As Kevin Owens walked through the backstage area, Renee Young stopped him, microphone in hand.

Renee Young: Excuse me, Kevin? I wanted to ask you about what happened last week.

Owens stopped, and shrugged.

Kevin Owens: Last week? What about it?

Renee Young: Well you attacked your long-time rival Sami Zayn... everyone is wondering why?

Kevin Owens: It's simple really, Renee. Chris Jericho told me to get myself noticed. I looked at who was on the card that night, and one guy stood out. Sami Zayn. He stood out for the wrong reason though – I looked at his name and wondered, why is he on the card? As far as I was concerned, Zayn was in my spot. So I took him out of it. And tonight, look what happened. I have a match, he doesn’t. It's all worked out for the best.

Renee Young: Aren't you worried he might seek retribution and get involved in your match with Bobby Roode?

Kevin Owens: Do you think Zayn is in any condition to show up tonight, Renee? I'm not worried. I won't be thinking about Sami Zayn, I'll be focused on beating Bobby Roode. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a match to prepare for.

Owens brushed past Renee and continued making his way down the hallway.
