The Strongest of Styles

Dirty and run down bricks fill the screen. Bricks held together with blood, sweat and tears just as much as they are held together with mortar. As the screen pulls back wider it's revealed that these bricks take the shape of a building, a gym in particular, in the village of Rampton, Cambridgeshire. In front of the building we see Michael Cole whom stands next to a rough looking bearded figure stood tall and straight with one arm placed behind his back and the other extended towards his neck with his hand gripping the collar on his coat.

Ladies and gentlemen today I'm in the town of Rampton, Cambridgeshire in England. I'm joined today by new EBWF signing Timothy Thatcher outside his childhood gym where he first began, as he calls it, fighting. Timothy it came as a surprise to many when you were listed on the card for this Monday's Warfare. There wasn't much fanfare when it came to your signing and as I'm beginning to gather it seems you prefer it that way.

)(Thatcher)(

I make it no secret that I prefer to keep my matters private. For those that know me my signing was no surprise. You see I'm fresh off of dominating EVOLVE and now I've set my sights on the EBWF. I go where the competition dictates and right now the competition is here. I don't need a parade to sing my praises, my work stands on it's own. That brings me to my opponent for my debut match, Matt Sydal. You see Mr. Sydal is everything I am not. He is loud, he is brash and he is untrained in the true arts of combat. He is the modern wrestler, more concerned with fame then his sport. He is a sports entertainer. I have no wish to be a sports entertainer because I entertain with my sport. This sport we used to call wrestling stood for something once. It was a battle of wits, two titans going at it pitting their bodies and minds against one another. Reversals and chain wrestling are a things of the past, thrown aside for flashy flips and loud personas. That's why I'm here Mr. Cole, I'm here to elevate EBWF to the status I know it can stand for. When all is said and done I will make sure EBWF is known for the strongest of styles and Matt Sydal is going to be the first student of that lesson. Matt is the perfect first opponent for me because when people see what I do to him they are going to give me their attention.

The camera cuts and Thatcher quickly says his goodbyes to the crew and Michael Cole before getting into his car. The ride back was a long one, plenty of time to contemplate the facade that Thatcher puts on for the camera. The fact is that Thatcher wasn't even in Rampton. The building was some rundown brick building in a small town in Tennessee. Thatcher wasn't even English, he lived in Sacramento and grew up in Pennsylvania. He was born to Portuguese and English parents so he identified with that side of his heritage. As far as gimmicks went his wasn't too hard to maintain but one thing wasn't a gimmick, his love of wrestling. He was a wrestlers wrestler so to speak and he liked it that way. There is a little bit of truth in every wrestlers gimmick, a twisted vision of who they should be or who they really are. A peak into their very soul and Thatcher's persona was just that.

EBWF.NET EXCLUSIVE

After the interview with Michael Cole many are left wondering about Timothy Thatcher so I'm here to break down who and what he is all about. Timothy Thatcher, otherwise known as the British Messiah, has modeled his style and career path after the greats before him. Heavily influenced by British strong style wrestlers of old, Timothy wrestles a very aggressive but technical style. Respected but also feared by his peers in EVOLVE, TImothy quickly climbed the ladder to obtain the top prize and become EVOLVES world champion. A no non-sense mans man who would rather beat you in the ring then on the mic. It will be interesting to see how his style clashes with the sometimes loud and flashy members of the EBWF roster. It's still unclear if Thatcher has his sights set on a target or if he is just truly out to bring strong style back to the forefront of the industry. EBWF is already home to the proclaimed King of Strong Style and former Breakout Champion Shinsuke Nakamura so how will Nakamura react when suddenly there is a claim on the crown. Regardless of all of this Thatcher brings with him a die hard following who love the aggressive style of his wrestling so Thatcher does not arrive to his first match alone. Matt Sydal wrestles a very different style compared to Thatcher so it will be interesting to see how Thatcher changes his normal game plan to combat Sydal's high flying abilities. All eyes are on Thatcher as he opens up Warfare this Monday only on A&E.
