The scene opens as Jimmy Havoc sits in a dark room, on a chair in front of a table. He isn’t donning his usual gear, this time it is a red and black “The Broken” Tee, a red mask and long blood red jacket. The table he sits in front of is white, with an empty chair on the opposite side of him, as if there would be a guest joining him. Jimmy doesn’t make a noise, he sits silently on the chair with his elbows on the table and his hands together. A knock is heard but still Havoc doesn’t move an inch, the door slowly creeps open after a few seconds.
??? - “…Hello? Jimmy?”
Jimmy again, refuses to move. A man enters the room with a clipboard, his face is unknown at this point as the room is way too dark. You can hear footsteps approaching very slowly, the chair scrapes as the man pulls it outwards. He sits down and as the light slowly covers the mans face, it is revealed to be Michael Cole!
Cole – “You requested me personally…why?”
Havoc’s eyes widen as his fingers come away from each other, he reaches behind his head and unclips his mask. As it becomes unclipped, he holds it in his hands and stares at it for a while. Eventually he places the mask on the table and looks straight into Michael Cole’s eyes.
Havoc – “You are very good at your job, aren’t you? I need someone who is good at interviewing to conduct this fucking interview! Maybe I was wrong, huh?”
Havoc began to get annoyed as Cole retreated back into his seat.
Cole – “No, I assure you I am quite capable of conducting this interview, do you mind if I let the camera crew in?”
Havoc nods as Cole goes over to the door and lets in the camera crew, he sits back down and motions to the crew to start rolling.
Cole – “Thank you for joining me on this EBWF.com exclusive! Joining me at this time, The EBWF Breakout Champion, One half of the EBWF Tag Team Champions and the de facto leader of The Broken…Jimmy Havoc!”
Jimmy lifts his head up slightly but does not speak.
Cole – “We head into Salt Lake City on Monday where Jimmy Havoc takes on Sami Zayn who has defeated 2 members of The Broken already in Seth Rollins and Baron Corbin. Jimmy, do you see Sami as a force to be reckoned with?”
Havoc hesitates for a second before answering.
Havoc – “What sort of bloody question is that? Are you the best EBWF actually has? Of course I see Sami as a force to be reckoned with. You cannot deny Sami Zayn’s accomplishments in this business, he is the greatest underdog in the history of EBWF, PWG, ROH and wherever the hell else he’s been in this world of professional wrestling. When Sami Zayn walked out of the curtain against Chris Jericho, for the EBWF World Championship I was one of the biggest supporters of Sami in the back. I wanted Sami to stand tall at the end of the show having finally beaten all the odds…and he just couldn’t do it. I was wholeheartedly disappointed in Sami, I was 100% behind him beating a Corporate Champion like Jericho and he just fucking blew it.”
Cole – “Surely this is just mind games? You don’t actually think that people think you’re a Sami Zayn fan?”
Havoc – “You think I give a fuck what people think about me? You can think all you want Michael, you can make believe that when I come out that curtain I surround myself in blood in dark rooms and listen to fucking My Chemical Romance. At the end of the day, I didn’t like Jericho as Champion and a lot of people knew that. I wanted Sami Zayn to win.”
Cole motions to Havoc to look around the room, in an attempt to show Havoc that he is infact in a dark room.
Havoc – “Shut up and move on or else.”
Cole – “No problem, What is your game plan going into this match knowing that Sami Zayn has beaten two of your stablemates beforehand?”
Havoc – “Simple, Don’t make the same mistakes Baron and Seth did. It’s been a constant motto that I’ve lived by through my whole run here in EBWF. Never underestimate…I’ve never underestimated anyone in this company, from Baron Corbin to Tyler Breeze to Timothy Thatcher. Everyone has been put against me for some reason and I need to respect that in every way possible, sure I’m a “bad guy” and I’m not supposed to be nice but you will never say that I don’t take every opponent as if the where my last opponents in this company.”
Cole – “That’s a very admiral way of thinking, do you think Sami Zayn will underestimate you?”
Havoc – “Of couse he won’t. We’ve faced once before and at that time, he underestimated me and paid for it. He didn’t advance in the Tag Team Classic. I and Seth however, went all the way. Sami Zayn knows what he is in for. He’s in for a god damn fight, one of the biggest ones he’s going to get in recent memory. I have literally nothing to lose, I’m a champion in this company and this is just a small little match that I’ve been put in my management to keep me fresh because they need me for Fanniversary, The Broken are the god damn faces of this company, we own 4 Championship belts, we are on the website, the banners inside EBWF HQ, the programmes, the cups, the posters, THE GOD DAMN SEATS! Where is Sami Zayn in all of that? Where has he even been since beating Baron? Where was a “big star” like Sami on the PPV?”
Cole – “Sami was apart of the triple threat for the PTG Championship, admittedly he lost, but he put up a good fight.”
Havoc – “So what gives him the right to be able to face The Broken?! Shouldn’t we be doing our own thing instead of reaching too far for those brass rings thinking we can take on the ‘Mighty Underdog’?! You know what I think this is?! This is management wanting to keep us busy by keeping our hands full with Sami, so we don’t take over the whole company. We’re out there doing our thing and you see thousands of people out there with “The Broken” T-Shirts and “Kill Havoc Kill” Shirts and you wanna know why Michael? Do you?”
Cole – “I would love to hear what you have to say…”
Cole said this with a hint of sarcasm.
Havoc – “You should really watch your tone in here with me, you think these cameramen will save you from a beating? Watch it. Anyway, yeah, you wanna know why? It’s because we’re different. We’re not the usual cookie cutter, dance to the ring with a nice theme song, tell the crowd how much they mean to us, happy go lucky fucking bullshit! We are the odd one’s out, we are the difference this company needed. Do you want another Sami Zayn Main Event or do you want to see Jimmy Havoc vs. AJ Styles, Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton, The Broken vs. Rated RKO. You have to admit they are breathes of fresh air Michael?!”
Cole stirred a little bit in his chair, uncomfortably.
Cole – “Well, those match-ups do sound very intriguing but, you must know that the EBWF Universe love Sami Zayn? I’m pretty sure that they’d want to see Sami vs. AJ Styles for the title like next week!”
Havoc – “I’m sure they would Michael but, what happens when Sami loses that match? What happens when the fan finally realise that Sami Zayn is just all words. Sure he could beat me quite easily tonight but then he moves onto another match against The Miz, Kevin Owens, PJ Black. Beat’s them all and gets those little fans hearts fluttering because their boy is FINALLY gonna do it this time, HE TOLD THEM SO! Phenomenal Forearm! 1…2…3. AJ Styles is STILL your EBWF World Champion…. Those fans’ minds start to turn…maybe Sami can’t actually win the big one? Maybe he’s destined to chase forever, never to be the one being chased. It’s happened time and time again, do you remember Dolph Ziggler? The guy that always got to the top of the mountain and fell harder than anyone I’ve seen before. Dolph is the literal meaning of “Too big for his britches” in the fact that, he thought he was world title material and when it came down to it he just couldn’t cope with the best of them. Sami is going to end up that way if he keeps going the way he is, he’s going to keep letting his own adoring fans down and they’re going to eventually resent him. He’ll end up crying down a camera and threatening to go to Connecticut, like he’s some sort of superstar.”
Cole – “Wow Jimmy, some very harsh words there too Dolph and Sami! To change up the pace a little bit, if you don’t mind. You’ve talked about Sami a lot and what I would like to know is, what does this match mean to you?”
Havoc – “You really want to know what this match means to me? This probably means everything to me, where my stablemates have fallen I HAVE to pick them all back up. I NEED to show everyone that The Broken isn’t just another flash in the pan that isn’t worth jack shit. I NEED to show that we are the unbeatable force that we are, that I know we can be. To me, this is probably everything I’ve ever needed in this business…sure I’ve got titles and as re-assuring as they are. They aren’t enough, I can walk into any company and win a title. To beat one of the utmost icons in this industry, I would say it was a dream come true but, I see it more as a career making challenge. In the UK, we heard about El Generico, Kevin Steen, Samoa Joe and Punk absolutely tearing the indy scene to pieces and we could only watch in awe. Now, I have a chance to prove that I can hang with all those guys, I can prove to the fucking world that I’m not just this Villain that has been brought up so all the good guys can beat and get the fans cheering. I can prove that I deserve to be here, all the work in PROGRESS, wXw, ICW, RevPro will finally really and truly mean something for once. When I first joined Michael, people were laughing, joking about saying how I’m not ‘up to standard’ or how I don’t ‘fit’ in with the rest of these motherfuckers in the locker room. I sat there and took the abuse from the likes of Nakamura, Karl Anderson, Raven, Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler and so on, I sat there and took it. Now, I’m above them, spitting on them from up here to see if it hurts when it fucking lands. Baron was smart enough to actually catch onto this and joined us, the rest though, well they paid a mighty fine price didn’t they?”
Cole – “Maybe this wasn’t such a bad idea after all, we’re starting to uncover small parts of Jimmy Havoc that might be human”
Havoc smiled and laughed.
Havoc – “Don’t get it twisted though Cole, I’m still the biggest problem that EBWF have currently on their roster. Just because this fucking maniac has a backstory does not ‘humanize’ me. The Undertaker had a backstory, was he ever considered human? I don’t think so, I’m not comparing myself to The Undertaker here obviously, although I’d smash his fucking face in if we ever went deathmatch style. That’s another story for another day, right now I have to go out there tonight and beat Sami Zayn in a straight 1-on-1 match up. It’ll be hard, that I know. I will give every little inch of breath that I have in my god damn body just to prove to Sami, management, EBWF Fans and most importantly…myself that I deserve to be here. I love this fucking wrestling business; this is who I’m supposed to be. I’m the god damn bad guy! Razor Ramon wishes he was as despicable as me. Every Company needs a cookie cutter good guy and every company needs a whacked out bad dude. It’s just the good guys who get stale quickly. Trust me Michael, in a few years down the line, we’ll do another interview and we’ll be talking about how great Sami Zayn WAS and how great Jimmy Havoc IS.”
Cole – “Well, some very strong words there from Jimmy Havoc. Let’s hope that we’ll be in for a great match up! Thanks everyone for joining us….”
Havoc – “Wait, you think I’m done?”
Cole – “Erm, We have to wrap this up Jim.”
Havoc – “Do you know why I wanted you especially Michael? Did you actually believe that I thought you were the best interview in this hell hole? I couldn’t give a fuck who you are, there Is one little aspect of you that I liked however. You used to be a War Correspondent right? So you know how Death looks…and feels?”
Cole once again, felt really uncomfortably and retreated into his chair.
Cole – “It was one of the most harrowing experiences of my life…”
Havoc – “That’s how a normal person would feel, Congratulations Michael…you are a sheep like the rest of them. Death is a release, a wave of new air that fills whatever space it is. To let a soul be free, is one of the most beautiful things you could experience. Be at ringside Michael, be at ringside for one last battle, for one last war because trust me…”
Havoc yanked the camera to focus solely on him.
Havoc – “…This is going to be a war, Sami. Make no mistake about it, after the bombs have dropped and the dust clears there will be one last Broken Soldier on the front line by the name of Jimmy Havoc. Flying the Broken flag to the god damn edge of the earth. Win or Lose, you aren’t walking out the same person as you did walking in, I can guarantee that. Sami, you can do your little dance down to the ring, tell the fans how much of a bad person I am and tell them how badly you want to win and how badly you want to prove yourself to them but when you REALLY think about it…do you NEED this win? Is this the justification that you need? To be 3 up and comers in this company? Why? Just to show that all you want to do is to keep the rest of us down so you can slide your way into the title picture again? It isn’t happening tonight, trust me. Bring your dances, bring your flatcap and bring your fucking fans because at the end of the day you will smile your way down to the ring when really you need to think about the consequences that could happen. Scars both emotional and physical, will be left on your body. Blood, Sweat and Tears will be shed in that ring and afterwards you will know what it was like to be in the ring with Jimmy FUCKING Havoc.”
Jimmy pushes the camera away and walks out the door, the camera stops on Michael Cole telling the camera to stop rolling as it fades away..
