Renee Young was standing backstage at Camping World Stadium in the early afteroon, waiting by the entrance to interview Superstars as they arrived. Trish Stratus arrived dragging a roller suitcase. She wore a pair of low rise jeans and a black Wrestlemania t-shirt that had been cut into a crop top. As she spotted the interviewer, she pushed her sunglasses up on top of her head.
Renne Young: Welcome to Camping World Stadium, Trish!
Trish Stratus: Yes, you're quite the welcoming committee.
Renee Young: Are you excited to be here at Wrestlemania 16?
Trish Stratus: You know, tonight is a historic night! I'm really excited to be a part of it. Just having a match tonight means the world to me. Not to mention it's a match to become the number one contender for the EBWF Women's Championship. Now, I know I've been fairly quiet since losing the title, but it was important to me to step aside and allow some of the girls to have their moment to shine. I firmly believe that's what makes EBWF such a great place. The way a match can end unexpectedly. The way someone who doesn't quite fit the mold can rise above and be champion.
She shrugged and then a grin grew on her face.
Trish Stratus: But the three women I'm facing tonight, well, two of them are anything but championship material. Eva Marie? Oh honey, it's time to have a seat. Or, wait... isn't that what you've been doing? Where have you been, sweetheart? Contemplating life? Wondering if you're cut out to be a Diva here in EBWF. You've been at this for a while, and have had yourself a really hard time getting out of Sasha's shadow, haven't you. Now Sasha is nowhere to be found and you're even more useless than before. No, tonight won't be your night. If I were you, I'd get back in line for the teacups at Disneyworld. You'll have a much better time that way.
Renee Young: As a fatal fourway match, you said two of the women aren't championship material. Who's the other?
Trish Stratus: Alexa. I mean sure she's at least a better Wrestler than Eva, but that's not exactly saying much. A bear's a better Wrestler than Eva. I don't even know why Alexa is here. Is it because Margot Robbie got the part of Harley Quinn and she couldn't make it in Hollywood? Is it because fitness competitions didn't want her anymore?
Trish shook her head.
Trish Stratus: But you know what they say, Renee. Ignorance is Bliss, and if Alexa wants to walk around happy go lucky, with her head in the clouds thinking she belongs around here? Well, that's fine. She'll learn quickly when she gets eaten alive in this match.
She looked into the camera.
Trish Stratus: That of course leads me to...
Renee Young: Trish, with all due respect, Alexa Bliss beat you for the women's championship last year at Wrestlemania 15.
Trish looked at Renee blankly.
Trish Stratus: That would be the way you remember it, wouldn't it? Alexa Bliss got lucky last year, proven when she was absolutely devoured by Sasha Banks later at Summerslam. Alexa is a flash in the pan, and Velvet Sky and I are going to prove it tonight. For some reason, Velvet and I have been lumped into the same category. One where we're referred to as the grizzled old veterans of the division. Our names have become synonmyous with people who have been around for a long, long time. And it's for this reason, that I don't even care which one of us wins.
Renee Young: You... don't care if you win?
Trish Stratus: Oh, don't get me wrong, I want to win, but I'd be pleased if Vel did too. I'm sick and tired of being treated like my shelf life is over. These girls are disrespectful. They don't understand or acknowledge that the only reason they're even here, able to do what they do is because women like me made sacrifices on their behalf. Women like Velvet and I had to strike a delicate balance between being beautiful and athletic, stiking and powerful. And we've done it well, only to be insulted by these litle untalented, pretty bitches infesting EBWF. So this isn't just important for me. It's important for the whole division. It's important to keep women's wrestling alive. I won't be dismissed by these fashion models or beauty pageant contestants. So tonight? Whether or not it's me or Velvet Sky that walks out on top? We're here to show these prissy little girls that unless they get talented, real quick? There's no place for them here in OUR ring. Now if you'll excuse me, Renee. I have a match to prepare for.
With that, EBWF's Quintessential Diva, turned to find her locker room as the scene faded.
