was Ted DiBiase everyone. Who will walk out of the Target Center as World Champion: Cody Rhodes, The Miz, Ted DiBiase or will AJ Styles retain? Stay tuned to find out.

Damn good RP, Kyle. I have to agree with DJ, this is one of your best pieces. You really outdid yourself with this one. Good Luck!
