The following is an extract from The Sam Roberts Wrestling podcast

….Fink: It's now time for the Sam Roberts wrestling interview

Sam: I'm joined at this time by Co host Katie Linendoll and Baron Corbin of The Broken. Hello Baron, what's the haps?

Baron: Things are going well.

Sam: Let's get straight into this. You've had a varied career before finding your current spot. Has your past accomplishments helped you transition to where you are today?

Baron: Yes! No more questions about the past though, where I've been isn't where I'm going.

Sam: And where are you hoping to go?

Baron: Where is anyone in this business wanting to go? I want to get to the top of this industry and go down in history.

Sam: We've seen your on screen persona go through changes recently. Are you happier as part of The Broken and how did it come about?

Baron: It was Jimmy Havoc's idea, he approached me backstage with the idea. It seems like a better fit than Robbie Brookside so far, we have more fun. Brookside has been around the business forever & I learned a lot from the guy but as I've already alluded to, I'm more concerned about what's coming than what has been.

Katie: What is coming is a title shot, right? Congratulations on your number one contenders spot for the intercontinental championship. It seems as if this could cause tension between you and fellow stable mate Seth Rollins. Care to comment?

Baron: First of all, The Broken are not a stable, we are an entity like nothing you've seen before, a brotherhood that will continue to dominate. You'll see! As for the so called tension between Rollins and myself, there is no backstage tension, we are cool. When we step in the ring and the title is on the line business will go down and the better man on that night will walk out with the IC belt until then, after then there will be no problems. With all due respect to both of you, you can't break The Broken and that includes relationships within our group.

Sam: Talk to me more about this new Baron Corbin. Killing? Stalking? And… this is almost gimmick infringement… burning the place the ground.

Baron: When I transitioned over to the company the original idea was to carry on as I had been elsewhere but something wasn't gelling, the Broken thing just works better, it… just works. I get to explore parts of myself the old character wouldn't have allowed, also when I'm on the road I may as well be with guys my age rather than Robbie. I know I don't look it but I'm exactly the same age as Seth so, bonus. As for burning the place to the ground? You could well have been my inspiration there Sam but let's keep that between you, me and your thousands of listeners. The Broken works for all involved. Plus, it's fun and that's what keeps us sane when you've got our schedule. Well, not Havoc. That m[BEEEEP]r is legit crazy.

Sam: What can we expect to see next from Baron Corbin?

Baron: Now you're asking the right questions! On this week's Warfare I've got Carlito. What do you think my chances are?

Katie: Against Carlito? Interesting! No, anyone who can take down Dalton Castle is heading in the right direction in my book. CAW.

Sam: The Colon's are a fighting family. With that blood flowing in his veins, I don't think you can look too far past Carlito.

Baron: That's cool! Wait… no, not cool, I have no intention of overlooking Carlito. I know exactly where he's been and despite how it may appear on screen I do have respect for this business. The guy has something to prove after his absence from EBWF and I know he'll be looking to use me to send a message. That is very cool with me, I can promise you, every time I step between the ropes I'm looking to send a message. A lot of the hype about me being difficult to work with is blown out of proportion but one thing is true. I have a chip on my shoulder. I'm a relative newcomer but as I said to Nakamura all those months ago. I don't wait in line. Patience is a virtue that is lacking in me I'm afraid. I want big things, I expect big things out of myself and every member of the Broken. That's another thing we Broken have in common. I don't want to associate with anyone other than the future of the EBWF and neither do they. That's why I needed to dump Robbie, he was legitimately holding me back.

Sam: Where is Robbie Brookside? We see him on twitter once in awhile but he's strangely missing from our screens.

Baron: This is going to sound extreme but I really don't care. We've parted ways so what he does is none of my concern. I had a text from him wishing me all the best but I didn't reply. The couple of times I've seen him backstage I've walked the other way

Katie: No chance of a reunion then?

Baron: I'm not sure Robbie would suit being part of The Broken and that's the only place I have any desire to be

Katie: Aha, so if he did want to be part…?

Baron: Now you're twisting my words. I have no desire to work with anybody other than the members of The Broken. It's that simple.

Sam: But is there room for The Broken to grow and increase their numbers?

Baron: That's the wrong question, to be part of us you yourself have to be truly Broken.

Sam: And are there any other Broken souls or whatever in EBWF?

Baron: There is at least one individual who we've identified as being worthy.

Sam: One individual? I'd love to press you further on the point but we're out of time….

======

Scene opens on Baron Corbin in what appears to be a very exotic beach location. He is shirtless and in some terrible camo swim shorts laid on a black towel and messing around with a tablet. The familiar sound of Skype dial up is heard after a few seconds the call connects.

Baron: So what is the meaning of this week’s life lesson? Do you need me to be more tanned because you’re not looking pale enough or something?

Jimmy: ‘Ha-ha’ Very funny. First off, you’re probably wondering why I’m not there right? Quite frankly it’s none of your bloody business! However, if you must know, I’m back in the UK. Spending time with my parents whilst i’m not on Warfare and all that. Secondly, I sent you there because I wanted you to get into the mindset of someone like Carlito. Someone who has been given it all way too easily, even when he wasn't big time he got to work his fathers shows. You and I however, have had to scratch and claw at any sort of opportunity. Be it, myself in the indies or you, at the NFL shite or whatever you call it. I was going to actually send you to a beach, but then I realised you don’t deserve a fucking holiday. Have fun!

The Skype call ends abruptly as we pan out to reveal the whole scene is actually a large set

Baron: No expense spared, and less likely to contract hepatitis so I’m certainly not going to whine about not being in Colon turf. There we have it subject of the say is obviously Carlito Caribbean Cool. For the record he isn't. Being relevant is not something you can judge on a scale in the you have been trying all this time. This is not the 1980's… wait that’s an era you weren’t part of, what is your act anyway? I’m confused! Back to my point, if you want an example of relevant then I implore you to go to twitter and look up #TheBroken. We are what is happening in this industry right now.

Corbin stands up and walks a few steps away from the set. He recovers his clothes, Broken tee, black jeans and DM boots and begins to dress

Baron: Carlito, on reflection, you have been irrelevant your entire life. I would hate to be in your shoes, looking up to a man who's legacy I knew I had no chance to surpass. What parent would be proud to call you a son? If I'm the big bad wolf then Carlito, you are the runt of a bad litter. I heard you were supposed to end up in a bucket when you were a gleam in Carlos Senior’s eye. Is that true? I hate to think what the competition looked like if you were what won the race. But enough of the attack on your character. That's the least of your worries, I am going to assault you in the ring and send you back to your family. Perhaps they'll receive you as a whole mangled and ruined, battered.

Corbin licks his lips before shouting the next word.

Baron:BROKEN. Perhaps not though, perhaps it would be more fitting if I returned you as something else entirely, perhaps as ashes in a jar you would at least serve the purpose of being decorative. If you want me to I can create a bit of a bonfire, Jimmy tells me we're a little early for Guy Fawkes but as an early celebration, that could be, what is is the word? Cool! I don't know, the final arrangements still need to be made.

Baron removes his zippo from his pocket.

Baron: No, I have it. My grand idea, since we're at the beach is to have a celebration, a barbecue.

Baron lights up the backdrop of the set and stands back to admire his work. He paces out of view of the camera all of a sudden the swim shorts fly through the air into the now growing flames. Baron shuffles back into scene wearing his tee but with he is still in the process of doing his jeans back up.

Baron: Something has just occurred to me Carlito, you're lucky. I'm burning down a replica of the place you call home. If Jimmy was here you'd probably be watching me stab one of your relatives instead. That's okay though, you can take this as a warning. You can't break The Broken. Try and we might cut you. How do you like dem apples?
